Book On Board B ISDN Fast Packet Switching Architectures Phase 1

Download or read book On Board B ISDN Fast Packet Switching Architectures Phase 1 written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-27 with total page 522 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The broadband integrate services digital network (B-ISDN) is an emerging telecommunications technology that will meet most of the telecommunications networking needs in the mid-1990's to early next century. The satellite-based system is well positioned for providing B-ISDN service with its inherent capabilities of point-to-multipoint and broadcast transmission, virtually unlimited connectivity between any two points within a beam coverage, short deployment time of communications facility, flexible and dynamic reallocation of space segment capacity, and distance insensitive cost. On-board processing satellites, particularly in a multiple spot beam environment, will provide enhanced connectivity, better performance, optimized access and transmission link design, and lower user service cost. The following are described: the user and network aspects of broadband services; the current development status in broadband services; various satellite network architectures including system design issues; and various fast packet switch architectures and their detail designs. Book On Board B ISDN Fast Packet Switching Architectures Phase 2

Download or read book On Board B ISDN Fast Packet Switching Architectures Phase 2 written by National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2018-07-18 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For the next-generation packet switched communications satellite system with onboard processing and spot-beam operation, a reliable onboard fast packet switch is essential to route packets from different uplink beams to different downlink beams. The rapid emergence of point-to-point services such as video distribution, and the large demand for video conference, distributed data processing, and network management makes the multicast function essential to a fast packet switch (FPS). The satellite's inherent broadcast features gives the satellite network an advantage over the terrestrial network in providing multicast services. This report evaluates alternate multicast FPS architectures for onboard baseband switching applications and selects a candidate for subsequent breadboard development. Architecture evaluation and selection will be based on the study performed in phase 1, 'Onboard B-ISDN Fast Packet Switching Architectures', and other switch architectures which have become commercially available as large scale integration (LSI) devices. Book Performance of a Three stage Banyan based Architecture with Input and Output Buffers for Large Fast Packet Switches

Download or read book Performance of a Three stage Banyan based Architecture with Input and Output Buffers for Large Fast Packet Switches written by Stanford University. Computer Systems Laboratory and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 187 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: "Fast packet switching, also referred to as Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM), has emerged as the most appropriate switching technique to handle the high data rates and the wide diversity of traffic requirements envisioned in Broadband Integrated Services Digital Networks (B-ISDN). ATM switches capable of meeting the challenges posed by a successful deployment of B-ISDN must be designed and implemented.

Book Packet Switching Evolution from Narrowband to Broadband ISDN

Download or read book Packet Switching Evolution from Narrowband to Broadband ISDN written by M. Smouts and published by Artech House Publishers. This book was released on 1992 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book defines and evaluates packet switching and reviews its implementation and applications. the information provided will help you to understand the technology and to better judge important parameters that will influence future industry decisions. It presents thought-provoking and even controversial viewpoints about the future role and alternative migration paths for packet switching in ISDN.
