This book was released on 2024-08-28 with total page 764 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Old age will come to everyone and brings along with many challenges, particularly in socio-economic status, age related health problems, their shelter, protection from inner and outsider violence and legal rights. Elderly, just to exampfly, is like an almost one year old child, where the former has to be supported through all those processes as one year old or less in age. Elderly people due to his/her physical and mental imbalance as a result of age-related degeneration and younger ones due to their maturational process.as mentioned above, these two types of physical and mental degeneration and maturation in two groups face equal types of challenges in physical and mental wellbeing, legal protection, food, shelter, proper care of their health and education. Undoubtedly, infants and children are taken care their above-mentioned disabilities through a well-balanced parenthood., but on the other hand elderly problems are solved mostly by their, mentally normal grownup children supported by Governmental and non -Governmental schemes including well established old age homes, Govt legal support and physical and mental training backups It is well known that as a society we are living much longer thanks to improved living conditions and health care. While being able to reach old age is something to be thankful for, in many ways, there are several challenges facing the elderly, which we all need to pay more attention to. Often it is not until we start to age ourselves or we see a loved one struggling with a problem that we sit up and take notice, but as a society, we can do more to make life easier for our aging population. This book, therefore, highlights these problems faced by our elderly in thirty different chapters such as Issues and challenges faced by the Elderly and their management. The common chronic health conditions in Elderly. Exercises for Seniors: Effective ways to stay active. Yoga practices by seniors. Diet plans for older adults and senior citizens. Chores that are safe for seniors to help keep them active. Self-defence for senior Citizens. Spirituality and Aging. Elderly sex. Staying active in the bedroom. Artificial Intelligence-based smart comrade Robot for Elders healthcare. Implantable cardiac and Non- cardiac electronic Devices in elderly population. Cardiovascular diseases in the Elderly. Regulation of long-term care homes for older adults in India. Laws for protection and National Welfare Programmes for Elderly in India. Long-term care Insurance for the Elderly.

Book excerpt: A remote cabin. A family on edge. They are not alone. It was meant to be a family bonding exercise: two weeks in a mountain cabin on the outskirts of a former gold-mining town. These days, Wooralla’s only claim to fame is a retro diner called The Flying Saucer and a dusty museum dedicated to the area’s history of UFO sightings. Owen knows it’s all bogus, but at least it gives him something to do. Half a day into their holiday, Owen’s family is already bickering. By day two, his little sister is sick. On the third night, they witness peculiar lights in the sky. By day nine they are fleeing, too panicked to grab their phones, belongings, even the family dog. Owen doesn’t know what they’re running from, he only knows he needs to keep his little sister safe. But how can he tell anyone about his dad’s erratic behaviour? Weird howling from deep in the bush? Strange entities hiding in the trees? How does he explain what was real and what wasn’t when he doesn’t even know himself? In Owen’s search for answers, nothing is as it seems. And what he’ll uncover is beyond anything he imagined. YA thriller for teens aged 13+

Book The Architecture of Suspense

Download or read book The Architecture of Suspense written by Christine Madrid French and published by University of Virginia Press. This book was released on 2022-09-08 with total page 411 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The inimitable, haunting films of Alfred Hitchcock took place in settings, both exterior and interior, that deeply impacted our experiences of his most unforgettable works. From the enclosed spaces of Rope and Rear Window to the wide-open expanses of North by Northwest, the physical worlds inhabited by desperate characters are a crucial element in our perception of the Hitchcockian universe. As Christine Madrid French reveals in this original and indispensable book, Hitchcock’s relation to the built world was informed by an intense engagement with location and architectural form—in an era marked by modernism’s advance—fueled by some of the most creative midcentury designers in film. Hitchcock saw elements of the built world not just as scenic devices but as interactive areas to frame narrative exchanges. In his films, building forms also serve a sentient purpose—to capture and convey feelings, sensations, and moments that generate an emotive response from the viewer. Visualizing the contemporary built landscape allowed the director to illuminate Americans’ everyday experiences as well as their own uncertain relationship with their environment and with each other. French shares several untold stories, such as the real-life suicide outside the Hotel Empire in Vertigo (which foreshadowed uncannily that film’s tragic finale), and takes us to the actual buildings that served as the inspiration for Psycho’s infamous Bates Motel. Her analysis of North by Northwest uncovers the Frank Lloyd Wright underpinnings for Robert Boyle’s design of the modernist house from the film’s celebrated Mount Rushmore sequence and ingeniously establishes the Vandamm House as the prototype of the cinematic trope of the villain’s lair. She also shows how the widespread unemployment of the 1930s resulted in a surge of gifted architects transplanting their careers into the film industry. These practitioners created sets that drew from contemporary design schools of thought and referenced real structures, both modern and historic. The Architecture of Suspense is the first book to document how these great architectural minds found expression in Hitchcock’s films and how the director used their talents and his own unique vision to create an enduring and evocative cinematic world. Book Television and Serial Adaptation

Download or read book Television and Serial Adaptation written by Shannon Wells-Lassagne and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-01-20 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As American television continues to garner considerable esteem, rivalling the seventh art in its "cinematic" aesthetics and the complexity of its narratives, one aspect of its development has been relatively unexamined. While film has long acknowledged its tendency to adapt, an ability that contributed to its status as narrative art (capable of translating canonical texts onto the screen), television adaptations have seemingly been relegated to the miniseries or classic serial. From remakes and reboots to transmedia storytelling, loose adaptations or adaptations which last but a single episode, the recycling of pre-existing narrative is a practice that is just as common in television as in film, and this text seeks to rectify that oversight, examining series from M*A*S*H to Game of Thrones, Pride and Prejudice to Castle.
