  • Pages : 446 pages

Download or read book Committed written by Winnie Chaplin-Knights and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2006 with total page 446 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Committed is a book written for those who prefer easy reading as opposed to reading with a Thesaurus in front of them to find the meanings and context of certain words. It is a South African tale which explains the lives of very normal people living very normal lives together with the mundane and also the exciting day to day experiences of being with the Police force in and around Southern Africa. Skip, a Jack Russell belonging to Terry lives his life as no normal little dog would, and shows his undivided and devoted love to his mistress spending all day with her as she patrols and combats crime on the streets. For his size he is dynamite. He can perform as well as any trained police dog and it pays off in the end as he receives an award for bravery. Committed is about commitment: love, hate and revenge. It is a lesson of life to those who are still innocent and virginal to life's problems. It focuses on abuse on women and why it is that women in particular find it so difficult to remove themselves out of an abusive relationship. I hope that you will enjoy the simple but exciting way that the story unravels itself with a cryptic and mysterious dream that Terry frequently has.

In despair, the bride encounters an old woman who leaves her with a hopeless future. The witch bears a grudge against Tulas father, compelling her to transform the girl into a sand being whose job is to provide water to those in need until true love rescues her. Meanwhile the king of the Noo Noos tribe decides to send his son Malik out to seek the Tree of Plenty to save his people from a great famine. Along the way, Malik encounters the spirit of the desert. His journey through the hot desert requires him to overcome challenging obstacles. He meets the Sandbride. His initial reaction to her appearance causes her to run away. Two mystical creatures are summoned to travel with Malik. Although Maliks travel seems dim, he eventually secures Tulas release, and she returns to her original state after the witchs evil deeds result in her demise. Book Whit s End

Download or read book Whit s End written by Whitney McKendree Moore and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2011-05-18 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whits End is the biography of a breakdown. It will bring hope to any Christian who is wringing their hands over a loved ones addiction. In author Whitney Moores family, the problem was related to alcohol, but addiction is addiction is addiction. This story proves that nothing is too hard for Godthat when we cant, God can. The victory that is unfolded in these pages starts with the shock of realizing there is even such as thing as functional alcoholism. When the problem is finally revealed, Moore finds help in a twelve-step recovery, where people learn to discern (and do!) Gods will. In meetings, people share the miracles that, for them, have started to unfold: Fear turning into faith Bondage turning into freedom Mourning turning into joy Moores story is full of evidence that what is impossible for man is possible with God, and that with Gods help, there is hope for the hopeless and help for the helpless. In short, God can, if only we will get out of His way. This book is for any Christian who loves an alcoholic.

Download or read book Anxious Joburg written by Nicky Falkof and published by Wits University Press. This book was released on 2020-10-01 with total page 312 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An interdisciplinary account of the life of Johannesburg, South Africa's "global south city" Anxious Joburg focuses on Johannesburg, the largest and wealthiest city in South Africa, as a case study for the contemporary global South city. Global South cities are often characterised as sites of contradiction and difference that produce a range of feelings around anxiety. This is often imagined in terms of the global North’s anxieties about the South: migration, crime, terrorism, disease and environmental crisis. Anxious Joburg invites readers to consider an intimate perspective of living inside such a city. How does it feel to live in the metropolis of Johannesburg: what are the conditions, intersections, affects and experiences that mark the contemporary urban? Scholars, visual artists and storytellers, all look at unexamined aspects of Johannesburg life. From peripheral settlements to the inner city to the affluent northern suburbs, from precarious migrants and domestic workers to upwardly mobile young women and fearful elites, Anxious Joburg presents an absorbing engagement with this frustrating, dangerous, seductive city. It offers a rigorous, critical approach to Johannesburg revealing the way in which anxiety is a vital structuring principle of contemporary life. The approach is strongly interdisciplinary, with contributions from media studies, anthropology, religious studies, urban geography, migration studies and psychology. It will appeal to students and teachers, as well as to academic researchers concerned with Johannesburg, South Africa, cities and the global South. The mix of approaches will also draw a non-academic audience.
