This book was released on 1995-10-22 with total page 504 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Between Long Island Sound and the elbow of Cape Cod lies a richly varied cruising ground. A Cruising Guide to Narragansett Bay and the South Coast of Massachusetts is the definitive cruising guide to these waters. Its coverage extends to the headwaters of Narragansett Bay and miles offshore to the solitude of Block Island and Nantucket. Longtime area boaters Lynda and Patrick Childress and Tink Martin take you on a personal tour with all you need for a day, a weekend, or several weeks of cruising. They provide essential information on weather, tides, currents, and pilotage, as well as the availability of moorings and the closest place to pick up provisions. The unique harbor rating system shows at a glance what each anchorage offers in facilities, protection, beauty, and interest. Maps and charts help negotiate tricky channels or find that hidden marina. When you've dropped anchor and are sitting back in the cockpit after a day's cruising, the guide continues to inform you, pointing out places to go for food and entertainment, where to find hiking trails, picnic and fishing spots, wildlife sanctuaries, museums, and more. In addition, the authors give cruisers the historical context in which to view the passing scenery, and they impart a deep affection for the region's unique character.

Download or read book Cooperative Control written by Vijay Kumar and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-10-20 with total page 310 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are there universal principles of coordinated group motion and if so what might they be? This carefully edited book presents how natural groupings such as fish schools, bird flocks, deer herds etc. coordinate themselves and move so flawlessly, often without an apparent leader or any form of centralized control. It shows how the underlying principles of cooperative control may be used for groups of mobile autonomous agents to help enable a large group of autonomous robotic vehicles in the air, on land or sea or underwater, to collectively accomplish useful tasks such as distributed, adaptive scientific data gathering, search and rescue, or reconnaissance.

Download or read book Rhode Island Shipwrecks written by Charlotte Taylor and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2017-04-24 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rhode Island, the Ocean State, has more shipwrecks per square mile than any other state. The south coast and Block Island are the resting places of many shipwrecks, with many more located in Narragansett Bay. The record of shipwrecks in Rhode Island begins immediately after the arrival of Europeans in the early 17th century with the grounding of a Dutch trading vessel, and thousands more vessels came to grief in its waters in the following centuries, through bad weather, human error, equipment failure, and military action. Some of these shipwrecks were epic disasters, with many fatalities and the total loss of the vessel; others were relatively minor misfortunes in which the ships were salvageable. Many shipwrecks from the 19th century on into the 20th were captured in the dramatic images gathered here. These pictures show the variety of vessels that travelled Rhode Island's waters back when the ocean was the primary transportation corridor and the many ways in which they met misfortune.
