Nowmillennial Dispensationalism (a new term coined by the author) takes a fresh look at, and gives clear answers to, the millennial controversy that has many students of Bible prophecy confused and/or divided today. This work is the result of much discussion, Bible study, and careful comparison of the various millennial views, with an objective evaluation of each side. In the end, the reader will be left to choose between only two possible views--Premillennialism and Nowmillennialism.

Book Three Views on the Millennium and Beyond

Download or read book Three Views on the Millennium and Beyond written by Craig A. Blaising and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 1999 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are these the last days? Could Jesus return at any time to establish his thousand-year reign on earth? What is the nature of Christ's millennial kingdom referred to in the book of Revelation? What must happen before Jesus returns, and what part does the church play? Three predominant views held by evangelicals seek to answer these and related questions: premillennial, postmillennial, and amillennial. This book gives each view a forum for presentation, critique, and defense. Besides each contributor's personal perspective, various interpretations of the different positions are discussed in the essays. Three Views on the Millennium and Beyond lets you compare and contrast three important eschatological viewpoints to gain a better understanding of how Christianity's great hope, the return of Jesus, is understood by the church. The Counterpoints series provides a forum for comparison and critique of different views on issues important to Christians. Counterpoints books address two categories: Church Life and Bible and Theology. Complete your library with other books in the Counterpoints series.

Book Death of the Church Victorious

Download or read book Death of the Church Victorious written by Ovid Need and published by Chalcedon Foundation. This book was released on with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Death of the Church Victorious traces, with abundant documentation, the roots and modern growth of “Protestant Zionism” and dispensational theology, i.e., God working in different ways in different periods of time, from its roots in the late 1700’s to the late 1900’s. The new and unique ideas presented during that time were considered unorthodox, even heresy. But through dedication and hard work, men such as John Darby, George Muller, Hudson Taylor, and Dwight Moody changed Christianity from victory to defeat, and exalted “Zionism” over the “Gospel Church.” Now non-dispensational theology is considered unorthodox. Moody’s Northfield conferences, the Civil War, and the publication of Scofield’s popular Reference Bible allowed “Zionism” and dispensationalism to become legitimate Biblical doctrines in America. If Protestants find a monk’s retreat from the world wrong, is their otherworldliness any the less objectionable? “Ovid Need’s study of Death of the Church Victorious, Tracing the Roots and Implications of Otherworldliness is a work of major importance. A false spirituality and an otherworldliness of anti-Biblical characters have long plagued the Christian Church and hobbled its progress… “Pastor Need analyzes those views in evangelical circles which are working against the future of the faith. His study is a summons to a Biblical faith and power. It is written with grace and insight. Its timelessness cannot be overstated. It is a joy to read, and a work that the Christian community should be grateful for.” ~ R. J. Rushdoony (from the Foreword) “Pastor Need brings to light dispensationalism’s dire effects: pessimism instead of prevailing, cowardice instead of conquering, isolation instead of involvement – a system offering a “rapturous” sneaking away at “any moment” instead of encouraging the saints to subjugate and subdue the enemy until victory is obtained!” ~ Dave MacPherson (from the foreword) This title is a direct print from and original copy.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 1948 "restoration" of Israel to the land was heralded as "The Super Sign of The End." Of course, the countdown necessitated by that "restoration" has now been proven false. Nonetheless, in the Millennial view, the land is everything. Salvation is in "the land." We are told that in the coming kingdom, the land will be the "center of the world." Christ will rule the world from Jerusalem. Failure to pilgrimage to the land and Jerusalem will result in destruction! But, is this actually what the Bible teaches? The answer is a resounding "NO!" In this insightful, compelling, "fresh" look at Colossians, prolific author, Don K. Preston (D. Div.) shows that Colossians- and particularly chapter 3:1-2- falsifies all emphasis on the land of Israel! After all, Paul said, "do not set your minds on the land!" This is a powerful, challenging, important and convincing book!

Book A Case for Historic Premillennialism

Download or read book A Case for Historic Premillennialism written by Craig L. Blomberg and published by Baker Academic. This book was released on 2009-02-01 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many evangelical readers who have learned the basics of eschatology from popular authors and more recently from novelists assume that dispensational premillennialism, with its distinctive teachings about the pretribulation rapture of the church, is the only reliable view of the end times and the return of Christ. This volume, however, offers a compelling case for an alternative perspective--one that was widely prevalent throughout church history. The contributors, all respected scholars in their respective fields, suggest that classic premillennialism offers believers a more coherent and viable approach to understanding eschatology. Their studies, which examine eschatology from biblical, theological, historical, and missiological approaches, provide a broadly accessible argument for returning to the perspectives of historic premillennial eschatology.

Book Acts 1 Dispensationalism

Download or read book Acts 1 Dispensationalism written by Steve Urick and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2014-01-28 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dispensational Theology is crucial to understanding the Bible. But most people to not comprehend the similar but distinct ministry and message of Jesus and the twelve apostles to the Jews, in relation to Paul, the apostle to the Gentiles, during the transitional time of the early church. Acts 1 Dispensationalism provides the solution to the great dispensational debate that has divided all of Christendom. It carefully divides the Word by using literal-grammatical-historical methods of interpretation and corrects several commonly held errors. In this book one will gain a better understanding of the mission of Jesus and the Twelve to Israel, and Paul's separate mission the the Genitle nations, and the purpose of water baptism in their ministries. In time, Acts 1 Dispensationalism may rival Acts 2, Progressive, and Mid-Acts Dispensationalism as a more viable biblical interpretation.

Book The Last Days of Dispensationalism

Download or read book The Last Days of Dispensationalism written by Alistair W. Donaldson and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2010-10-28 with total page 194 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How we understand God's future purposes for the world must shape, to a significant degree, how Christians live life in the present. The decades since the publication of Hal Lindsey's, The Late Great Planet Earth, have seen a great deal of "end-times" speculation. Signs of the end-time apocalypse occurring soon have been heralded across our radios, televisions, the internet, and through written forms of media, urging people to either be ready for the rapture or be left behind to endure the horrific suffering of the tribulation as God's end-time program unfolds. Is this really what the Bible teaches about the purposes of the God of whom our Bible declares "so loved the world" that he gave his only son in order that all things be reconciled. The Last Days of Dispensationalism carefully examines this popular understanding known to us as dispensationalism and urges us to think again and to see within the Bible's grand salvation narrative and in the person of Jesus Christ a better message of redemptive hope for the future and a greater sense of meaning and purpose for the present.

Book The Case for Progressive Dispensationalism

Download or read book The Case for Progressive Dispensationalism written by Robert Saucy and published by Zondervan Academic. This book was released on 2010-12-21 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Debate abounds on the future of Israel and Israel's relation to the church, not only between dispensationalists and non-dispensationalists, but among dispensationalists themselves. In the past that debate has sometimes been acrimonious, and proponents of the differing viewpoints have found little common ground. In recent years, however, views have been modified and developed so that the dialogue is increasingly by cooperation and a mutual exploration of diverse ideas. The Case for Progressive Dispensationalism is intended to enlighten the debate in that same irenic spirit. The book is solidly dispensational in perspective in affirming that the Old Testament prophecies are completely fulfilled in the future, that the nation of Israel has a prophetic future, and that Israel is not the church. Dr. Saucy departs from classic dispensationalism, however, in showing that (1) the fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy begins in the present church age, and (2) the church is not a parenthesis in God's program but represents a continuity with the Old Testament messianic program. This modified dispensationalism seeks to satisfy many of the objections of non-dispensational approaches to eschatology while retaining the crucial elements of biblical interpretation that characterize dispensational thought.
