Book Thermal Radiative Transfer and Properties

Download or read book Thermal Radiative Transfer and Properties written by M. Quinn Brewster and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1992-04-16 with total page 578 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Not only enables readers to include radiation as part of their design and analysis but also appreciate the radiative transfer processes in both nature and engineering systems. Offers two distinguishing features--a whole chapter devoted to the classical dispersion theory which lays a foundation for the discussion of radiative properties presented throughout and a detailed description of particle radiative properties, including real particle size distribution effects. Presents numerous realistic and instructive illustrations and problems involving current topics such as planetary heat transfer, satellite thermal control, atmospheric radiation, radiation in industrial and propulsion combustion systems and more.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is part of a comprehensive review of the thermal radiative properties of air by the Lockheed Palo Alto Research Laboratory for the Defense Atomic Support Agency. The review was published as DASA 1917 (Unclassified) in four parts, April, 1967. Most of this material is now being offered in new editions by Plenum Press. The authors and editors hope that it will be more widely available to scientists and engineers who work in the various fields which require the use of high temperature air properties. F. R. Gilmore and A. Hochstim have revised and increased the material presented in DASA 1917-1 in "Equilibrium Thermodynamic Properties of Air" . The present editors have prepared an introduction for the tables presented in DASA 1917-3 so that "Tables of Radiative Properties of Air" offered herewith is essentially self-contained. A few more figures have been added and a number of errors have been corrected. We have also prepared a slightly revised edition of DASA 1917-4, "Excitation and Non-E"quilibrium Phenomena inAir," offered by Plenum Press at this time as a companion volume. DASA 1917-2, "The Radiative Properties of Heated Air" by B. H. Armstrong and R. W. Nicholls is not being offered in a new edition at this time.

Book Radiative Properties of Semiconductors

Download or read book Radiative Properties of Semiconductors written by N.M. Ravindra and published by Morgan & Claypool Publishers. This book was released on 2017-08-21 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optical properties, particularly in the infrared range of wavelengths, continue to be of enormous interest to both material scientists and device engineers. The need for the development of standards for data of optical properties in the infrared range of wavelengths is very timely considering the on-going transition of nano-technology from fundamental R&D to manufacturing. Radiative properties play a critical role in the processing, process control and manufacturing of semiconductor materials, devices, circuits and systems. The design and implementation of real-time process control methods in manufacturing requires the knowledge of the radiative properties of materials. Sensors and imagers operate on the basis of the radiative properties of materials. This book reviews the optical properties of various semiconductors in the infrared range of wavelengths. Theoretical and experimental studies of the radiative properties of semiconductors are presented. Previous studies, potential applications and future developments are outlined. In Chapter 1, an introduction to the radiative properties is presented. Examples of instrumentation for measurements of the radiative properties is described in Chapter 2. In Chapters 3-11, case studies of the radiative properties of several semiconductors are elucidated. The modeling and applications of these properties are explained in Chapters 12 and 13, respectively. In Chapter 14, examples of the global infrastructure for these measurements are illustrated.
