Book New Commercial Law Classic Reprint

Download or read book New Commercial Law Classic Reprint written by A. Norton Fitch and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-13 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from New Commercial Law Common Law is a term applied to that part of the law of England which was common to the whole country. It was at first merely a body of customs. But came, in time, to have the force of law, and was called the common law to distinguish it from those laws which applied only to a portion of the country. The common law is sometimes called the unwritten law, because, being originally merely a body of customs, it was for a long time not written. As soon as judges began to render their decisions in writing, the common law, being embodied in these decisions, became written, and is now to be found in thousands of vol umes of reports containing the decisions of the courts of this country and England. Book The Secret of Progress Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Secret of Progress Classic Reprint written by W. Cunningham and published by CUP Archive. This book was released on 2016-10-16 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Secret of Progress Buckle1 regarded it as clear that militarism and high intellectual development were not compatible: till recently, many people were prepared to believe that warfare was alien to the interest of civilised peoples and could only occur among half civilised or backward races. But this war has shown that these hopes were vain, and that the last result of civilisation was not to render war impossible, but to give the means of carrying it out on a vastly extended scale. The increase of knowledge and of power over nature, and the sense of the benefits of intercourse and inter-communication have not sufficed to give us any immunity from war. Book Commercial Law Classic Reprint

Download or read book Commercial Law Classic Reprint written by D. Curtis Gano and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-16 with total page 402 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Commercial Law The author of this work has aimed to select from the exten sive field of the law those fundamental principles, a knowledge of which the business man will most frequently find of value to him, and which the teacher of Commercial Law will regard most useful to his classes. It is not the purpose of this volume to make lawyers of its readers, but to teach them to discern the ways that lead from litigation, and to enable them to conduct their business dealings with an intelligent idea of their legal rights and limitations. Technical terms have been avoided as far as possible, and when it has been thought advisable to use them they have been fully defined either in the text or in the glossary. The latter contains a most complete list of the legal terms ordinarily em ployed, with concise yet sufficient definition. The subjects discussed have been arranged in the order in which it is deemed advisable for the teacher to present them. It is believed that all of the subjects with which the business man should become familiar have been included in the present volume, and are explained with sufficient detail to give the reader a correct knowledge of the law concerning them. In many instances different conclusions that have been arrived at by the courts in the several states have been pointed out in detail, that the student may understand the conflicts in the laws of the different jurisdictions. • Author : Ralph Gillis

Download or read book Navigational Servitudes written by Ralph Gillis and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2007-08-31 with total page 428 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work presents a new perspective on the role of States as reciprocal trustees for the Oceans Public Trust. The concept of the oceans and navigable waters as held in public trust is examined from its origins in the 17th century North Sea fisheries controversy with particular regard to the arguments by Selden and Grotius pertaining to State jurisdiction over oceans and marginal sea areas. Those arguments manifest an underlying common principle of navigational freedom reflected in the parallel public trust development of public rights to fishing and navigation as protected and preserved within the Royal Prerogative jus publicum. The significance for the modern context is that the 1958 Geneva Conventions on the Law of the Sea, the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea and a myriad of other conventions now evidence an unstated but patent public trust in the communal responsibility of States within both the conventional and customary regime of the high seas, as well as in regimes for territorial seas and marginal sea areas as shared with extended coastal State jurisdictions. This book is intended to serve as a reference work for this somewhat arcane source of the Oceans Public Trust, and should prove a useful research source for those who study law of the sea.
