Book p adic Banach Space Representations

Download or read book p adic Banach Space Representations written by Dubravka Ban and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-02-11 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book systematically develops the theory of continuous representations on p-adic Banach spaces. Its purpose is to lay the foundations of the representation theory of reductive p-adic groups on p-adic Banach spaces, explain the duality theory of Schneider and Teitelbaum, and demonstrate its applications to continuous principal series. Written to be accessible to graduate students, the book gives a comprehensive introduction to the necessary tools, including Iwasawa algebras, p-adic measures and distributions, p-adic functional analysis, reductive groups, and smooth and algebraic representations. Part 1 culminates with the duality between Banach space representations and Iwasawa modules. This duality is applied in Part 2 for studying the intertwining operators and reducibility of the continuous principal series on p-adic Banach spaces. This monograph is intended to serve both as a reference book and as an introductory text for graduate students and researchers entering the area.

Book Berkeley Lectures on P adic Geometry

Download or read book Berkeley Lectures on P adic Geometry written by Peter Scholze and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2020-05-26 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Berkeley Lectures on p-adic Geometry presents an important breakthrough in arithmetic geometry. In 2014, leading mathematician Peter Scholze delivered a series of lectures at the University of California, Berkeley, on new ideas in the theory of p-adic geometry. Building on his discovery of perfectoid spaces, Scholze introduced the concept of “diamonds,” which are to perfectoid spaces what algebraic spaces are to schemes. The introduction of diamonds, along with the development of a mixed-characteristic shtuka, set the stage for a critical advance in the discipline. In this book, Peter Scholze and Jared Weinstein show that the moduli space of mixed-characteristic shtukas is a diamond, raising the possibility of using the cohomology of such spaces to attack the Langlands conjectures for a reductive group over a p-adic field. This book follows the informal style of the original Berkeley lectures, with one chapter per lecture. It explores p-adic and perfectoid spaces before laying out the newer theory of shtukas and their moduli spaces. Points of contact with other threads of the subject, including p-divisible groups, p-adic Hodge theory, and Rapoport-Zink spaces, are thoroughly explained. Berkeley Lectures on p-adic Geometry will be a useful resource for students and scholars working in arithmetic geometry and number theory.

The book is written for graduate students and research mathematicians. It also would make a good reference source for those in related areas, such as classical functional analysis, complex analytic functions, probability theory, dynamical systems, orthomodular spaces, number theory, and representations of $p$-adic groups.

Book Topics in Probability and Lie Groups Boundary Theory

Download or read book Topics in Probability and Lie Groups Boundary Theory written by John Christopher Taylor and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2001 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is comprised of two parts: the first contains articles by S. N. Evans, F. Ledrappier, and Figa-Talomanaca. These articles arose from a Centre de Recherches de Mathematiques (CRM) seminar entitiled, ``Topics in Probability on Lie Groups: Boundary Theory''. Evans gives a synthesis of his pre-1992 work on Gaussian measures on vector spaces over a local field. Ledrappier uses the freegroup on $d$ generators as a paradigm for results on the asymptotic properties of random walks and harmonic measures on the Martin boundary. These articles are followed by a case study by Figa-Talamanca using Gelfand pairs to study a diffusion on a compact ultrametric space. The second part of the book is an appendix to the book Compactifications of Symmetric Spaces (Birkhauser) by Y. Guivarc'h and J. C. Taylor. This appendix consists of an article by each author and presents the contents of this book in a more algebraic way. L. Ji and J.-P. Anker simplifies some of their results on the asymptotics of the Green function that were used to compute Martin boundaries. And Taylor gives a self-contained account of Martin boundary theory for manifolds using the theory of second order strictly elliptic partial differential operators.

Book P adic Aspects Of Modular Forms

Download or read book P adic Aspects Of Modular Forms written by Baskar Balasubramanyam and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2016-06-14 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to give a systematic exposition of results in some important cases where p-adic families and p-adic L-functions are studied. We first look at p-adic families in the following cases: general linear groups, symplectic groups and definite unitary groups. We also look at applications of this theory to modularity lifting problems. We finally consider p-adic L-functions for GL(2), the p-adic adjoint L-functions and some cases of higher GL(n).

Book Modular Forms and Fermat s Last Theorem

Download or read book Modular Forms and Fermat s Last Theorem written by Gary Cornell and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1997 with total page 608 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A collection of expanded versions of lectures given at an instructional conference on number theory and arithmetic geometry held at Boston University. The purpose of the conference, and indeed this book, is to introduce and explain the many ideas and techniques used by Wiles in his proof, and to explain how his result can be combined with Ribet's theorem and ideas of Frey and Serre to show, at long last, that Fermat's Last Theorem is true. The book begins with an overview of the complete proof, theory of elliptic curves, modular functions, modular curves, Galois cohomology, and finite group schemes. In recognition of the historical significance of Fermat's Last Theorem, the volume concludes by reflecting on the history of the problem, while placing Wiles' theorem into a more general Diophantine context suggesting future applications.

Book Elliptic Curves and Arithmetic Invariants

Download or read book Elliptic Curves and Arithmetic Invariants written by Haruzo Hida and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-13 with total page 464 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains a detailed account of the result of the author's recent Annals paper and JAMS paper on arithmetic invariant, including μ-invariant, L-invariant, and similar topics. This book can be regarded as an introductory text to the author's previous book p-Adic Automorphic Forms on Shimura Varieties. Written as a down-to-earth introduction to Shimura varieties, this text includes many examples and applications of the theory that provide motivation for the reader. Since it is limited to modular curves and the corresponding Shimura varieties, this book is not only a great resource for experts in the field, but it is also accessible to advanced graduate students studying number theory. Key topics include non-triviality of arithmetic invariants and special values of L-functions; elliptic curves over complex and p-adic fields; Hecke algebras; scheme theory; elliptic and modular curves over rings; and Shimura curves.
