Book The In vacuo Vibrations of a Simply Supported Ring stiffened Mass loaded Cylindrical Shell

Download or read book The In vacuo Vibrations of a Simply Supported Ring stiffened Mass loaded Cylindrical Shell written by Constantine D. Michalopoulos and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present investigation is an analytical study of the in-vacuo free vibrations of a simply supported, mass-loaded thin cylindrical shell which is reinforced by equally spaced ring stiffeners. Four masses are attached to each stiffening ring in a plane-symmetric fashion. The rotatory inertia of the mass loads is taken into account, but similar effects for the shell and ring stiffeners are neglected. Lagrange's equations are used to derive the dynamic equations of the structure. Results are given for various combinations of length, radius and thickness of the shell, number of stiffening rings, and value and position of mass loads. When the value of the masses is allowed to become zero, the results for the ring-stiffened shell are in close agreement with those of previous investigators. (Author).

Book The Effect of Plane symmetric Mass Loading on the Response of Ring stiffened Cylindrical Shells

This book was released on 1966 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An analytical study of the in-vacuo vibrations of a simply supported, mass-loaded thin cylindrical shell which is reinforced by equally spaced ring stiffeners is presented. Four masses are attached to each stiffening ring in a plane-symmetric fashion. The rotatory inertia of the masses is taken into account, but similar effects for the shell and ring stiffeners are neglected. Lagrange's equations are used to derive the dynamic equations of the shell structure and the Jacobi iteration method is employed to find the natural frequencies and corresponding mode shapes. Results are given for various values and angular position of the masses. When the value of the masses is allowed to become zero, the results for the ring-stiffened shell are in close agreement with those of previous investigators. Modal analysis is used to obtain the response of the structure to two different types of excitation: (1) a band of uniform internal pressure applied as a pulse in time, (2) a pressure wave which strikes the shell transversely. Numerical results are not presented for these two cases. (Author).

Book Dynamic Modeling and Active Vibration Control of Structures

Download or read book Dynamic Modeling and Active Vibration Control of Structures written by Moon Kyu Kwak and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-08-14 with total page 377 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes the active vibration control techniques which have been developed to suppress excessive vibrations of structures. It covers the fundamental principles of active control methods and their applications and shows how active vibration control techniques have replaced traditional passive vibration control. The book includes coverage of dynamic modeling, control design, sensing methodology, actuator mechanism and electronic circuit design, and the implementation of control algorithms via digital controllers. An in-depth approach has been taken to describe the modeling of structures for control design, the development of control algorithms suitable for structural control, and the implementation of control algorithms by means of Simulink block diagrams or C language. Details of currently available actuators and sensors and electronic circuits for signal conditioning and filtering have been provided based on the most recent advances in the field. The book is used as a textbook for students and a reference for researchers who are interested in studying cutting-edge technology. It will be a valuable resource for academic and industrial researchers and professionals involved in the design and manufacture of active vibration controllers for structures in a wide variety of fields and industries including the automotive, rail, aerospace, and civil engineering sectors.
