Download or read book On Lambda Nonlinear Boundary Eigenvalue Problems written by Christiane Tretter and published by Wiley-VCH. This book was released on 1993-09 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses nonselfadjoint (Lambda)-nonlinear boundary eigenvalue problems for ordinary differential equations. Asymptotic boundary conditions for uniform convergence of generalized eigenfunction expansions are given by a recursion and expansion theorems are established by a careful analytic study of the asymptotic behaviour of Green's function. The theory is illustrated by various examples from technical mechanics.
Download or read book Homotopy Analysis Method in Nonlinear Differential Equations written by Shijun Liao and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-06-22 with total page 566 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Homotopy Analysis Method in Nonlinear Differential Equations" presents the latest developments and applications of the analytic approximation method for highly nonlinear problems, namely the homotopy analysis method (HAM). Unlike perturbation methods, the HAM has nothing to do with small/large physical parameters. In addition, it provides great freedom to choose the equation-type of linear sub-problems and the base functions of a solution. Above all, it provides a convenient way to guarantee the convergence of a solution. This book consists of three parts. Part I provides its basic ideas and theoretical development. Part II presents the HAM-based Mathematica package BVPh 1.0 for nonlinear boundary-value problems and its applications. Part III shows the validity of the HAM for nonlinear PDEs, such as the American put option and resonance criterion of nonlinear travelling waves. New solutions to a number of nonlinear problems are presented, illustrating the originality of the HAM. Mathematica codes are freely available online to make it easy for readers to understand and use the HAM. This book is suitable for researchers and postgraduates in applied mathematics, physics, nonlinear mechanics, finance and engineering. Dr. Shijun Liao, a distinguished professor of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, is a pioneer of the HAM.

Download or read book Advances In The Homotopy Analysis Method written by Shijun Liao and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2013-11-26 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unlike other analytic techniques, the Homotopy Analysis Method (HAM) is independent of small/large physical parameters. Besides, it provides great freedom to choose equation type and solution expression of related linear high-order approximation equations. The HAM provides a simple way to guarantee the convergence of solution series. Such uniqueness differentiates the HAM from all other analytic approximation methods. In addition, the HAM can be applied to solve some challenging problems with high nonlinearity. This book, edited by the pioneer and founder of the HAM, describes the current advances of this powerful analytic approximation method for highly nonlinear problems. Coming from different countries and fields of research, the authors of each chapter are top experts in the HAM and its applications.
Download or read book Resurgence Physics and Numbers written by Frédéric Fauvet and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-11-17 with total page 390 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is issued from a conference around resurgent functions in Physics and multiple zetavalues, which was held at the Centro di Ricerca Matematica Ennio de Giorgi in Pisa, on May 18-22, 2015. This meeting originally stemmed from the impressive upsurge of interest for Jean Ecalle's alien calculus in Physics, in the last years – a trend that has considerably developed since then. The volume contains both original research papers and surveys, by leading experts in the field, reflecting the themes that were tackled at this event: Stokes phenomenon and resurgence, in various mathematical and physical contexts but also related constructions in algebraic combinatorics and results concerning numbers, specifically multiple zetavalues.

Download or read book Elementary Differential Equations with Boundary Value Problems written by William F. Trench and published by Thomson Brooks/Cole. This book was released on 2001 with total page 764 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written in a clear and accurate language that students can understand, Trench's new book minimizes the number of explicitly stated theorems and definitions. Instead, he deals with concepts in a conversational style that engages students. He includes more than 250 illustrated, worked examples for easy reading and comprehension. One of the book's many strengths is its problems, which are of consistently high quality. Trench includes a thorough treatment of boundary-value problems and partial differential equations and has organized the book to allow instructors to select the level of technology desired. This has been simplified by using symbols, C and L, to designate the level of technology. C problems call for computations and/or graphics, while L problems are laboratory exercises that require extensive use of technology. Informal advice on the use of technology is included in several sections and instructors who prefer not to emphasize technology can ignore these exercises without interrupting the flow of material.
