Download or read book China s Agricultural Modernization written by On Kit Tam and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-08-01 with total page 256 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Originally published in 1985, this study investigates the actual experience in mechanization during the Fourth Five Year Plan period, a period which represented, in many ways, a new stage in China’s rural development. It examines the historical perspective and the development approach under which mechanization efforts were exerted during this 5-year period and the mechanism, outcomes and problems these entailed. The book addresses the issues involved in agricultural development and mechanization through a more integral analysis of the way technological transformation has been linked to China’s quest for social and economic development.

Book Socialist Construction in China

Download or read book Socialist Construction in China written by Abdol S. Soofi and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2024-06-28 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Chairman of the State Planning Commission of the PRC, in 1955, attributed the economic problems countering the development of the socialist economy to "the anarchy of capitalist economy. " However, after three decades of central planning, the President of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences exclaimed, "Today we are all recognizing the irrationality of an economic structure that has built up over the years." The author of this book examines the economic policies and performances that brought such a radical transformation to the world outlook of China's leaders. The book contains three parts. The first part traces the historical roots of China's chaotic economic condition and hyperinflation in the 1940s and the early 1950s. The second part deals with how the “irrational” economic system was formed. The third part deals with the reasons for the emergence of economic “irrationality”, resource misallocation, the necessity of economic reforms, and industrial restructuring.

It analyses the attempt made by the CCP to develop new policies of administration in the wartime base areas and the subsequent transformation of these policies after the Communists came to power. The problems of establishing control over China are detailed, as are those associated with adopting the Soviet model. The rejection of that model led to the adoption of the strategy that led to the Great Leap Forward, and its attendant problems are also studied here.

Book Chinese Agricultural Technology Aid in Africa

Book excerpt: The book presents findings of anthropological studies conducted by researchers from Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center in a number of African countries, including Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and Mozambique. The aim of these ethnological studies is to understand the Center’s experience in these countries as well as the way it works in terms of institutional arrangement, interaction between Chinese and local staff and technology transfer. A basic contention of the book is that insofar as these Centers showcase China’s achievements in domestic development for purpose of sharing the country’s experiences with host countries, what they do essentially points toward a new and innovative approach to foreign aid.

Book Planning and Statistical Systems in China s Agriculture

Download or read book Planning and Statistical Systems in China s Agriculture written by Francis C. Tuan and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Extract: China's agricultural economy, one of the world's largest, produces more grain and hogs than any other country. But, because of high domestic demand, China is also a major purchaser of grain, oilseeds, and fibers. The United States has become a major supplier of many of these commodities. Planners directly issue orders to control production in government-owned state farms. For collectively owned communes, the Government uses direct means such as procurement quotas and indirect techniques like credit control to manage production. China's recently reestablished statistical system is particularly weak in rural ares because of shortage of trained personnel. Census-type reporting is the main method employed to collect data.

Book Mao Zedong Thought

Download or read book Mao Zedong Thought written by Wang Fanxi and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2020-05-18 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Wang Fanxi, a leader of the Chinese Trotskyists, wrote this book on Mao more than fifty years ago. He did so while in exile in the then Portuguese colony of Macau, across the water from Hong Kong, where he had been sent in 1949 to represent his comrades in China, soon to disappear for decades into Mao’s jails. The book is an analytical study whose strength lies less in describing Mao’s life than in explaining Maoism and setting out a radical view on it as a political movement and a current of thought within the Marxist tradition to which both Wang and Mao belonged. With its clear and provoking thesis, it has, since its writing, stood the test of time far better than the hundreds of descriptive studies that have in the meantime come and gone.
