Book PATAGONIA Torres Del Paine National Park

Download or read book PATAGONIA Torres Del Paine National Park written by Oleg Senkov and published by . This book was released on 2019-08-17 with total page 82 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a budget version of the travel guide with reduced printing costs; it is black and white (b/w) inside. The book is an unique and the most complete "smart" travel guide, which I made, at first, to be solely used in my own, after buying so many travel guides and still feeling - they aren't good enough for my adventures to explore wilderness as a biologist and wildlife/travel photographer. I was missing it during my trip to Patagonia in 2017, otherwise, I would be much more efficient as a wildlife photographer and traveler. This is my second book in the "wilderness explorer" series (first one I wrote about Peninsula Valdes, see it at 13 Amazon webstores: www.amazon.com/dp/B078RC9QC2), which I hope, will be a good "practical tool", an all-to-know set of guide books for you (for me as well), while you are exploring the world with responsible mind and open heart as a truly nature lover. The book contains 90 GPS coordinates of important to know places, 40 website links, covering all the important campsites, hotels, viewpoints, trails, key sightseeing, it has a detailed trekking map, and 14 photographs I made in March-April 2017. The book first describes how to get in/out the park, all park's updated rules and prices, then how to design your trekking route and how to book all accommodation in the park and nearby. In addition to popular "W" and "O" trekking circuits in the park, I give information about another 6 less-known, secret "off-the-bitten-pass" trails. I also give all the details for wild and paid camping, hotels, hostels, domes, cabins, food stores, roads conditions, travel scenarios, public buses, prices for touristic services, paid tours, wildlife safaris, fishing, kayaking, horseback riding. At the end of the guide, I give detailed information what kind of wild animals and where you can meet in the park (puma, condors, huemul, guanaco, fox) and their behavior. I also describe where you can find fossils from Jurassic Era of ichthyosaur, of a large prehistoric marine dolphin-like predator, or to see ancient cave paintings of indigenous tribes lived here 3000-8000 years ago. The book can be equally useful for "budget" adventure seekers, solo/group travelers, "fast & easy" with a rented car/campers or travel agency users as well as for paid wildlife and travel photographers on a mission.Printed versions of the book just went far beyond of my anticipations; quality is highest standard possible, they are rather small (15x23 cm), light-weight (only 150 g each), fully colorful inside with maps and GPS coordinates, pages are robustly made and glued, the cover is made of water-repellent paper, books are flexible, you can bend them, nothing will happen... though, they are ideal to put them into your backpack and use them while you travel through wonderful Patagonia... Enjoy and take care!

Book Subpar Parks

  • Release : 2021-07-13
  • ISBN : 0593185552
  • Pages : 225 pages

Download or read book Subpar Parks written by Amber Share and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2021-07-13 with total page 225 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: **A New York Times Bestseller!** Based on the wildly popular Instagram account, Subpar Parks features both the greatest hits and brand-new content, all celebrating the incredible beauty and variety of America’s national parks juxtaposed with the clueless and hilarious one-star reviews posted by visitors. Subpar Parks, both on the popular Instagram page and in this humorous, informative, and collectible book, combines two things that seem like they might not work together yet somehow harmonize perfectly: beautiful illustrations and informative, amusing text celebrating each national park paired with the one-star reviews disappointed tourists have left online. Millions of visitors each year enjoy Glacier National Park, but for one visitor, it was simply "Too cold for me!" Another saw the mind-boggling vistas of Bryce Canyon as "Too spiky!" Never mind the person who visited the thermal pools at Yellowstone National Park and left thinking, “Save yourself some money, boil some water at home.” Featuring more than 50 percent new material, the book will include more depth and insight into the most popular parks, such as Yosemite, Yellowstone, the Grand Canyon, and Acadia National Parks; anecdotes and tips from rangers; and much more about author Amber Share's personal love and connection to the outdoors. Equal parts humor and love for the national parks and the great outdoors, it's the perfect gift for anyone who loves to spend time outside as well as have a good read (and laugh) once they come indoors.

Book The Invention of Nature

Download or read book The Invention of Nature written by Andrea Wulf and published by Vintage. This book was released on 2016-10-04 with total page 586 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NATIONAL BESTSELLER • The acclaimed author of Founding Gardeners reveals the forgotten life of Alexander von Humboldt, the visionary German naturalist whose ideas changed the way we see the natural world—and in the process created modern environmentalism. "Vivid and exciting.... Wulf’s pulsating account brings this dazzling figure back into a dazzling, much-deserved focus.” —The Boston Globe Alexander von Humboldt (1769-1859) was the most famous scientist of his age, a visionary German naturalist and polymath whose discoveries forever changed the way we understand the natural world. Among his most revolutionary ideas was a radical conception of nature as a complex and interconnected global force that does not exist for the use of humankind alone. In North America, Humboldt’s name still graces towns, counties, parks, bays, lakes, mountains, and a river. And yet the man has been all but forgotten. In this illuminating biography, Andrea Wulf brings Humboldt’s extraordinary life back into focus: his prediction of human-induced climate change; his daring expeditions to the highest peaks of South America and to the anthrax-infected steppes of Siberia; his relationships with iconic figures, including Simón Bolívar and Thomas Jefferson; and the lasting influence of his writings on Darwin, Wordsworth, Goethe, Muir, Thoreau, and many others. Brilliantly researched and stunningly written, The Invention of Nature reveals the myriad ways in which Humboldt’s ideas form the foundation of modern environmentalism—and reminds us why they are as prescient and vital as ever.

Book Wanderland

Download or read book Wanderland written by Jini Reddy and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2020-04-30 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: SHORTLISTED FOR THE 2021 STANFORD DOLMAN TRAVEL BOOK OF THE YEAR AWARD SHORTLISTED FOR THE 2020 WAINWRIGHT PRIZE FOR UK NATURE WRITING Alone on a remote mountaintop one dark night, a woman hears a mysterious voice. Propelled by the memory and after years of dreaming about it, Jini Reddy dares to delve into the 'wanderlands' of Britain, heading off in search of the magical in the landscape. A London journalist with multicultural roots and a perennial outsider, she determinedly sets off on this unorthodox path. Serendipity and her inner compass guide her around the country in pursuit of the Other and a connection to Britain's captivating natural world. Where might this lead? And if you know what it is to be Othered yourself, how might this colour your experiences? And what if, in invoking the spirit of the land, 'it' decides to make its presence felt? Whether following a 'cult' map to a hidden well that refuses to reveal itself, attempting to persuade a labyrinth to spill its secrets, embarking on a coast-to-coast pilgrimage or searching for a mystical land temple, Jini depicts a whimsical, natural Britain. Along the way, she tracks down ephemeral wild art, encounters women who worship The Goddess, falls deeper in love with her birth land and struggles – but mostly fails – to get to grips with its lore. Throughout, she rejoices in the wildness we cannot see and celebrates the natural beauty we can, while offering glimpses of her Canadian childhood and her Indian parents' struggles in apartheid-era South Africa. Wanderland is a book in which the heart leads, all things are possible and the Other, both wild and human, comes in from the cold. It is a paean to the joy of roaming, both figuratively and imaginatively, and to the joy of finding your place in the world.
