Book Natural Process of Quitting Forever

Download or read book Natural Process of Quitting Forever written by William Weber, M.A. and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2009-01-20 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Natural Process of Quitting Forever was written over a period of years. It started when I was seeing people who wanted to avoid 12 Step attendances while still wanting to end alcohol and drug problems. The book we were using generated questions and was not specific about quitting forever. I was tape recording and video taping the sessions for my review. I noticed I was answering the same questions over again with different people. I wrote down what I was telling them and started using the essays when I talked with new people. I always encouraged people to criticize what was written for clarity and content. At a point in time, I had enough written where I comb bound the papers with a table of contents and started selling my book. I kept editing and revising and adding to the book until it reached the point of what you are reading today. Author House afforded me the opportunity to publish professionally what I had been publishing and selling using my desktop publishing program with comb binding. It was written talking to people about quitting forever all alcohol and drug use while they read the book for that purpose. People are quitting forever by reading the book The Natural Process of Quitting Forever. It was not something I sat down and wrote but was written because people quitting forever told me it was helpful information leading them along their path to recovery. Check out my web site: quittingforever.org where I explain core concepts using cartoon like graphic illustration with verbal and written explanation. The web site also has some short video explanations by me.

Book The Freedom Writers Diary 20th Anniversary Edition

Download or read book The Freedom Writers Diary 20th Anniversary Edition written by The Freedom Writers and published by Crown. This book was released on 2007-04-24 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The twentieth anniversary edition of the classic story of an incredible group of students and the teacher who inspired them, featuring updates on the students’ lives, new journal entries, and an introduction by Erin Gruwell Now a public television documentary, Freedom Writers: Stories from the Heart In 1994, an idealistic first-year teacher in Long Beach, California, named Erin Gruwell confronted a room of “unteachable, at-risk” students. She had intercepted a note with an ugly racial caricature and angrily declared that this was precisely the sort of thing that led to the Holocaust. She was met by uncomprehending looks—none of her students had heard of one of the defining moments of the twentieth century. So she rebooted her entire curriculum, using treasured books such as Anne Frank’s diary as her guide to combat intolerance and misunderstanding. Her students began recording their thoughts and feelings in their own diaries, eventually dubbing themselves the “Freedom Writers.” Consisting of powerful entries from the students’ diaries and narrative text by Erin Gruwell, The Freedom Writers Diary is an unforgettable story of how hard work, courage, and determination changed the lives of a teacher and her students. In the two decades since its original publication, the book has sold more than one million copies and inspired a major motion picture Freedom Writers. And now, with this twentieth-anniversary edition, readers are brought up to date on the lives of the Freedom Writers, as they blend indispensable takes on social issues with uplifting stories of attending college—and watch their own children follow in their footsteps. The Freedom Writers Diary remains a vital read for anyone who believes in second chances.

Book The Author of Love

  • Author : Joc Anderson
  • Publisher : WestBowPress
  • Release : 2011-07-08
  • ISBN : 144970803X
  • Pages : 386 pages

Download or read book The Author of Love written by Joc Anderson and published by WestBowPress. This book was released on 2011-07-08 with total page 386 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout history, God has been depicted variously as a judgmental tyrant, a grand conciliator, and even as a rather low-key comic, portrayed by the cigar-smoking George Burns in the movie Oh God! The question thats begging to be answered is: Who is God? This devotional evolved out of one persons desire to portray God in a truer light. In the Book of Job, God reprimanded Jobs friends for failing to speak truthfully about Him. They misrepresented His character. Job, on the other hand, understood His Maker and was, therefore, the single voice of truth in an otherwise corrupt world. Can you honestly say that you know your Creator? Can you speak truthfully about Him? This devotional will help you get to know the real God, who is neither the judgmental tyrant nor the light-weight movie character. He is, if nothing else, a God of love and compassion. At the conclusion of your devotionals, I have formulated a Love Quotient (L.Q.) test to measure the depth of your love. The questions are designed to be thought-provoking and insightful. You may also find them a bit daunting and uncomfortable. Answer each question according to your beliefs. There are no wrong or right answers. It is my hope youll find this little exercise revealing and instructive of how you love. The answers and Key is also included. Your heart is what youre all about. May you understand Gods love for you.

Book The Renaissance of Confucianism in Contemporary China

Download or read book The Renaissance of Confucianism in Contemporary China written by Ruiping Fan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-05-23 with total page 264 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new generation of Confucian scholars is coming of age. China is reawakening to the power and importance of its own culture. This volume provides a unique view of the emerging Confucian vision for China and the world in the 21st century. Unlike the Neo-Confucians sojourning in North America who recast Confucianism in terms of modern Western values, this new generation of Chinese scholars takes the authentic roots of Confucian thought seriously. This collection of essays offers the first critical exploration in English of the emerging Confucian, non-liberal, non-social-democratic, moral and political vision for China’s future. Inspired by the life and scholarship of Jiang Qing who has emerged as China's exemplar contemporary Confucian, this volume allows the English reader access to a moral and cultural vision that seeks to direct China’s political power, social governance, and moral life. For those working in Chinese studies, this collection provides the first access in English to major debates in China concerning a Confucian reconceptualization of governance, a critical Confucian assessment of feminism, Confucianism functioning again as a religion, and the possibility of a moral vision that can fill the cultural vacuum created by the collapse of Marxism.
