After the death of their friend and mentor, the two actors are determined to compile the First Folio and preserve the words that shaped their lives. They’ll just have to borrow, beg, and band together to get it done. Amidst the noise and color of Elizabethan London, THE BOOK OF WILL finds an unforgettable true story of love, loss, and laughter, and sheds new light on a man you may think you know.

Book excerpt: In 1926, Earl Oglebay willed his summer estate, Waddington Farm, to the city of Wheeling with the hope that it would provide entertainment and education to the community. He and naturalist A.B. Brooks, both mavericks in ecology and agricultural training, established the unique environmental emphasis still evident in the parks nature center, trails, Discovery Lab, and zoo. The 1,650-acre municipal park nestled in the Wheeling hills also features Wilson Lodge, the premier hotel in the area, and 49 log cabins that pay tribute to the communitys storied frontier past. The cabins and the Pine Room Pool were built in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. Those brave young men, along with a famous golf course architect, Bob Biery, created the Oglebay Caddy Camp, which has been featured in several major golf magazines. Today, Oglebay Park hosts festivals, legendary jazz bands, and top-notch equestrian events. The parks Winter Festival of Lights is considered to be the nations largest light show.

Book The National Road and the Difficult Path to Sustainable National Investment

Download or read book The National Road and the Difficult Path to Sustainable National Investment written by Theodore Sky and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2011-07-16 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The National Road is a comprehensive history of the first federally financed interstate highway, an approximately 600-mile span that joined Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois in the nineteenth century. This book covers the road's contribution to the cultural, economic, and administrative history of the United States, its decline during the second half of the nineteenth century, and its revival in the twentieth century in the form of U.S. Route 40. The story of the National Road embraces an account of its building, its constitutional significance, the unique culture that it represented, the movements and trends that transpired across its route, and the symbolic value that it held, and continues to hold, for the American people. Beyond its status as an American heritage symbol, it serves as a forceful reminder that the United States must continue to pursue the goal of sustainable national investment that began with the National Road and comparable projects during the early republic.

Book Lefevre James Cranstone

Download or read book Lefevre James Cranstone written by Donald L. Smith and published by Brandylane Publishers Inc. This book was released on 2004 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Few people have had the pleasure of viewing the works of 19th century British artist Lefevre James Cranstone, who thus remains overlooked and unappreciated. By telling the story of the artist's life and work, author Donald Smith helps the reader appreciate this gifted artist. The book's 143 color plates illustrate how the artist documents the cities, rural landscapes, and people of his time through his versatility with diverse media and a superb use of detail. The book focuses primarily on the artist's trip to America between 1859 and 1860, which resulted in almost 300 detailed sketches of antebellum America, including works that illustrated the cruelty of the slave trade. The volume concludes with a description of the artist's life and career in England and in Australia.
