Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author gives a systematic study of the Hardy spaces of functions with values in the noncommutative $Lp$-spaces associated with a semifinite von Neumann algebra $\mathcal{M .$ This is motivated by matrix valued Harmonic Analysis (operator weighted norm inequalities, operator Hilbert transform), as well as by the recent development of noncommutative martingale inequalities. in this paper noncommutative Hardy spaces are defined by noncommutative Lusin integral function, and it isproved that they are equivalent to those defined by noncommutative Littlewood-Paley G-functions. The main results of this paper include: (i) The analogue in the author's setting of the classical Fefferman duality theorem between $\mathcal{H 1$ and $\mathrm{BMO $. (ii) The atomic decomposition of theauthor's noncommutative $\mathcal{H 1.$ (iii) The equivalence between the norms of the noncommutative Hardy spaces and of the noncommutative $Lp$-spaces $(1

Book Operator Theory in Function Spaces

Download or read book Operator Theory in Function Spaces written by Kehe Zhu and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2007 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers Toeplitz operators, Hankel operators, and composition operators on both the Bergman space and the Hardy space. The setting is the unit disk and the main emphasis is on size estimates of these operators: boundedness, compactness, and membership in the Schatten classes. Most results concern the relationship between operator-theoretic properties of these operators and function-theoretic properties of the inducing symbols. Thus a good portion of the book is devoted to the study of analytic function spaces such as the Bloch space, Besov spaces, and BMOA, whose elements are to be used as symbols to induce the operators we study. The book is intended for both research mathematicians and graduate students in complex analysis and operator theory. The prerequisites are minimal; a graduate course in each of real analysis, complex analysis, and functional analysis should sufficiently prepare the reader for the book. Exercises and bibliographical notes are provided at the end of each chapter. These notes will point the reader to additional results and problems. Kehe Zhu is a professor of mathematics at the State University of New York at Albany. His previous books include Theory of Bergman Spaces (Springer, 2000, with H. Hedenmalm and B. Korenblum) and Spaces of Holomorphic Functions in the Unit Ball (Springer, 2005). His current research interests are holomorphic function spaces and operators acting on them.

Book The Backward Shift on the Hardy Space

Download or read book The Backward Shift on the Hardy Space written by Joseph A. Cima and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2000 with total page 215 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Shift operators on Hilbert spaces of analytic functions play an important role in the study of bounded linear operators on Hilbert spaces since they often serve as models for various classes of linear operators. For example, "parts" of direct sums of the backward shift operator on the classical Hardy space H2 model certain types of contraction operators and potentially have connections to understanding the invariant subspaces of a general linear operator. This book is a thorough treatment of the characterization of the backward shift invariant subspaces of the well-known Hardy spaces H{p}. Download or read book Variable Lebesgue Spaces written by David V. Cruz-Uribe and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-02-12 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an accessible introduction to the theory of variable Lebesgue spaces. These spaces generalize the classical Lebesgue spaces by replacing the constant exponent p with a variable exponent p(x). They were introduced in the early 1930s but have become the focus of renewed interest since the early 1990s because of their connection with the calculus of variations and partial differential equations with nonstandard growth conditions, and for their applications to problems in physics and image processing. The book begins with the development of the basic function space properties. It avoids a more abstract, functional analysis approach, instead emphasizing an hands-on approach that makes clear the similarities and differences between the variable and classical Lebesgue spaces. The subsequent chapters are devoted to harmonic analysis on variable Lebesgue spaces. The theory of the Hardy-Littlewood maximal operator is completely developed, and the connections between variable Lebesgue spaces and the weighted norm inequalities are introduced. The other important operators in harmonic analysis - singular integrals, Riesz potentials, and approximate identities - are treated using a powerful generalization of the Rubio de Francia theory of extrapolation from the theory of weighted norm inequalities. The final chapter applies the results from previous chapters to prove basic results about variable Sobolev spaces.

Book Weighted Hardy Spaces

Download or read book Weighted Hardy Spaces written by Jan-Olov Strömberg and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-14 with total page 203 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These notes give the basic ingredients of the theory of weighted Hardy spaces of tempered distribution on Rn and illustrate the techniques used. The authors consider properties of weights in a general setting; they derive mean value inequalities for wavelet transforms and introduce halfspace techniques with, for example, nontangential maximal functions and g-functions. This leads to several equivalent definitions of the weighted Hardy space HPW. Fourier multipliers and singular integral operators are applied to the weighted Hardy spaces and complex interpolation is considered. One tool often used here is the atomic decomposition. The methods developed by the authors using the atomic decomposition in the strictly convex case p>1 are of special interest.

Download or read book Interpolation Spaces written by J. Bergh and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The works of Jaak Peetre constitute the main body of this treatise. Important contributors are also J. L. Lions and A. P. Calderon, not to mention several others. We, the present authors, have thus merely compiled and explained the works of others (with the exception of a few minor contributions of our own). Let us mention the origin of this treatise. A couple of years ago, J. Peetre suggested to the second author, J. Lofstrom, writing a book on interpolation theory and he most generously put at Lofstrom's disposal an unfinished manu script, covering parts of Chapter 1-3 and 5 of this book. Subsequently, LOfstrom prepared a first rough, but relatively complete manuscript of lecture notes. This was then partly rewritten and thouroughly revised by the first author, J. Bergh, who also prepared the notes and comment and most of the exercises. Throughout the work, we have had the good fortune of enjoying Jaak Peetre's kind patronage and invaluable counsel. We want to express our deep gratitude to him. Thanks are also due to our colleagues for their support and help. Finally, we are sincerely grateful to Boe1 Engebrand, Lena Mattsson and Birgit Hoglund for their expert typing of our manuscript.

