Book Scaled model Measurements on a Nested tandem Array of Four Rhombic Antennas

Download or read book Scaled model Measurements on a Nested tandem Array of Four Rhombic Antennas written by E. L. Kilpatrick and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Antenna with high gains at low elevation angles are important to long distance HF communication. With application to an 11,070-km circuit between Washington, D.C. and Asmara, Ethiopia, in view, a design for an antenna consisting of four rhombic elements in a nested-tandem configuration was proposed. The overall length of the antenna was 442.8 m (1452.6 ft), the maximum height, 73.2 m (240 ft). Its nominal operating frequency range was from 6 to 19 MHz. Power gain was computed as a function of frequency, elevation angle, and azimuthal direction. Scaled-model measurements, using 200:1 scaling factor, were carried out to verify the computations. Calculations showed the maximum gain to be 26.5 dB at 14.5 MHz at an angle of about 4.5°. The computed performance deteriorated markedly above 18 MHz. The measurements confirmed the computations at the lower frequencies and showed the deterioration in the performance near the upper frequency end to begin at a lower frequency than computer.

Book A Chart for Rhombic Antenna Design

Download or read book A Chart for Rhombic Antenna Design written by W. G. Baker and published by . This book was released on 1943 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A chart has been prepared for the design of rhombic antennae to solve simply such problems as the following: the best proportions, the angle of maximum radiation at any wave length, and the wave length of maximum radiation at any angle of elevation. The results apply only in the vertical plane contaning the principal diagonal.

Book A Practical Guide to the Design of Rhombic Aerials

Download or read book A Practical Guide to the Design of Rhombic Aerials written by J. N. Tyler and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 40 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Memorandum meets the need for practical advice on the design and assessment of the likely performance of the rhombic aerial. No new theoretical approach has been made but basic principles of the rhombic are explained and design charts of a new type are presented. These, compiled using two simple computer programs, offer a considerable time saving over design procedures used until now. Examples of aerials design used these charts are given together with polar diagrams of their theoretical performance. Keywords: Aerials; Radio antennas; Antenna radiation patterns; Great Britain.
