Book Self images

Download or read book Self images written by André Rival and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Andre Rival, at home in both Paris and Berlin, has created a fascinating project out of a relatively simple idea: 100 women taking photographs of themselves. The outcome is both startling and impressive. It is an expression of contemporary female identity - self-aware, distinctive and thoroughly positive, in a series of nude photographs that inexorably capture and hold our attention, revealing at the same time the artist's highly creative approach to the medium of photography and to the individual selves of the women portrayed. The author describes his project in this way: "We are inundated with pictures of women in the media. Ordinarily, the pictures we see seek to achieve a kind of 'sameness' based on unwritten ideals of beauty; physical perfection, total fitness become the determining factors. These images of women, provoked as they are by the media industry, awakened in me the urge to confront both that industry and myself with something else. I chose to set aside my own ways of thinking and do a series of 100 women in which it was not I who would put together the photographs, but the women themselves. For this purpose, I gave them each a shutter-switch and left the room. That represented the beginning of the attempt to enable the women to become photographic subjects rather than objects; they were left to decide on their own which personal image of themselves they wanted to convey. The conditions were the same for all of the women: the same lighting, the same white background and the same unchanged camera position. It was essential to fix the location of the camera, so that the women did not perceive themselves as being pursued by an 'observer'; instead, they were able to establishdistance and camera angle themselves with the aid of a video screen that showed them each camera exposure as a still photo".

Book excerpt: White Women, Helmut Newton's legendary first work, appeared more than twenty years ago. With it's superior mixture of aesthetics, technical perfection and bourgeois decadence it has lost nothing of its potency and attractiveness. Newton's work encompasses a wealth of themes, also embodying facets of the mass-media world of glamour, masquerade and show. Using subtle, yet striking images—like those of Paloma Picasso, Veruschka, Elsa Peretti, Karl Lagerfeld, David Hockney, and Charlotte Rampling—Newton embraces the delicate, natural beauty of the naked female body. White Women is a masterpiece of erotic visual literature.

Book excerpt: Scheunemann's deceptively matter-of-fact images of her sexual confidants are refreshing in that they manage to enter the private world of home sex without releasing any of the frisson of violation and coercion, almost always present in erotic photography.

Book ZZYZX

Download or read book ZZYZX written by and published by Mack. This book was released on 2016 with total page 157 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The early settlers dubbed California The Golden State, and The Land of Milk and Honey. Today there are the obvious ironies -- sprawl, spaghetti junctions and skid row--but the place is not so easily distilled or visualized, either as a clichéd paradise or as its demise. There's a strange kind of harmony when it's all seen together--the sublime, the psychedelic, the self-destructive. Like all places, it's unpredictable and contradictory, but to greater extremes. Cultures and histories coexist, the beautiful sits next to the ugly, the redemptive next to the despairing, and all under a strange and singular light, as transcendent as it is harsh. The pictures in this book begin in the desert east of Los Angeles and move west through the city, ending at the Pacific. This general westward movement alludes to a thirst for water, as well as the original expansion of America, which was born in the East and which hungrily drove itself West until reaching the Pacific, thereby fulfilling its "manifest" destiny." -- Publisher's description

Book Sendnudes Ediz Illustrata

Download or read book Sendnudes Ediz Illustrata written by Mendo and published by TeNeues. This book was released on 2018 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: - A visually stunning book that approaches erotic photography from a female point of view, curated by Iman Whitfield - Features young and exciting photographers from around the globe - Celebrates the diversity of female beauty and body confidence in the 21st century If you spend a reasonable amount of time online, chances are you may have stumbled across the phrase: #SENDNUDES. A staple of millennial lingo, the term is used to request sexually explicit photographs, typically over text messaging and dating apps. Over time, #SENDNUDES has also evolved into a meme, deployed as a common punchline in image and video internet jokes. Today, #SENDNUDES is making another transition -- as the title of a carefully curated book of nude photography. In collaboration with Iman Whitfield, MENDO reached out to photographers all over the world and asked them to send their favorite shots of female sensuality and intimacy. The result is a visually stunning photo collection approaching erotic photography from a female point of view, celebrating the diversity of female beauty and body confidence, and teasing the delicate line between that which is revealed and that which remains private. The featured images were sent from all over the world, from such highly skilled erotic photographers as Dennis Swiatkowski, Fauve Bouwman, and Paul Bellaart -- each bringing a distinctive style and approach to female sensuality, intimacy, and elegance.
