Book Use and Processing of Nuclear Emulsions as Particle Detectors

Download or read book Use and Processing of Nuclear Emulsions as Particle Detectors written by Katsura Fukui and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper was written primarily for the technicians who handle nuclear emulsions. It covers some of the fundamental techniques for the daily use of nuclear emulsion in the laboratory. Although some newly developed methods are included, most effort was devoted to giving further detail on already established methods. Techniques for preparing the emulsion sample, exposing the emulsion to radiation, processing the emulsion, photomicrography, scanning, and measuring are described in simple language.

Book Particle Physics Reference Library

Download or read book Particle Physics Reference Library written by Christian W. Fabjan and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020 with total page 1083 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second open access volume of the handbook series deals with detectors, large experimental facilities and data handling, both for accelerator and non-accelerator based experiments. It also covers applications in medicine and life sciences. A joint CERN-Springer initiative, the "Particle Physics Reference Library" provides revised and updated contributions based on previously published material in the well-known Landolt-Boernstein series on particle physics, accelerators and detectors (volumes 21A, B1,B2,C), which took stock of the field approximately one decade ago. Central to this new initiative is publication under full open access

Book Radiation Studies from Nuclear Emulsions and Metallic Components Recovered from Polar Satellite Orbits

Download or read book Radiation Studies from Nuclear Emulsions and Metallic Components Recovered from Polar Satellite Orbits written by Herman Yagoda and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study discusses two blocks of Ilford G5 emulsions, plus metallic components, that were recovered from the polar orbiting satellites, Discoverer XVII and XVIII. This discussion covers the Class 3+ flare of 12 Nov 1960 in relation to the Discoverer XVII exposure; photographic processing of satellite-exposed emulsions; preliminary cosmic-ray observations on orbited emulsions; and radiochemical analyses of the Discoverer capsules. Book Interactions of Energetic Neon with Emulsion Nuclei

Download or read book Interactions of Energetic Neon with Emulsion Nuclei written by Peter J. McNulty and published by . This book was released on 1972 with total page 18 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Measurements of interactions of 280 MeV/nucleon neon nuclei from the Princeton Particle Accelerator with nuclei in emulsions are reported. It is found that the dominant mechanism for nucleus-nucleus interactions for incident neon energies as low as 100 MeV/nucleon is the production of charged and/or neutral pions. (Author).

Book excerpt: A technique for visualizing Earth's subsurface at high resolution Hidden out of sight in Earth’s subsurface are a range of geophysical structures, processes, and material movements. Muography is a passive and non-destructive remote sensing technique that visualizes the internal structure of solid geological structures at high resolution, similar in process to X-ray radiography of human bodies. Muography: Exploring Earth's Subsurface with Elementary Particles explores the application of this imaging technique in the geosciences and how it can complement conventional geophysical observations. Volume highlights include: Principles of muography and pioneering works in the field Different approaches for muographic image processing Observing volcanic structures and activity with muography Using muography for geophysical exploration and mining engineering Potential environmental applications of muography Latest technological developments in muography The American Geophysical Union promotes discovery in Earth and space science for the benefit of humanity. Its publications disseminate scientific knowledge and provide resources for researchers, students, and professionals.

Book excerpt: Measurements of neutron spectra with nuclear emulsion at various distances from a 14 MeV neutron source were made at the Nevada Test Site during Operation HENRE. These measurements and supplementary ones made using the neutron flux integrator developed at the Lawrence Radiation Laboratory, and a version of Bonner's spectrometer, are compared with theoretical calculations. Overall agreement was found to be good.

Book Emulsions Structure Stability and Interactions

Download or read book Emulsions Structure Stability and Interactions written by Dimiter N. Petsev and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2004-10-14 with total page 781 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Emulsions: Structure, Stability and Interactions is the perfect handbook for scientists looking to obtain up-to-date knowledge about the fundamentals of emulsion science, and those looking to familiarize themselves with the subject in greater detail. As a 'stand-alone' source of information, it is also ideal for solving the practical issues encountered daily in the field of emulsion science. While each chapter presents a concise review on a specific topic, the book offers a consistent presentation of the important physical concepts relevant to emulsions. Some of the topics covered include statistical mechanics of fluid interfaces, the structure of fluid interfaces determined by neutron scattering, hydrodynamic interactions and stability of emulsion films, theory of emulsion flocculation, coalescence kinetics of Brownian emulsions, and Brownian dynamics simulation of emulsion stability. - Full and comprehensive presentations - Rigorous approach to each topic, providing in-depth information - Acts as a 'stand-alone' source of information