Book Analysis in Banach Spaces

Download or read book Analysis in Banach Spaces written by Tuomas Hytönen and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-11-26 with total page 628 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume develops the theory of integration in Banach spaces, martingales and UMD spaces, and culminates in a treatment of the Hilbert transform, Littlewood-Paley theory and the vector-valued Mihlin multiplier theorem. Over the past fifteen years, motivated by regularity problems in evolution equations, there has been tremendous progress in the analysis of Banach space-valued functions and processes. The contents of this extensive and powerful toolbox have been mostly scattered around in research papers and lecture notes. Collecting this diverse body of material into a unified and accessible presentation fills a gap in the existing literature. The principal audience that we have in mind consists of researchers who need and use Analysis in Banach Spaces as a tool for studying problems in partial differential equations, harmonic analysis, and stochastic analysis. Self-contained and offering complete proofs, this work is accessible to graduate students and researchers with a background in functional analysis or related areas.

Book Interpolation and Realization Theory with Applications to Control Theory

Download or read book Interpolation and Realization Theory with Applications to Control Theory written by Vladimir Bolotnikov and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-04-08 with total page 353 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is devoted to Joseph A. (Joe) Ball’s contributions to operator theory and its applications and in celebration of his seventieth birthday. Joe Ball’s career spans over four and a half decades, starting with his work on model theory and related topics for non-contractions and operators on multiply connected domains. Later on, more applied operator theory themes appeared in his work, involving factorization and interpolation for operator-valued functions, with extensive applications in system and control theory. He has worked on nonlinear control, time-varying systems and, more recently, on multidimensional systems and noncommutative H∞-theory on the unit ball and polydisk, and more general domains, and these are only the main themes in his vast oeuvre. Fourteen research papers constitute the core of this volume, written by mathematicians who have collaborated with Joe or have been influenced by his vast mathematical work. A curriculum vitae, a publications list and a list of Joe Ball’s PhD students are included in this volume, as well as personal reminiscences by colleagues and friends. Contributions by Yu. M. Arlinskii, S. Hassi, M. Augat, J. W. Helton, I. Klep, S. McCullough, S. Balasubramanian, U. Wijesooriya, N. Cohen, Q. Fang, S. Gorai, J. Sarkar, G. J. Groenewald, S. ter Horst, J. Jaftha, A. C. M. Book Special Classes of Linear Operators and Other Topics

Download or read book Special Classes of Linear Operators and Other Topics written by G. Arsene and published by Birkhäuser. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Operator Theory conferences, organized by the Department of Mathematics of INCREST and the University of Timi~oara, are conceived as a means to promote cooperation and exchange of information between specialists in all areas of operator theory. This volume consists of a careful selec£ion of papers contributed by the participants of the 1986 Conference. They reflect most of the topics dealt with by the modern operator theory, including recent advances in dual operator algebras and the fnvariant subspace problem, operators in indefinite metric spaces, hyponormal, quasi triangular and decomposable operators, various problems in C*- and W*-algebras and so on. The research contracts of the Department of Mathematics of INCREST with the National Council for Science and Technology of Romania provided the means for developing the research activity in mathematics; they represent the generous framework of these meetings, too. It is our pleasure to acknowledge the financial support of UNESCO which also contributed to the success of this meeting. We are indebted to Professor Israel Gohberg for including these Proceedings in the OT Series and for valuable advice in the editing process. Birkhiiuser Verlag was very cooperative in publishing this volume. Camelia Minculescu, Iren Nemethi and Rodica Stoenescu dealt with the dif ficult task of typing the whOle manuscript using a Rank Xerox 860 word processor; we thank them for the excellent job they did.

Book The Generalized Triangle Inequalities in Symmetric Spaces and Buildings with Applications to Algebra

Download or read book The Generalized Triangle Inequalities in Symmetric Spaces and Buildings with Applications to Algebra written by Michael Kapovich and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2008 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper the authors apply their results on the geometry of polygons in infinitesimal symmetric spaces and symmetric spaces and buildings to four problems in algebraic group theory. Two of these problems are generalizations of the problems of finding the constraints on the eigenvalues (resp. singular values) of a sum (resp. product) when the eigenvalues (singular values) of each summand (factor) are fixed. The other two problems are related to the nonvanishing of the structure constants of the (spherical) Hecke and representation rings associated with a split reductive algebraic group over $\mathbb{Q}$ and its complex Langlands' dual. The authors give a new proof of the Saturation Conjecture for $GL(\ell)$ as a consequence of their solution of the corresponding saturation problem for the Hecke structure constants for all split reductive algebraic groups over $\mathbb{Q}$.
