This book was released on 2013-08 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to Become A Successful Freight Broker: Easy To Follow Step By Step Training Guide With the rise and success of companies like Amazon, eBay, Alibaba, Wal-Mart and many others, the global freight market has been seeing a growth like never before especially in last few years. More and more companies are buying and selling products across the border. It is the new global economy of the 21st century. Not to mention due the rise of Amazon FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) business, there are little over 300,000 new businesses opened up just in last 3 years to supply products to Amazon. These new businesses only buy products from various Asian countries and ship them to Amazon warehouses in the western world. Amazon then sell these products on the seller's behalf, which is essentially what Amazon FBA business model is. Due to the huge popularity of this new business, suddenly now another 300,000 new customers are looking to hire a Freight broker to handle their shipments and to make sure their products get routed to the proper Amazon warehouses. My name is George A. Stewart, I am 43 years old, I worked 12 years as a store manager for Burger King, a truly dead end job. Just like most jobs in the market today I used to put in plenty of hours that unfortunately, did not translate into money. My turning point was the day I met a certain customer in my restaurant who seemed to be doing very well despite the hard economic times the whole country was going through. After a little chitchat, I found out he was a freight broker and that he was earning a decent living while working a few hours. At that point I did not know anything about freight brokerage or that a profession like that even existed. I therefore decided to do some research about it and the more I learned the more my interest grew and within a matter of weeks I was completely hooked up. Before I knew it, I took time off work to begin my training in freight brokerage. After my training, I decided to quit my job at burger king and took up a job as a freight agent working under an established freight broker. My job included looking for new clients, taking orders and matching shippers with carriers. In one year or so I felt that I had enough experience and contacts to start my own firm. I then applied for the required licenses at FMCSA and started small. Starting my own firm was definitely not easy but I found it much better than working at Burger King. My first client was a contact I had made from working as a freight agent. After a lot of hard work I finally started getting more clients, and in 6 months I could finally relax because my business had finally taken off. I was earning around $120,000 every year, which, I must confess, was really good for starters. Book excerpt: "There is a very greedy industry in this country called Freight Brokers, most people do not know exists, but they effect the stability of our entire economy. This unregulated industry is intentionally ripping off every American consumer and business in this country, causing the price of everything we buy to increase under a blanket of lies then pass blame to the oil industry. This book introduces and exposes an industry within this nation that is partly responsible for this nations hard economic times and empowers the reader with the knowledge to save every family in this country between $100 - $400 every month. This book gives various real-world examples that will floor the reader, yet provide reason why every product and raw material cost so much in the United States, yet proves that if these costs were saved, businesses overhead would significantly decrease which saves millions of jobs, home-owners would have enough to pay mortgages, and the auto industry can be saved."--Cover.

Download or read book The United States Mexico Canada Agreement USMCA written by Leslie Alan Glick and published by Kluwer Law International B.V.. This book was released on 2020-10-19 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: On July 1, 2020, after much expectation and delay, the new United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA)—a greatly revised version of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) of 1994—came into effect. This timely book by the author of the preeminent guide to NAFTA and an active participant and private sector advocate in the USMCA negotiation and legislative process provides a chapter-by-chapter analysis of the new agreement, clearly describing what has changed from the earlier agreement and what is new. After a concise but expertly calibrated summary of NAFTA, the author proceeds systematically through a practical analysis of each USMCA provision, emphasizing such crucial new elements as the following: new rules on intellectual property rights; stricter rules of origin within the automotive industry; major reforms in Mexican labor laws and their enforceability; opening of Canada’s agricultural and dairy sector to more U.S. competition; entirely new chapter on digital trade; new dispute mechanisms; requirement of an increased minimum wage in auto plants; and a new chapter on environmental standards. Changes in such important aspects of trade as textiles and apparel, ownership of hydrocarbons, cross-border trade in services, and anticorruption measures are also fully described. The USMCA is a response to a United States initiative to renegotiate NAFTA. As a key regional trade agreement with vast global ramifications, familiarity with its content and rules is essential for all business, legal, policymaking, and academic parties concerned with international trade. This useful practical guide will be a welcome addition to private and corporate libraries, including corporate counsel, customs brokers, freight forwarders, logistics and import-export managers, government officials, and academics who need a thorough understanding of the new agreement.

Download or read book Sweatshops on Wheels written by Michael H. Belzer and published by Oxford University Press, USA. This book was released on 2000 with total page 280 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Long hours, low wages, and unsafe workplaces characterized sweatshops a hundred years ago. These same conditions plague American trucking today. Sweatshops on Wheels: Winners and Losers in Trucking Deregulation exposes the dark side of government deregulation in America's interstate trucking industry. In the years since deregulation in 1980, median earnings have dropped 30% and most long-haul truckers earn less than half of pre-regulation wages. Work weeks average more than sixty hours. Today, America's long-haul truckers are working harder and earning less than at any time during the last four decades. Written by a former long-haul trucker who now teaches industrial relations at Wayne State University, Sweatshops on Wheels raises crucial questions about the legacy of trucking deregulation in America and casts provocative new light on the issue of government deregulation in general.

Download or read book Freight Forwarder Business Startup written by Allen McCarthy and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2017-02-02 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Freight Forwarder Business Startup How to Start, Run & Grow a Successful Freight Forwarding Business The global freight forwarding market has been seeing a steady growth of around 5% for last four years in a row now. This trend is expected to continue and grow bigger. With all the new trade deals like TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership), TAP (Trans-Atlantic Partnership) and many other similar trade deals between countries are bringing the whole world into one marketplace. According to Transportation Intelligence, a leading logistics research firm, in 2013 the freight forwarding industry was at 129 Billion, but as of today, it has grown by another 16-20 billion more. This is an industry that in my opinion still in its infancy, with TPP, TAP and many other global trade agreements, the need for such services will grow higher every year. Another rapid growth I see in this business is from all the Amazon FBA(Fulfilled By Amazon) business owners, most of who buy their merchandise from China. Now Amazon never accepts merchandise directly from a foreign country, so each and every piece of merchandise has to come through a freight forwarder/broker. This way the merchandise can get relabeled and shipped to various Amazon warehouses. In This Book You Will Learn: What is a Freight Forwarder What Is Freight Forwarding Business Types of Freight Forwarders Steps To Becoming A Freight Forwarder How to get started How and Where to Get Trained What Courses You Should Take How To Setup Your Business Legal Factors Freight Forwarder Licenses Steps to FMCSA Registration Insurance Requirements Running a Freight Forwarding Business Trading Condition and Limiting Liability How To Promote & Grow Your Business The Elements of Price Quote Links to all forms and applications But one word of caution, please don't think reading this book will be enough to get started as a freight forwarder, it takes some training either on the job (like I did) or formal school or online training to get started in this business. In this book, I shared some of the resources that are available for you to get started. If you are thinking about getting into this business, trust me when I say this, there is not a better time than now to get started. Do your research, get educated, get started. Good luck!
