Book School Buildings Rehabilitation

Download or read book School Buildings Rehabilitation written by Ricardo M.S.F. Almeida and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-05-25 with total page 88 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses the effect of different school building rehabilitation strategies on the classrooms’ indoor environmental quality (IEQ) and presents a multi-objective methodology for school building enclosure optimization combining artificial neural networks and lifecycle costs. The special features of this book are that it (a) presents the state-of-the-art in school building rehabilitation, (b) covers the IEQ assessment of several school buildings, including non-rehabilitated and rehabilitated according to different strategies; and (c) proposes a multi-objective optimization procedure. The rehabilitation of a school building should be regarded as a procedure combining a number of (sometimes conflicting) variables and objectives, including energy, IEQ and costs (initial, operational and maintenance), in the search for an “optimum solution.” The main benefit of the book is that it discusses the main topics related to school building rehabilitation, presents results of the IEQ assessment on 9 school buildings and launches a discussion on how the “in-use” performance of schools is key to understanding how designed performance is actually experienced. It maps the most commonly used multi-objective algorithms and artificial neural network architectures and proposes a methodology for combining these numerical tools with dynamic building simulations and lifecycle cost analysis to optimize school building enclosures. This methodology will be of value to scientists and engineers alike, while also addressing a variety of related disciplines, such as civil and mechanical engineering, architecture and mathematics.

It specifies an objective for every game, gives step-by-step instructions, and offers questions for reflection. It provides possible variations for each game, examples, tips, and ideas for role plays. Each game contains references to appropriate follow-up games and is illustrated with charming drawings.

Book A Height weight Sizing System for Flight Clothing

Download or read book A Height weight Sizing System for Flight Clothing written by Irvin Emanuel and published by . This book was released on 1959 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "This report presents a height-weight sizing system for use by designers and fitters of flight clothing. The observations and recommendations reported here are based on a re-analysis of the body size data of the 1950 Anthropometric Survey of Air Force flying personnel. This re-analysis consisted of selecting pairs of dimensions and correlating these with other dimensions important in clothing design. Among the pairs studied, height and weight have been chosen as basic sizing dimensions because they generally yield the highest correlations with other bodily dimensions. In addition to presenting the methodology used in the present problem, the practical and statistical problems of developing a sizing system are thoroughly discussed. Finally, tables of body dimensional data are presented for several basic size programs (6-size, 8-size, 9-size, and 12-size), since the number of sizes varies with the type of garment. These tables include fitting charts, estimated procurement tariffs, design ranges, mean values for size groups, and bivariate tables for height and weight with size categories marked off for each program. The choice and application of these programs are discussed in detail. Descriptions of the selected body dimensions are included. Advantages of the height-weight system include improved fit, fewer alterations, minimal adjustability, and simplified procurement, distribution and fitting procedures."--Abstract.

Book Gas Engines and Co generation

Download or read book Gas Engines and Co generation written by and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Britain was one of the pioneers of the use of sewage gas in engines and in the use of a range of gaseous fuels in duel fuel engines. Gas engines, usually spark ignited, have probably been most widely used in the USA. Today, there is world-wide interest in using natural gas in IC engines for power generation and in heat recovery. Cogeneration is commercial in more and more countries as power demands exceed installed capabilities. combustion under any normal regime produces virtually no carbon (soot) nor hydrocarbons heavier than methane. For a given energy release, Methane produces less CO2 than any other hydrocarbon fuel. Nox control from its in IC engines is possible by using lean-burn techniques or catalytic control. packaged cogeneration; catalytic exhaust gas cleaning for engines used in cogeneration; emission control for IC including diesel engines; oxygen control for gas engines with catalytic convertors; controls and monitoring of gas engines; a model to predict performance and heat release in dual-fuel diesel engines.

Book Adoptive Families in a Diverse Society

Download or read book Adoptive Families in a Diverse Society written by Katarina Wegar and published by Rutgers University Press. This book was released on 2006 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Adoptive Families in a Diverse Society brings together twenty-one prominent scholars to explore the experience, practice, and policy of adoption in North America. Book Pattern Grading for Men s Clothes

Download or read book Pattern Grading for Men s Clothes written by Gerry Cooklin and published by Wiley-Blackwell. This book was released on 1993-01-18 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book sets out for students and professionals the practical principles and applications of pattern grading for men's clothing. The first chapters examine some examples of international sizing systems, develop the methods of calculating and validating the grading increments from a given size chart and demonstrate the working methods for manual grading. The main part of the book presents, in a simple stage by stage format, the applications of the system to a comprehensive range of men's garments. This is followed by a section containing examples of grades for styled garments, and each demonstration is preceded by a short discussion of the practical considerations involved. Finally the state of the art of computerised grading is explained and the latest developments in fully automatic grading are discussed, with some examples. A unique feature of this book is that some of the grading demonstrations include the grades for linings, fusibles and pockets, etc. How garment manufacturing technology influences specific aspects of pattern grading is also discussed.

  • Author : Harry R. Moody
  • Publisher : SAGE Publications

  • ISBN : 1506327990
  • Pages : 609 pages

Download or read book Aging written by Harry R. Moody and published by SAGE Publications. This book was released on 2017-01-12 with total page 609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presenting current research in an innovative text-reader format, Aging: Concepts and Controversies, Ninth Edition encourages students to become involved and take an informed stand on the major aging issues we face as a society. Not simply a summary of research literature, Harry R. Moody and Jennifer R. Sasser’s text focuses on controversies and questions, rather than on assimilating facts or arriving at a single "correct" view about aging and older people. Drawing on their extensive expertise, the authors first provide an overview of aging in three domains: aging over the life course, health care, and the socioeconomic aspects of aging. Each section is followed by a series of edited readings, offering different perspectives from experts and specialists on that subject. New readings focus on whether current federal spending on the elderly is sustainable and fair to other groups, how older consumers are reshaping the business landscape, and the challenges of marketing and selling to customers 60 and over. More emphasis is placed on how social class and inequality earlier in life can shape our final years and the number of older Americans living in poverty. The section on Aging and Health Care has been thoroughly updated to reflect the latest data about chronic diseases that affect the elderly, government spending on health care, and policy changes to programs like Medicaid and Medicare. The section on the Social and Economic Outlook for an Aging Society gives the most current picture of the racial and ethnic diversity of older Americans, their participation in the labor force, and their income and wealth.
