Book Tackling Turbulent Flows in Engineering

Download or read book Tackling Turbulent Flows in Engineering written by Anupam Dewan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-10-23 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The emphasis of this book is on engineering aspects of fluid turbulence. The book explains for example how to tackle turbulence in industrial applications. It is useful to several disciplines, such as, mechanical, civil, chemical, aerospace engineers and also to professors, researchers, beginners, under graduates and post graduates. The following issues are emphasized in the book: - Modeling and computations of engineering flows: The author discusses in detail the quantities of interest for engineering turbulent flows and how to select an appropriate turbulence model; Also, a treatment of the selection of appropriate boundary conditions for the CFD simulations is given. - Modeling of turbulent convective heat transfer: This is encountered in several practical situations. It basically needs discussion on issues of treatment of walls and turbulent heat fluxes. - Modeling of buoyancy driven flows, for example, smoke issuing from chimney, pollutant discharge into water bodies, etc

Book River Flow 2014

Download or read book River Flow 2014 written by Anton J. Schleiss and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2014-08-12 with total page 2579 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The behaviour of river systems is a result of the complex interaction between flow, sediments, morphology and habitats. Furthermore, rivers are often used as a source of water supply and energy production as well as a waterway for transportation. The main challenge faced by river engineers today, in collaboration with environmental and ecological scientists, is to restore the channelized rivers under the constraints of high urbanization and limited space, as well as sustainable water use. During the seventh International Conference on Fluvial Hydraulics “River Flow 2014” at École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland, scientists and professionals from all over the world addressed this challenge and exchanged their knowledge regarding fluvial hydraulics and river morphology. This book comprises the proceedings of the high quality contributions of the participants, which reflect the state-of-the-art in the fields of river hydrodynamics, morphodynamics, sediment transport, river engineering and restoration. The conference was organized under the auspices of the Committee on Fluvial Hydraulics of the International Association for Hydro-Environment Engineering and Research (IAHR). Past River Flow conferences have witnessed a significant increase in participation of our community of river engineers and researchers, confirming the need for such a forum.

Book Engineering Fluid Dynamics 2019 2020

Download or read book Engineering Fluid Dynamics 2019 2020 written by Bjørn H. Hjertager and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-02-25 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the successful submissions to a Special Issue of Energies entitled “Engineering Fluid Dynamics 2019–2020”. The topic of engineering fluid dynamics includes both experimental and computational studies. Of special interest were submissions from the fields of mechanical, chemical, marine, safety, and energy engineering. We welcomed original research articles and review articles. After one-and-a-half years, 59 papers were submitted and 31 were accepted for publication. The average processing time was about 41 days. The authors had the following geographical distribution: China (15); Korea (7); Japan (3); Norway (2); Sweden (2); Vietnam (2); Australia (1); Denmark (1); Germany (1); Mexico (1); Poland (1); Saudi Arabia (1); USA (1); Serbia (1). Papers covered a wide range of topics including analysis of free-surface waves, bridge girders, gear boxes, hills, radiation heat transfer, spillways, turbulent flames, pipe flow, open channels, jets, combustion chambers, welding, sprinkler, slug flow, turbines, thermoelectric power generation, airfoils, bed formation, fires in tunnels, shell-and-tube heat exchangers, and pumps.
