Book Methods for the Analysis of Organometallic Compounds in Wastes

Download or read book Methods for the Analysis of Organometallic Compounds in Wastes written by WR. Blair and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organometallic compounds occur in the environment as a result of anthropogenic and biogenic processes. Since organometals are often much more toxic than the corresponding inorganic forms of metals, it is important to be able to speciate the forms of metals in environmental samples at ultratrace levels. Chemical speciation methods, based on the use of chromatographic separations followed by element-selective detection, have been developed in our laboratories and elsewhere. These methods, described in part in this paper, are helping us to measure organometal species at their action levels (down to parts-per-trillion levels) in environmental matrices, leading to a better understanding of environmental occurrence, fate, effects, and transformation. New methods for nondestructive analysis of metal species on surfaces are under development.

Book Comprehensive Organometallic Analysis

Download or read book Comprehensive Organometallic Analysis written by T.R. Crompton and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 907 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is now some sixteen years since the author's first series of books on the analysis of organometallic compounds. Many developments in the subject have occurred since that time and a new book on the subject is now overdue. The present book aims to provide a comprehensive review of the subject. It covers not only all aspects of the analysis of organometallic compounds but also contains two additional chapters, dealing with environmental analysis and the use of chelates of metals in the determination of very low concentrations of organic metals. Whilst reviewing the literature for the present book, it was observed that whereas papers published prior to 1973 dealt almost exclusively with various forms of analysis, a high proportion of those published during the past ten years were concerned with the application of proven or newly developed methods to the determination of organometallic compounds in environmental samples such as water, air, soil, river and ocean sediments, fish life and biota samples. An increasing range of elements including mercury, lead, arsenic, tin, antimony, selenium and manganese are now being found in organically bound forms in the environment, some resulting from pollution, others formed in nature by bacterial processes. As many of these substances have appreciable implications to human and animal health and the ecosystem as a whole, it was considered that it would be timely to include a separate chapter in the book devoted entirely to this subject.

Book Chemistry of Marine Water and Sediments

Download or read book Chemistry of Marine Water and Sediments written by Antonio Gianguzza and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 513 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The most important processes on the Earth`s surface occur in the Ocean where materials and energy are primarily exchanged. In the case of marine chemistry different fields of chemistry from organic to inorganic as well as thermodynamics and biochemistry are involved. Analytical Chemistry is a very important tool for the quantification of biogeochemical processes by providing correct and even more sophisticated methodologies. These are often directly applied 'in situ', in order to detect trace and ultra-trace natural and anthropogenic substances. Kinetic and thermodynamic studies allow us to establish whether the process occurs. Once discovered it is then possible to build up general models for environmental systems. This book gathers many aspects with the aim of creating a general picture of the chemical processes occurring in the marine environment
