Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper summarizes the early results and current status of a research program at ORNL which is intended to provide the methods and technical basis for NRC to initiate the use of the Systems Approach to Training (SAT) in the evaluation of training programs and entry level qualifications for NPP control room personnel. The program is an outgrowth of previous studies of simulator hardware and simulator training requirements under the Safety Related Operator Actions Program which recommended adaptation of a systems methodology to development and evaluation of NPP training programs.

Book Evaluation of Training Programs and Entry level Qualifications for Nuclear power plant Control room Personnel Based on the Systems Approach to Training

Download or read book Evaluation of Training Programs and Entry level Qualifications for Nuclear power plant Control room Personnel Based on the Systems Approach to Training written by and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report summarizes results of research sponsored by the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Office of Nuclear Regulatory Research to initiate the use of the Systems Approach to Training in the evaluation of training programs and entry level qualifications for nuclear power plant (NPP) personnel. Variables (performance shaping factors) of potential importance to personnel selection and training are identified, and research to more rigorously define an operationally useful taxonomy of those variables is recommended. A high-level model of the Systems Approach to Training for use in the nuclear industry, which could serve as a model for NRC evaluation of industry programs, is presented. The model is consistent with current publically stated NRC policy, with the approach being followed by the Institute for Nuclear Power Operations, and with current training technology. Checklists to be used by NRC evaluators to assess training programs for NPP control-room personnel are proposed which are based on this model.

Book American National Standard

Download or read book American National Standard written by American Nuclear Society. Standards Committee Working Group ANS-3.1 and published by . This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ANS 3.1-2014 (R2020) provides criteria for the selection, qualification, and training of personnel for nuclear power plants. The qualifications of personnel in the operating organizations appropriate to safe and efficient operation of a nuclear power plant are addressed in terms of the minimum education, experience, and training requirements. Requirements of this standard do not apply to test, mobile, training, and research reactors. The purpose of this standard is to provide guidance for functional levels and job positions as they exist in the operating organization. Each owner organization defines its organizational structure, responsibilities of groups, and responsibilities of individuals within the operating organization. Qualification requirements include eduction, experience, and training. This standard provides qualification guidance to meet the particular organizational needs that are derived from the requirements contained in this standard. This standard requires a training development process based on the performance requirements of the job, and, as such, does not prescribe specific training program content. This standard is not intended to prescribe specific job titles or responsibilities of organizational postions. The education and experience requirements hould be applied to the function and may not directly match the titles listed in this standard.

Book Systematic Approach to Training for Nuclear Facility Personnel Processes Methodology and Practices

Download or read book Systematic Approach to Training for Nuclear Facility Personnel Processes Methodology and Practices written by IAEA and published by International Atomic Energy Agency. This book was released on 2021-05-18 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Training is an important tool to achieve and maintain the required competence of personnel working in nuclear facilities. Effective training and qualification of personnel are necessary for the achievement of high safety and efficiency standards in nuclear facility performance. Training and qualification combined is a key feature of the integrated management systems of nuclear facilities. It is these considerations that led to this publication which consolidates the experience gained worldwide using the systematic approach to training (SAT) for nuclear facility personnel. It provides a basis for establishing and sustaining the quality and reliability of training and qualification for all main categories of nuclear facility personnel. SAT has proved its effectiveness in nuclear and other safety critical industries over decades and is recognized as the best international practice in nuclear training. The publication details the processes and methodology, presents good practices and offers recommendations from the experts in the field on the entire set of activities within the SAT–based training methodology and provides examples of SAT application. It builds on, and supersedes, guidance provided in an earlier IAEA publication (Technical Report Series 380, Nuclear Power Plant Personnel Training and its Evaluation: A Guidebook). A key feature of this publication is demonstrating how SAT–based training serves as one of the important processes in a nuclear facility management system and how it integrates with other processes.

Book Nuclear Education and Training

Download or read book Nuclear Education and Training written by OECD Nuclear Energy Agency and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The OECD Nuclear Energy Agency (NEA) first published in 2000 Nuclear Education and Training: Cause for Concern?, which highlighted significant issues in the availability of human resources for the nuclear industry. Ten years on, Nuclear Education and Training: From Concern to Capability considers what has changed in that time and finds that, while some countries have taken positive actions, in a number of others human resources could soon be facing serious challenges in coping with existing and potential new nuclear facilities. This is exacerbated by the increasing rate of retirement as the workforce ages. This report provides a qualitative characterisation of human resource needs and appraises instruments and programmes in nuclear education and training initiated by various stakeholders in different countries. In this context, it also examines the current and future uses of nuclear research facilities for education and training purposes. Regarding the nuclear training component of workforce competence, it outlines a job taxonomy which could be a basis for addressing the needs of workers across this sector. It presents the taxonomy as a way of enhancing mutual recognition and increasing consistency of education and training for both developed and developing countries.
