Download or read book Migration and Health written by Nadia El-Shaarawi and published by Berghahn Books. This book was released on 2022-06-10 with total page 211 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite the centrality of migration in our contemporary world, scholarship on mobility and health frequently separates migrants according to legal status, country of origin, destination, or health concern. Yet people on the move and health systems face challenges and opportunities that transcend these boundaries, including border fortification, neoliberal agendas, and climate change. This volume explores these epistemic borders, recognizing the necessity of a new conversation about migration and health. Each of the empirically grounded chapters introduces readers to pressing questions of migration and health in diverse social, political, and geographical settings.
Download or read book The Basic Experience and the Development of the Self written by Luciano Rispoli and published by Peter Lang. This book was released on 2008 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In today's world, children's development is increasingly under threat. Basic experiences (such as joy, tenderness, learning how to love, well-being etc.) which are crucial for healthy development are often deficient or tainted. As a result, more and more children show signs of restlessness, anxiety and relational problems. This study examines the profound functioning at the root of human life and analyses the characteristics of these functional processes - the forms they present at different stages of development, how they may be supported by adults, what dysfunctions can occur and how such imbalances can be cared for or healed. The individual as a whole is considered in the light of all its Functions: emotional, cognitive, physical and postural. This text provides numerous case histories, through which the author illustrates various modalities of prevention, cure and therapeutic intervention for children and adolescents. This work is based on the theory that only a truly comprehensive outlook can help us understand what really happens during human development and devise truly effective treatments, avoiding the error of fragmenting the mind and the body, which are seen here as inseparable elements of a unified whole.

Download or read book Italian Fascism s Forgotten LGBT Victims written by Gabriella Romano and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2024-01-25 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the question of the repression of LGBT people through psychiatry during the fascist regime in Italy, a subject that has not been investigated until now. It draws together the substantial archival record of patients, doctors and fascist authorities to reconstruct intricate behind-the-scenes dialogue, and to document one of the ways in which the regime repressed LGBT lives in this period. Italian Fascism's Forgotten LGBT Victims focusses on three different psychiatric hospitals in three parts of the country - Rome, Florence and the small Calabrian town of Girifalco, which had different attitudes and therapeutic approaches. Archive research results are contextualised within the psychiatric theory of the time, highlighting the existing discrepancies between theory and daily routine practice of mental health institutions in Italy during the regime. Using a variety of sources, Gabriella Romano expands current knowledge of the history of Italian psychiatry, and, in doing so, she also touches a number of crucial issues of medical history, history of Fascism and queer history. Most importantly, this original and well-documented study sheds light on the life stories of ordinary LGBT individuals and their families under the fascist regime, a topic that is still mostly unexplored.
Download or read book Criminology and Criminal Policy Movements written by Eugenio Raúl Zaffaroni and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2013 with total page 495 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "These studies recover the historical roots of thinking that are in conflict with, and critical of, present-day tendencies. Criminological theory over the last few decades has oscillated between extremes: on one side there are calls for increasing the state exercise of punitive power as the only means of providing security, in the face of both urban and international rime; while the other side highlights the need for reducing the exercise of punitive power because of the paradoxical effects that it produces. Useful for academics, practitioners, professionals and students, this book will certainly contribute to a wider awareness in crime prevention and criminal justice."--Publisher's website.

Download or read book Handbook of Research on Healthcare Standards Policies and Reform written by Comite, Ubaldo and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2022-04-08 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The healthcare industry has been the center of attention recently as it continues to have a major impact on private and public organizations, government institutions, and consumers. An increasing number of requests for healthcare has led to the implementation of new policies and reform proposals that are challenging as they can have a simultaneous impact on different categories of users. As many health, individual, and organizational activities continue to grow and are conducted in the general environment, new vulnerabilities have emerged that have led to the need to study the system from a different angle. The nature, source, and complexity of healthcare is not always clear, and many times health issues are underestimated. The Handbook of Research on Healthcare Standards, Policies, and Reform examines the complex issues, various problems, and innovative solutions that are linked to healthcare standards, policies, and reform. This comprehensive reference work provides important knowledge that impacts healthcare improvement from the perspective of multiple disciplines, adding innovation value to solving health issues. Covering topics such as health protection, psychological health, and healthcare technology, it is an essential resource for academicians, healthcare practitioners, researchers, healthcare scientists, professional bodies, professors and students of higher education, and policymakers.

Download or read book Moda e Psicologia del colore l impatto emotivo sull abbigliamento written by MAX EDITORIAL and published by Max Editorial. This book was released on 2024-05-29 with total page 52 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
