Much like the myriad revolutionary ideologies and struggles in the name of the Vietnamese nation, this revolution in Vietnamese Catholic life was ultimately ambiguous, even contradictory: it established the foundations for an independent national Church, but it also polarized the place of the new Church in post-colonial Vietnamese politics and society and produced deep divisions between Vietnamese Catholics themselves.

Trong gần một ngàn năm, từ thế kỉ thứ 6 đến thế kỉ thứ 15, Kinh Thánh đã bị đóng kín. Lịch sử gọi thời kì này là Thời đại tối tăm. Xã hội loài người trở nên tối tăm vì Kinh Thánh, cuốn sách chứa đựng toàn bộ ánh sáng thần thượng, đã bị đóng kín đối với nhân loại. Sau đó, vào thời Cải Chánh, Đức Chúa Trời đã dùng Martin Luther để mở Kinh Thánh ra. Đồng thời, máy in được phát minh, đã cho phép Kinh Thánh được ấn loát. Mặc dầu Kinh Thánh đã được mở ra, nhưng chưa mở nhiều. Dù vậy, chúng ta cám ơn Chúa vì trong 5 thế kỉ qua, Ngài đã dùng nhiều giáo sư lớn để mở Lời Ngài ra càng hơn. Chúng ta đứng trên vai họ và biết ơn họ. Tuy nhiên, cám ơn Chúa biết bao vì ngày nay Kinh Thánh được mở ra rất nhiều, cho phép chúng ta có bộ Nghiên cứu sự sống thật phong phú về Lời sống này. HƠI THỞ CỦA ĐỨC CHÚA TRỜI Kinh Thánh là gì? Chúng ta biết rằng chữ “Kinh Thánh” có nghĩa là “Quyển Sách”. Nhưng đây là quyển sách gì? Chính Kinh Thánh nói rằng: “Cả Kinh văn đều được Đức Chúa Trời hà hơi vào” (2 Ti. 3:16). Kinh Thánh là hơi thở của Đức Chúa Trời. Đó không chỉ là lời hoặc tư tưởng của Đức Chúa Trời mà là chính hơi thở của Đức Chúa Trời. Hễ điều gì chúng ta thở ra là hơi thở của chúng ta, và hơi thở này ra từ bản thể chúng ta. Cũng vậy, là hơi thở của Đức Chúa Trời, Kinh Thánh là điều gì đó được thở ra từ bản thể của Đức Chúa Trời. Kinh Thánh chứa đựng chính yếu tố của Đức Chúa Trời. Bất cứ điều gì Đức Chúa Trời là, đều được chứa đựng trong quyển sách thần thượng này. Đức Chúa Trời là sự sáng, sự sống, tình yêu, quyền năng, sự khôn ngoan và nhiều điều khác. Tất cả những gì Đức Chúa Trời là đều đã được thở vào trong Kinh Thánh. Hễ khi nào đến với quyển sách này với lòng và linh mở ra, lập tức chúng ta có thể chạm được điều gì đó thần thượng: không chỉ là những ý tưởng, quan niệm, kiến thức, từ ngữ hay câu cú mà là điều gì đó sâu xa hơn mọi điều này. Chúng ta chạm đến chính Đức Chúa Trời. LINH VÀ SỰ SỐNG Chúa Jesus phán rằng những lời Ngài phán đều là linh và sự sống (Gi. 6:63). Chúng ta có thể nào tưởng tượng Kinh Thánh là Lời của Đức Chúa Trời cũng chính là Linh không? Không chỉ là những lời trên giấy trắng mực đen mà còn là điều gì đó cao hơn, sâu hơn, đầy đủ hơn và phong phú hơn – đó là Linh và sự sống. Kinh Thánh cho chúng ta biết rằng Linh là chính Đức Chúa Trời (Gi. 4:24) và sự sống là Đấng Christ (Gi. 14:6). Tôi không nói rằng Kinh Thánh là chính Đức Chúa Trời, nhưng theo Chúa Jesus, lời trong Kinh Thánh