This book was released on 1981 with total page 71 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Lake Kimberly Dam Location is Southwest Madison Township, Perry County U.S.G.S. Quadrangle - Andersonburg, Pa. The overall evaluation of the facilities indicates that Lake Kimberly Dam is in poor condition. The growth of trees, brush and weeds should be removed, and the upstream slope should be protected from wave action. The crest profile is irregular and should be brought to a uniform elevation higher than the emergency spillway elevation in order to prevent overtopping. The downstream slope should be repaired where the slough has occurred and where the outlet pipe has eroded the embankment. The outlet pipe should be extended beyond the downstream toe of the embankment, and a rock protected plunge pool should be constructed at the end of the outlet pipe.

Book National Dam Inspection Program Mill Creek Dam NDS PA 00548 DER 40 2 Susquehanna River Basin Mill Creek Luzerne County Pennsylvania Phase I Inspection Report

Download or read book National Dam Inspection Program Mill Creek Dam NDS PA 00548 DER 40 2 Susquehanna River Basin Mill Creek Luzerne County Pennsylvania Phase I Inspection Report written by GANNETT FLEMING CORDDRY AND CARPENTER INC HARRISBURG PA. and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on the visual inspection, available records, calculations and past operational performance, Mill Creek Dam is judged to be in good condition. However, the spillway (main and auxiliary) will not pass the Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) without overtopping the dam. Therefore, based on criteria established for these studies by the Department of the Army, Office of the Chief of Engineers (OCE), the spillway capacity is rated as inadequate. The spillway will pass one-half the PMF without overtopping the dam. Therefore, based on the OCE criteria established for these studies, the spillway capacity is not rated as seriously inadequate. The existing spillway can accommodate a flood with a peak inflow of 67 percent of the PMF peak flow. The spillway capacity is controlled by the elevation of a low area on the top of dam near the spillway. If the top of the dam were brought up to the design elevation, the spillway would accommodate a flood with a peak inflow of 118 percent of the PMF peak inflow. The spillway would then be rated as adequate. (Author).

This book was released on 1979 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lyman Run Dam is an earthfill dam 920 feet long and 50 feet high. The top width of the dam is 14 feet. The spillway is located at the left abutment of the dam and consists of a concrete lined chute. The weir consists of a 125 foot long concrete ogee. The inspection and review of data of Lyman Run Dam did not reveal any problems which require emergency action. The dam appears to be in good condition with the exception of the seepage, well maintained and safely operated. Lyman Run Dam is a high hazard-intermediate size dam. The Spillway Design Flood is the PMF(Probable Maximum Flood). The spillway and reservoir are capable of controlling the PMF. Based on criteria established by the Corps of Engineers, the spillway is termed adequate.

Book National Dam Inspection Program Lake Louise Dam NDS ID Number PA 558 DER ID Number 40 134 Susquehanna River Basin Suttons Creek Luzerne County Pennsylvania Phase I Inspection Report

Download or read book National Dam Inspection Program Lake Louise Dam NDS ID Number PA 558 DER ID Number 40 134 Susquehanna River Basin Suttons Creek Luzerne County Pennsylvania Phase I Inspection Report written by R. Jeffrey Kimball and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lake Louise Dam appears to be in poor condition. Lake Louise Dam is a high hazard small size dam. The spillway design flood is in the range of 1/2 PMF to PMF. The spillway design flood was selected to be the PMF (probable maximum flood) based on downstream potential for loss of life and property damage. The spillway is capable of controlling approximately 45% of the PMF. The dam breach analysis indicated that a significant increase in the downstream potential for loss of life and property damage exists should the dam fail. Based on criteria established by the Corps of Engineers, the spillway is termed seriously inadequate. The spillway exit and entrance channels are in poor condition. The heavy vegetation creates the potential for water infiltration and made visual inspection of the embankment difficult. Lake Louise Dam is classified as an unsafe non-emergency dam.
