Book Management Of Water Resources In Agriculture

Download or read book Management Of Water Resources In Agriculture written by Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma and published by AG PUBLISHING HOUSE (AGPH Books). This book was released on 2023-03-02 with total page 213 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Increased urbanization is the outcome of rapid industrialization, which occurred along with an increase in population. As a result of these factors, the water supply that was formerly reserved for agricultural purposes is now being distributed across a variety of industries. Because of this, there has been a slow but steady decrease in the amount of available land and water per person. At the same time, the need to boost food production in order to accommodate an ever-increasing population is becoming more and more apparent. The inefficient management of the available water has brought an additional layer of complexity to this issue, which has led to the formation of problematic soils and, as a consequence, a decrease in productivity for each unit of water amount used. As a result, it has become an imperative need to utilize the limited water resources in such a way as to receive the most returns per unit amount of water. This was not the case in the past. Topics covered in this book include drip irrigation systems, micro-sprinklers, energy evaluation for drip irrigation, and landscape irrigation. It covers a wide range of subjects related to water, including water shortages, river health management difficulties, water supply systems, lake management, water supply demand assessment, salt water intrusion, and integrated water resources management. Anyone studying or working in hydrology, watershed management, environmental resources, agricultural engineering, earth sciences, or natural resource planning and management will find this book useful.

Book The Dawn of Dutch

Download or read book The Dawn of Dutch written by Michiel de Vaan and published by John Benjamins Publishing Company. This book was released on 2017-12-14 with total page 633 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Low Countries are famous for their radically changing landscape over the last 1,000 years. Like the landscape, the linguistic situation has also undergone major changes. In Holland, an early form of Frisian was spoken until, very roughly, 1100, and in parts of North Holland it disappeared even later. The hunt for traces of Frisian or Ingvaeonic in the dialects of the western Low Countries has been going on for around 150 years, but a synthesis of the available evidence has never appeared. The main aim of this book is to fill that gap. It follows the lead of many recent studies on the nature and effects of language contact situations in the past. The topic is approached from two different angles: Dutch dialectology, in all its geographic and diachronic variation, and comparative Germanic linguistics. In the end, the minute details and the bigger picture merge into one possible account of the early and high medieval processes that determined the make-up of western Dutch.
