Book New Treatment of the Chiral SU 3 Quark Mean Field Model

Download or read book New Treatment of the Chiral SU 3 Quark Mean Field Model written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We perform a study of infinite hadronic matter, finite nuclei and hypernuclei with an improved method of calculating the effective baryon mass. A detailed study of the predictions of the model is made in comparison with the available data and the level of agreement is generally very good. Comparison with an earlier treatment shows relatively minor differences at or below normal nuclear matter density, while at high density the improved calculation is quite different. In particular, we find no phase transition corresponding to chiral symmetry restoration in high density nuclear matter.

Book Quarks Baryons And Chiral Symmetry

Download or read book Quarks Baryons And Chiral Symmetry written by Atsushi Hosaka and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2001-07-02 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes baryon models constructed from quarks, mesons and chiral symmetry. The role of chiral symmetry and of quark model structure with SU(6) spin-flavor symmetry are discussed in detail, starting from a pedagogic introduction. Emphasis is placed on symmetry aspects of the theories. As an application, the chiral bag model is studied for nucleon structure, where important methods of theoretical physics, mostly related to the semiclassical approach for a system of strong interactions, are demonstrated. The text is more practical than formal; tools and ideas are explained in detail while solving actual problems. By checking each step of the computations, readers can learn not only the calculational techniques but also the essential ideas behind them.

Download or read book Chiral Quark Dynamics written by Reinhard Alkofer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1995-08-18 with total page 126 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These notes give an introduction to the description of hadrons, i.e., mesons and baryons, within a quark model based on a chirally invariant quantum field theory. Emphasis is put on a didactic approach intended for graduate students with some background on functional integral techniques. Starting from QCD a motivation of a specific form of the effective quark interaction is given. Functional integral bosonization leads to a theory describing successfully meson properties. It possesses solitonic solutions which are identified as baryons. Via functional integral techniques a Faddeev equation for baryons describing them as bound states of a diquark and a quark is derived. Finally, a unification of these two complementary pictures of baryons is proposed.

Book Quarks Bound by Chiral Fields

Download or read book Quarks Bound by Chiral Fields written by Georges Ripka and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 1997 with total page 226 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The structure of light hadrons is dominated by the spontaneously broken chiral symmetry of the strongly interacting (QCD) vacuum. Low energy properties of light hadrons can be described in terms of quarks interacting with chiral fields. This book gives a comprehensive account of a large class of models which describe the restoration of chiral symmetry at high temperature and density, the effective interactions between quarks, mesons as solutions of the Beth-Salpeter equation, and baryons in terms of solitions which rotate in flavor space. An in-depth analysis of regularization is given, including regularization by delocalized fields. Symmetry conserving approximations are formulated using both path integral and Feynmann graph methods. The book's style is pedagogical and well-suited to graduate and Ph.D. students who want to learn the techniques used in present day research. It can also serve as a reference for research and lecture courses.

Book The Quark Confinement Model of Hadrons

Download or read book The Quark Confinement Model of Hadrons written by G.V Efimov and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1993-01-01 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Filling the gap in the literature on low-energy quark models, The Quark Confinement Model of Hadrons investigates confinement effects in the low-energy regions of particle physics using the methods of nonlocal quantum field theory. It also elucidates their role in describing microscopic quantities that characterize hadron-hadron interactions. The authors present a quark confinement model to describe the low-energy physics of light hadrons. Hadrons are treated as collective colorless excitations of quark-gluon interactions while the quark confinement is to be provided by averaging over gluon backgrounds. The model is shown to reproduce the low-energy relations of chiral theory in the case of null momenta and, in addition, allow the researcher to obtain more sophisticated hadron characteristics, such as slope parameters and form factors. Presenting a unified view on a number of low-energy phenomena, The Quark Confinement Model of Hadrons enables an understanding of problems related to the treatment of large distances within quantum chromodynamics.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) views hadrons as bound states of quarks and gluons. However, hadron structure studies involve non-perturbative aspects of QCD- confinement and chiral symmetry breaking which makes it a challenging task to understand. Considerable progress has been achieved through Non- Relativistic Quark Model which is based on very simple assumptions and gives a remarkable fit to many of the hadron spectroscopy data. However, starting with the observations in 1988 by the European Muon Collaboration, in the last decade or so extremely important information pertaining to spin and flavor structure of the proton have been discovered in the deep inelastic scattering experiments. The present experimental information is in contradiction with the predictions of Non- Relativistic Quark Model which referred to as "proton spin problem". The chiral constituent quark model probes the regime between the confinement scale and the chiral symmetry breaking scale. Several current experimental initiatives in this direction indicate the importance of the problem for high energy physics community.

Book Phase Transition from Hadronic Matter to Quark Matter

Download or read book Phase Transition from Hadronic Matter to Quark Matter written by and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 45202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We study the phase transition from nuclear matter to quark matter within the SU(3) quark mean field model and NJL model. The SU(3) quark mean field model is used to give the equation of state for nuclear matter, while the equation of state for color superconducting quark matter is calculated within the NJL model. It is found that at low temperature, the phase transition from nuclear to color superconducting quark matter will take place when the density is of order 2.5?0 - 5?0. At zero density, the quark phase will appear when the temperature is larger than about 148 MeV. The phase transition from nuclear matter to quark matter is always first order, whereas the transition between color superconducting quark matter and normal quark matter is second order.

Book The Physics of Quarks

Download or read book The Physics of Quarks written by Nicola J. Watson and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A quark is a type of elementary particle found in protons and neutrons and other subatomic particles. They are a major constituent of matter, along with leptons. In nature, quarks are never found on their own, as isolated, single particles; rather, they are bound together in composite particles named hadrons. For this reason, much of what is known about quarks has been inferred from observations on the hadrons themselves. This book provides leading edge research on this field from around the globe.

Book Quark Structure of Chiral Solitons

Download or read book Quark Structure of Chiral Solitons written by Dmitri Diakonov and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a prejudice that the chiral soliton model of baryons is something orthogonal to the good old constituent quark models. In fact, it is the opposite: the spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking in strong interactions explains the appearance of massive constituent quarks of small size thus justifying the constituent quark models, in the first place. Chiral symmetry ensures that constituent quarks interact very strongly with the pseudoscalar fields. The ''chiral soliton'' is another word for the chiral field binding constituent quarks. We show how the old SU(6) quark wave functions follow from the ''soliton'', however, with computable relativistic corrections and additional quark-antiquark pairs. We also find the 5-quark wave function of the exotic baryon Theta+.