là Linh và Linh là chính Đức Chúa Trời, là Chúa, Đấng là sự sống cho chúng ta. Khi tiếp xúc Lời, nếu đúng đắn về vị trí, mở lòng và linh ra, chắc chắn chúng ta sẽ tiếp xúc với chính Đức Chúa Trời và nhận được sự sống. Khi đến với Lời thần thượng, hầu như toàn bản thể chúng ta đều được vận dụng. Chúng ta phải đến với một lòng tìm kiếm Đức Chúa Trời, với một tâm trí tỉnh táo, trong sáng, và với một linh mở ra. Nếu mở linh ra với Đức Chúa Trời và Lời Ngài, chúng ta có thể chạm được chính Đức Chúa Trời phía sau những trang Kinh Thánh. Đó không chỉ là vấn đề đọc bằng mắt, hiểu bằng tâm trí hay hết lòng tìm kiếm mà còn là vấn đề chạm đến Đức Chúa Trời trong linh. Nếu vận dụng toàn bản thể như vậy, chúng ta không chỉ nhận được khải thị mà một yếu tố thần thượng nào đó, được Lời Ngài khải thị và chuyển tải, sẽ được truyền vào linh chúng ta. Vì thế, Ê-phê-sô 6:17-18 nói rằng chúng ta phải “nhận …lời Đức Chúa Trời bằng mọi sự cầu nguyện và cầu xin…”. Chúng ta nên tiếp nhận lời Kinh Thánh không chỉ bằng cách đọc và nghiên cứu mà cũng “bằng mọi sự cầu nguyện”. Chúng ta nên đọc và nghiên cứu Kinh Thánh theo cách cầu nguyện; nghĩa là phải vận dụng linh để tiếp xúc Chúa bằng sự cầu nguyện cùng với đọc lời thần thượng. KHẢI THỊ CHÍNH YẾU TRONG KINH THÁNH Kinh Thánh chủ yếu khải thị về sự sống. Sự sống là trọng tâm của cả Kinh Thánh. Nhưng sự sống là gì hoặc sự sống là ai? Câu trả lời nằm trong Lời của Chúa Jesus. Ngài phán: “Ta là sự sống,” và “Ta đã đến để chiên có sự sống”. Kinh Thánh là sự khải thị về Đấng Christ là sự sống. Hễ khi nào đến với Kinh Thánh, phải nhận thức rằng chúng ta đang đến để tiếp xúc Đấng Christ là sự sống của chúng ta. Cả Kinh Thánh là cuốn sách sự sống, sự sống này không gì khác hơn là Thân vị thần thượng và sống động của chính Christ Jesus, Đấng là phần hưởng của chúng ta. Khi đến với Kinh Thánh, chúng ta phải đến tiếp xúc Ngài. Chúng ta không nên lặp lại lịch sử đáng thương của dân Do Thái, họ chỉ là những người nghiên cứu Kinh văn vì nghĩ rằng trong đó có sự sống, nhưng lại không đến với Chúa Jesus (Gi. 5:39-40). Chúng ta không nên tiếp xúc Kinh Thánh mà không tiếp xúc Chúa. Hễ khi nào mở Kinh Thánh ra, chúng ta cần nói: “Chúa Jesus ơi, Ngài phải ở đây. Đây không chỉ là một quyển sách mà là sự khải thị của Ngài. Con không thích đọc sách này mà không tiếp xúc Ngài. Con không thích nghe điều gì đó từ sách này mà không nghe Ngài. Con không thích đọc sách này mà không thấy Ngài. Con muốn thấy mặt Ngài. Con muốn thấy những gì Ngài là từ những trang sách này. Ô Chúa Jesus, xin soi sáng Lời Ngài và xức dầu từng dòng chữ để con có thể chạm được Ngài”. Chúng ta cần một linh như vậy để tiếp xúc lời sống này. Sau khi được tạo nên, con người được đặt trước hai cây trong vườn Ê-đen: một là cây sự sống và kia là cây tri thức. Nếu ăn cây sự sống, con người hẳn đã nhận được sự sống thần thượng của Đức Chúa