Book excerpt: Excerpt from On the Green's Function for Two-Dimensional Magnetohydrodynamic Waves I Green's function as a distribution inverting its Fourier transform obtained from the partial differential equations. The interpretation as a distribution is essential as we shall have to evaluate many singular integrals and the Green's function itself is not integrable considered as an ordinary function. Book The Green s Function Associated with One and Two Dimensional Problems

Download or read book The Green s Function Associated with One and Two Dimensional Problems written by Sana Munir and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2015-04-27 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Essay from the year 2015 in the subject Mathematics - General, Basics, , language: English, abstract: In mathematics a green’s function is type of function used to solve inhomogeneous differential equations subject to specific initial conditions or boundary conditions. Green’s functions provide an important tool when we study the boundary value problem. They also have intrinsic value for a mathematician. Also green’s functions in general are distribution, not necessarily proper function. Green functions are also useful for solving wave equation, diffusion equation and in quantum mechanics, where the green’s function of the Hamiltonian is a key concept, with important links to the concept of density of states. In this project construction of green’s function in one and two dimension has shown. There are more then one way of constructing greens’ function (if it exist) but the result is always same. Due to this we can say that green’s function for a given linear system is unique.

Book Green s Functions with Applications

Download or read book Green s Functions with Applications written by Dean G. Duffy and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2015-03-10 with total page 461 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since publication of the first edition over a decade ago, Green’s Functions with Applications has provided applied scientists and engineers with a systematic approach to the various methods available for deriving a Green’s function. This fully revised Second Edition retains the same purpose, but has been meticulously updated to reflect the current state of the art. The book opens with necessary background information: a new chapter on the historical development of the Green’s function, coverage of the Fourier and Laplace transforms, a discussion of the classical special functions of Bessel functions and Legendre polynomials, and a review of the Dirac delta function. The text then presents Green’s functions for each class of differential equation (ordinary differential, wave, heat, and Helmholtz equations) according to the number of spatial dimensions and the geometry of the domain. Detailing step-by-step methods for finding and computing Green’s functions, each chapter contains a special section devoted to topics where Green’s functions particularly are useful. For example, in the case of the wave equation, Green’s functions are beneficial in describing diffraction and waves. To aid readers in developing practical skills for finding Green’s functions, worked examples, problem sets, and illustrations from acoustics, applied mechanics, antennas, and the stability of fluids and plasmas are featured throughout the text. A new chapter on numerical methods closes the book. Included solutions and hundreds of references to the literature on the construction and use of Green's functions make Green’s Functions with Applications, Second Edition a valuable sourcebook for practitioners as well as graduate students in the sciences and engineering.

Book Green s Functions of the Rytov Equation

Download or read book Green s Functions of the Rytov Equation written by Koichi Mano and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 30 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Green's functions are calculated for the Rytov equation that governs the propagation of plane monochromatic waves in a random medium. The diverging as well as the converging wave solutions of the Green's functions are obtained for the two situations in which the Laplacian operator in the equation is either fully three-dimensional or only two-dimensional in the variables that describe the plane normal to the direction of wave propagation. The solutions found by Chernov and by Tatarski are compared with solutions that can be given in terms of the Green's functions thus obtained. (Author).

Book Dyadic Green Functions in Electromagnetic Theory

Download or read book Dyadic Green Functions in Electromagnetic Theory written by Chen-to Tai and published by Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers(IEEE). This book was released on 1994 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this comprehensive, new edition, Chen-To Tai gives extensive attention to recent research surrounding the techniques of dyadic Green functions. Additional formulations are introduced, including the classifications and the different methods of finding the eigenfunction expansions. Important new features in this edition include Maxwell's equations, which has been cast in a dyadic form to make the introduction of the electric and magnetic dyadic Green functions easier to understand; the integral solutions to Maxwell's equations, now derived with the aid of the vector-dyadic Green's theorem, allowing several intermediate steps to be omitted; a detailed discussion of complementary reciprocal theorems and transient radiation in moving media; and the derivation of various dyadic Green functions for problems involving plain layered media, and a two-dimensional Fourier-integral representation of these functions. This in-depth textbook will be of particular interest to antenna and microwave engineers, research scientists, and professors.

Book Elements of Green s Functions and Propagation

Download or read book Elements of Green s Functions and Propagation written by Gabriel Barton and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 1989 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text takes the student with a background in undergraduate physics and mathematics towards the skills and insights needed for graduate work in theoretical physics. The author uses Green's functions to explore the physics of potentials, diffusion, and waves. These are important phenomena in their own right, but this study of the partial differential equations describing them also prepares the student for more advanced applications in many-body physics and field theory. Calculations are carried through in enough detail for self-study, and case histories illustrate the interplay between physical insight and mathematical formalism. The aim is to develop the habit of dialogue with the equations and the craftsmanship this fosters in tackling the problem. The book is based on the author's extensive teaching experience.
