Book Uneasy Citizenship

Download or read book Uneasy Citizenship written by Daniel Bennett and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2024-05-14 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For Christians, it might seem like a confusing time to approach the political world. Polarization and partisanship threaten to divide communities, including the church. At the same time, American politics and government requires participation from its citizens, and Christians are called to be in the world for the sake of God’s kingdom. How, exactly, are Christians to respond faithfully to an increasingly toxic political environment? In Uneasy Citizenship, political scientist Daniel Bennett proposes a way forward for the politically engaged and weary alike. Identifying both challenges and opportunities stemming from the contemporary political environment, Bennett argues for a distinctly Christian political engagement that confounds society’s notions of what effective politics is. He advises Christians to combat the temptation to idolize political outcomes and focus instead on cultivating faithful political practices at the individual, local, and national levels. Faithful political engagement is not easy, especially during times of crisis and upheaval. Uneasy Citizenship shows how Christians can approach politics confidently and hopefully, taking our earthly citizenship seriously with an eye toward our inevitable citizenship in heaven.

Book Code Generation with Templates

Download or read book Code Generation with Templates written by Jeroen Arnoldus and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-05-22 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Templates are used to generate all kinds of text, including computer code. The last decade, the use of templates gained a lot of popularity due to the increase of dynamic web applications. Templates are a tool for programmers, and implementations of template engines are most times based on practical experience rather than based on a theoretical background. This book reveals the mathematical background of templates and shows interesting findings for improving the practical use of templates. First, a framework to determine the necessary computational power for the template metalanguage is presented. The template metalanguage does not need to be Turing-complete to be useful. A non-Turing-complete metalanguage enforces separation of concerns between the view and model. Second, syntactical correctness of all languages of the templates and generated code is ensured. This includes the syntactical correctness of the template metalanguage and the output language. Third, case studies show that the achieved goals are applicable in practice. It is even shown that syntactical correctness helps to prevent cross-site scripting attacks in web applications. The target audience of this book is twofold. The first group exists of researcher interested in the mathematical background of templates. The second group exists of users of templates. This includes designers of template engines on one side and programmers and web designers using templates on the other side

There is not a single day that we are at peace. Our ego gets wounded very easily. We don’t know in life in which direction we should go. Our life is full of tension and worry. To get out of this tension and worry we watch television, chat with our friends over the mobile, spend time on internet surfing, visit some mall, movie theatre and dine, go on holidays within country or abroad, smoke and drink with friends or alone, engage in sexual activities, attend some party, pray or visit holy places with false self, read some book, keep working for more and more money. Again after some time the tension and worry in some other form surfaces. We repeat the same chorus of act again to get out of this. We get old but the tension and worry are still there. What is the way out of this? People fight with each other on trivial issues in home, office or outside. Every day there is violence in some part of the world. There is terror attack or there is some crime happening. Newspapers are full of these kinds of news. Violence has become an incurable disease. Aim of writing this book is to understand the role of peace in our daily living and thereby making world violence free. This book is full of life discussions which lead you to understand your false self and once the false self is understood, true self automatically flows in. Book The Virtue of Nationalism

Download or read book The Virtue of Nationalism written by Yoram Hazony and published by Hachette UK. This book was released on 2018-09-04 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A leading conservative thinker argues that a nationalist order is the only realistic safeguard of liberty in the world today Nationalism is the issue of our age. From Donald Trump's "America First" politics to Brexit to the rise of the right in Europe, events have forced a crucial debate: Should we fight for international government? Or should the world's nations keep their independence and self-determination? In The Virtue of Nationalism, Yoram Hazony contends that a world of sovereign nations is the only option for those who care about personal and collective freedom. He recounts how, beginning in the sixteenth century, English, Dutch, and American Protestants revived the Old Testament's love of national independence, and shows how their vision eventually brought freedom to peoples from Poland to India, Israel to Ethiopia. It is this tradition we must restore, he argues, if we want to limit conflict and hate -- and allow human difference and innovation to flourish.

Book Progressive Conservatism

Download or read book Progressive Conservatism written by F.H. Buckley and published by Encounter Books. This book was released on 2022-07-12 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Republican Party must return to its roots as a progressive conservative party that defends the American Dream, the idea that whoever you are, you can get ahead and know that your children will have it better than you did. It must show how the Democrats have become the party of inequality and immobility and that they created what structural racism exists through their unjust education, immigration, and job-killing policies. Republicans must seek to drain the swamp by limiting the clout of lobbyists and interest groups. They must also be nationalists, and as American nationalism is defined by the liberal nationalism of our founders, the party must reject the illiberalism of extremists on the Left and Right. As progressives, Republicans must also recognize nationalism’s leftward gravitational force and the way in which it demands that the party serve the common good through policies that protect the less fortunate among our countrymen. At a time when the Left asks us to scorn our country, Republicans must also be the conservative party that defends our families, the nobility of American ideals, and the founders’ republican virtues. By championing these policies, the Republicans will retain the new voters Trump brought to the GOP as well as those who left the party because of him. And as progressive conservatives, the GOP will become America’s natural governing party.
