Book Systems Biology for Signaling Networks

Download or read book Systems Biology for Signaling Networks written by Sangdun Choi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-08-09 with total page 900 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: System Biology encompasses the knowledge from diverse fields such as Molecular Biology, Immunology, Genetics, Computational Biology, Mathematical Biology, etc. not only to address key questions that are not answerable by individual fields alone, but also to help in our understanding of the complexities of biological systems. Whole genome expression studies have provided us the means of studying the expression of thousands of genes under a particular condition and this technique had been widely used to find out the role of key macromolecules that are involved in biological signaling pathways. However, making sense of the underlying complexity is only possible if we interconnect various signaling pathways into human and computer readable network maps. These maps can then be used to classify and study individual components involved in a particular phenomenon. Apart from transcriptomics, several individual gene studies have resulted in adding to our knowledge of key components that are involved in a signaling pathway. It therefore becomes imperative to take into account of these studies also, while constructing our network maps to highlight the interconnectedness of the entire signaling pathways and the role of that particular individual protein in the pathway. This collection of articles will contain a collection of pioneering work done by scientists working in regulatory signaling networks and the use of large scale gene expression and omics data. The distinctive features of this book would be: Act a single source of information to understand the various components of different signaling network (roadmap of biochemical pathways, the nature of a molecule of interest in a particular pathway, etc.), Serve as a platform to highlight the key findings in this highly volatile and evolving field, and Provide answers to various techniques both related to microarray and cell signaling to the readers.

Book Fundamentals Of Radiation Biology

Download or read book Fundamentals Of Radiation Biology written by Susan B Klein and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2023-01-04 with total page 399 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fundamentals of Radiation Biology presents a contemporary, comprehensive review of the interactions between ionizing radiations and biological materials, tracking the consequences to three inevitable endpoints: cell restitution, cell death, or cell transformation. The introductory narrative is followed by examination of larger scale phenomena including tissue responses to radiation injury, organ failure modes, and resultant human illness including cancer. Ultimately, Fundamentals of Radiation Biology considers circumstantial radiation incidents impacting biological systems including radiological terrorism and radiation pollution remediation. Chapters presenting an overview of carcinogenesis and radiation therapy techniques based in radiobiology discuss two significant expansions central to the concerns of the text. This book takes an unprecedented narrative approach to radiobiology; each chapter expands on the fundamentals surveyed previously to lead the reader steadily to a panorama of radiation biocomplexity. No biological event happens in isolation. Actions evoke reactions that alter structures and cause living systems to adapt. It also examines the components constituting mammalian radiation response machinery and correlates them with resultant physiological behaviors.

Download or read book Systems Biology written by Robert A. Meyers and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-07-02 with total page 729 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Systems biology is a relatively new biological study field that focuses on the systematic study of complex interactions in biological systems, thus using a new perspective (integration instead of reduction) to study them. Particularly from year 2000 onwards, the term is used widely in the biosciences, and in a variety of contexts. Systems biology is the study of the interconnected aspect of molecular, cellular, tissue, whole animal and ecological processes, and comprises mathematical and mechanistic studies of dynamical, mesoscopic, open, spatiotemporally defined, nonlinear, complex systems that are far from thermodynamic equilibrium.

Book The Complete Idiot s Guide to College Biology

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Biology is the study of life—the structure, function, growth, origin, and evolution of living things. Biology and chemistry work together to create what many people think of as "science." And passing Biology 101 in college is the entryway to further study in the sciences - if you can't do well in it, you aren't moving ahead. The Complete Idiot's Guide® to College Biology follows the curriculum to Biology 101 so closely that it serves as a perfect study guide to it, and it's also great for the AP Biology and SAT Subject Biology exams that high school students are taking in droves. Students can turn to it when their textbooks are unclear or as an additional aid throughout the semester. The guide covers: • Complicated processes such as photosynthesis and cellular respiration • Explanations of complex biology, from DNA to ecosystems • Offers online extras, including a chapter on microbes and an extended glossary Suitable for the new learner or as a refresher for former students, The Complete Idiot's Guide® to College Biology brings biology to the reader in a relaxed, accessible way.
