Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quinn de Sayerne vowed never to return home while his wicked father drew breath. Twenty years after his departure, the knight and crusader is summoned to claim his family holding after his father’s death. But the overlord decrees that Quinn must wed Melissande, the beautiful but frosty heiress of neighboring Annossy. Quinn resolves to win the heart of his lady wife, no matter what the cost, and thence the seal of Sayerne. Melissande cannot believe that her liege lord has ignored her betrothal and wed her to a mercenary. Worse, he has granted her beloved Annossy to her new husband against her every protest. Though Melissande finds herself the chattel of this rough knight, she is determined to fight Quinn on every front—for the sake of her betrothal, Annossy, and her own pride. But Annossy itself is in danger with brigands raiding its borders. Quinn is charged to oust the villains, but soon fears his lady wife is in peril—or is she allied with the brigands? Can this pair come to trust each other in time to work together for the sake of the future, or will a villain’s evil scheme cost them both everything they hold dear?

Book One Knight s Life

Download or read book One Knight s Life written by Henry Beyer and published by Fulton Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-05-20 with total page 347 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Henry expected his older brother, William, to inherit the castle and to become the lord of Dol. However, when William dies at a young age, Henry must give up his religious studies and become a knight. He proves himself as trustworthy and intelligent and becomes a skilled knight during the First Crusade. After devastating losses, Henry struggles to live by his values and to continue to honor God. Henry must learn to recognize and embrace the gifts he possesses, many of which he doesn’t yet understand. One Knight’s Life appears to be a historical novel, but it’s much more. It’s about noticing subtle things—those which most of us take for granted—but don’t really understand. A Past-Life Regression With hindsight, I’ve concluded the reason I started writing One Knight’s Life: The Twelfth Templar when my wife asked me to drive her to Rangeley Lake to meet a woman named Kay Mora. This woman supposedly had “unusual powers” and had reportedly established her “bona fides” along these lines with the Florida State Police by helping them locate several missing persons. Not believing that sort of thing, I paid little attention. But since my wife was planning to go on a Saturday, I agreed to drive her. When we got there, we found a gray-haired old woman in a little cottage beside the lake. After introductions, I was about to look for a spot by the lake to read a book, when Kay Mora suddenly turned from Linda to me. “And what do you want me to do for you?” queried the seer in a very forceful tone. I was taken aback. I had no thought of doing anything with her. But her question was so direct that I fumbled for an answer. “I don’t know...What are my choices?” “Perhaps a past-life regression,” she replied. “And not having thought about it before was a good thing.” Based on that session, I changed my career, reestablished my values, and began to investigate near-death experiences, reincarnation, and coincidences. This book is a wonderfully historical novel. It is also one which challenges many aspects of today’s beliefs. I think you will like it. 1

Book Knights of Faith and Resignation

Download or read book Knights of Faith and Resignation written by Edward F. Mooney and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 1991-07-03 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Knights of Faith and Resignation brings out the richness of Kierkegaard's creative invention, the contemporary relevance of his contrasts between resignation and faith, and his probing conceptual analysis of aesthetic, moral, and religious psychology and life-perspectives. And in tracing Kierkegaard's analysis of objectivity, subjectivity, virtue ethics, passion, dilemmas, commitment, and self-reflection, Mooney brings out a striking convergence between Kierkegaard and analytic philosophy — the tradition of Socrates, Kant, and Wittgenstein, and its more contemporary practitioners, writers like Charles Taylor, Thomas Nagel, Stanley Cavell, Bernard Williams, and Harry Frankfurt.
