Book Studies of Hydrogen air Supersonic Combustion at Low Densities

Download or read book Studies of Hydrogen air Supersonic Combustion at Low Densities written by James E. Drewry and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 35 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An investigation of supersonic combustion as related to propulsive systems for high Mach number, high altitude flight is described. A method of laboratory simulation is employed which is considered to be suitable for fundamental studies of diffusional-controlled supersonic combustion under conditions approaching those of actual flight. A numerical analysis of the mixing and chemical reaction processes in a hydrogen-air ducted flow system was carried out, using a computer code based upon boundary layer concepts and including the effects of finite-rate chemistry. Results of the numerical calculations have indicated the inlet conditions at which auto-ignition is expected to occur within a reasonable combustor length. Based on the numerical data obtained, a constant area-divergent area combustion chamber was designed and fabricated for the performance of experimental tests under conditions closely matching those of the numerical study. Book Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Supersonic Combustion

Download or read book Theoretical and Experimental Investigation of Supersonic Combustion written by Antonio Ferri and published by . This book was released on 1962 with total page 136 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A theoretical and experimental investigation of mixing and supersonic combustion is presented. A review of the problem under investigation is given. Then an analysis of inviscid flow fields with a finite rate chemistry for a hydrogen-air reaction is presented, an an analysis of a turbulent mixing for flows with large density gradients with no chemical reaction is presented. The analysis is compared wit the experimental results. Results of the experiments in upersonic combustion are presented. (Author).

Download or read book Turbulent Reactive Flows written by R. Borghi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-08 with total page 958 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Turbulent reactive flows are of common occurrance in combustion engineering, chemical reactor technology and various types of engines producing power and thrust utilizing chemical and nuclear fuels. Pollutant formation and dispersion in the atmospheric environment and in rivers, lakes and ocean also involve interactions between turbulence, chemical reactivity and heat and mass transfer processes. Considerable advances have occurred over the past twenty years in the understanding, analysis, measurement, prediction and control of turbulent reactive flows. Two main contributors to such advances are improvements in instrumentation and spectacular growth in computation: hardware, sciences and skills and data processing software, each leading to developments in others. Turbulence presents several features that are situation-specific. Both for that reason and a number of others, it is yet difficult to visualize a so-called solution of the turbulence problem or even a generalized approach to the problem. It appears that recognition of patterns and structures in turbulent flow and their study based on considerations of stability, interactions, chaos and fractal character may be opening up an avenue of research that may be leading to a generalized approach to classification and analysis and, possibly, prediction of specific processes in the flowfield. Predictions for engineering use, on the other hand, can be foreseen for sometime to come to depend upon modeling of selected features of turbulence at various levels of sophistication dictated by perceived need and available capability.

Book Jet in Supersonic Crossflow

Download or read book Jet in Supersonic Crossflow written by Mingbo Sun and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-02-18 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on research into jets in supersonic crossflow carried out by the authors’ team over the past 15 years, this book summarizes and presents many cutting-edge findings and analyses on this subject. It tackles the complicated mixing process of gas jets and atomization process of liquid jets in supersonic crossflow, and studies their physical mechanisms. Advanced experimental and numerical techniques are applied to further readers’ understanding of atomization, mixing, and combustion of fuel jets in supersonic crossflow, which can promote superior fuel injection design in scramjet engines. The book offers a valuable reference guide for all researchers and engineers working on the design of scramjet engines, and will also benefit graduate students majoring in aeronautical and aerospace engineering.