Trời, tượng trưng bởi cây sự sống. Nhưng con người đã bị cám dỗ và ăn cây tri thức, chỉ về một nguồn khác Đức Chúa Trời, là Sa-tan. Hậu quả của điều này là sự chết. Nguyên tắc tương tự khi tiếp xúc Kinh Thánh. Chúng ta có thể nhận Kinh Thánh như sách sự sống bằng cách dùng linh tiếp xúc, bằng cách cầu nguyện với Chúa để có thể nhận được Ngài là sự sống qua Lời Ngài, nếu không chúng ta có thể làm cho Kinh Thánh trở thành một sách về kiến thức bằng cách chỉ dùng tâm trí tiếp xúc, tìm kiếm kiến thức trong văn tự. Điều này dẫn chúng ta đến sự chết, không phải sự sống. 2 Cô-rin-tô 3:6 cảnh báo rằng “văn tự [tức là Kinh văn bằng từ ngữ] làm cho chết, nhưng Linh ban sự sống”. Đừng làm cho Kinh Thánh trở thành quyển sách văn tự làm chúng ta chết. Chúng ta phải nhận Kinh Thánh bằng cách tiếp xúc Chúa Linh để Kinh Thánh có thể là Linh và sự sống cho chúng ta. NHỮNG CHỨC NĂNG KHÁC CỦA KINH THÁNH Ngoài ra còn một số câu nói rằng Kinh Thánh có những chức năng khác nữa. Kinh Thánh có sự khôn ngoan có thể giúp chúng ta được cứu (2 Ti. 3:15). Kinh Thánh có chức năng sinh sản của một hạt giống. Qua Lời Kinh Thánh, chúng ta có thể được sinh lại, được tái sinh (1 Phi. 1:23). Sau khi chúng ta được sinh mới thì Lời Kinh Thánh là sữa và thức ăn để chúng ta được nuôi dưỡng hầu lớn lên trong Chúa (1 Phi. 2:2; Mat. 4:4). Vì thế, chúng ta phải ăn Lời (Giê. 15:16), tức là nhận Lời vào bên trong bằng cách vận dụng linh trên Lời. Cũng vậy, Kinh Thánh có thể cho chúng ta sự dạy dỗ tốt nhất và làm hoàn hảo người của Đức Chúa Trời (La. 15:4; 2 Ti. 3:16-17). Nếu thuộc về Chúa và khao khát được hoàn hảo, chắc chắn chúng ta có thể nhận được sự hoàn hảo qua Lời thần thượng của Ngài. CỰU ƯỚC Kinh Thánh bao gồm hai Ước: Cũ và Mới. Cựu Ước chủ yếu báo trước về Đấng Christ, báo trước Đấng Christ sắp đến bằng những lời rõ ràng, những hình, bóng và nhiều nhân vật. Trong Lu-ca chương 24, Chúa Jesus hai lần bảo rằng Cựu Ước đã chép về Ngài (c. 27, 44). Cựu Ước có thể được chia thành ba phần chính: Môi-se (có nghĩa là Kinh luật), các Tiên tri, và Thi thiên. Chúa phán rằng trong mỗi phần của Cựu Ước đều có điều gì đó chép về Ngài. Trong Giăng 5:39, Chúa cũng phán rằng Cựu Ước là chứng cớ về Ngài. Và trong Hê-bơ-rơ 10:7, Ngài phán: “Trong cuốn sách ấy (tức Cựu Ước) có chép về Tôi”. Do đó, Cựu Ước chủ yếu là một kí thuật, nói tiên tri về Đấng Christ là mọi sự cho dân Đức Chúa Trời. SÁNG THẾ KÍ Bây giờ chúng ta có thể bắt đầu nghiên cứu sự sống Sáng Thế Kí. Tựa đề nguyên thủy của sách này là “Ban Đầu”. Bản Bảy Mươi, bản dịch Cựu Ước theo tiếng Hi lạp, đã lấy tựa Sáng Thế Kí; là một từ La-tinh, có nghĩa là sự sinh ra, nguồn gốc. Sáng Thế Kí nói đến sự sinh ra của mọi sự, nguồn gốc của mọi sự. Sáng Thế Kí là sách chứa đựng tất cả các những hạt giống của lẽ thật thần thượng. Tất cả những lẽ thật thần thượng trong cả Kinh Thánh đều được gieo trong sách này.
