Download or read book Nanny Knows Best Cookbook written by marian james and published by . This book was released on 2017-04-12 with total page 217 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This cookbook isn't about 'fine dining'. These recipes aren't about piling food on top of itself then decorating the plate with swirls to make it look pretty - although that topic is addressed later in the book in the 'entertaining section'. I'm not totally devoid of a little finesse you know! These recipes are for the everyday inexpensive meal which will appeal to vegetarians and meat eaters alike who appreciate good, tasty home-cooked food. Something for everyone with my own Devonshire take on my own created recipes. Even what comes first on a scone - the jam or the cream? Well you'll just have to buy the book to find out!The first sections are there to help the novice cook who is perhaps faced with empty cupboards and not a clue where to start. There is advice on equipment. My tips for making cooking as easy as possible, some of which more competent cooks might find of interest.I'm old school! I don't faff around with fillets of beef and I don't know many who just happen to have one to hand in the fridge or freezer.I'm not a chef I'm a cook with many years experience and I love food. I love eating it, looking at it, and the kitchen is where I feel most comfortable. But I do admire chefs. They have such special skills, but I bet their roast dinners aren't a patch on mine. And how many of us have eaten in a restaurant, ordered something with a fancy name, been very disappointed and thought "well I could do better myself".So this book is for everyone. Step by step recipes for easy reading. There is a section for vegetarians, vegans, even gluten and dairy free will be able to find a little something for themselves. Of course due to my age I just had to include an 'offal section' but it's at the back of the book so you don't have to see it at all if you don't want to!I don't mess around! It's called 'nanny knows best' for a reason. The reader is instructed, told off even - but it's all for your own good in the end. Trust me nanny really does know best!

Book The Hot Bread Kitchen Cookbook

Download or read book The Hot Bread Kitchen Cookbook written by Jessamyn Waldman Rodriguez and published by Clarkson Potter. This book was released on 2015-10-13 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bake authentic multiethnic breads from the New York City bakery with a mission, with The Hot Bread Kitchen Cookbook, Yahoo Food's Cookbook of the Year. At first glance Hot Bread Kitchen may look like many other bakeries. Multigrain sandwich loaves, sourdough batards, baguettes, and Parker House rolls line the glass case up front in the small shop. But so, too, do sweet Mexican conchas, rich m’smen flatbreads, mini bialys sporting a filling of caramelized onion, and chewy Indian naan. In fact, the breads are as diverse as the women who bake them—because the recipes come from their homelands. Hot Bread Kitchen is a bakery that employs and empowers immigrant women, providing them with the skills to succeed in the culinary industry. The tasty corollary of this social enterprise is a line of authentic breads you won’t find anywhere else. Featured in some of New York City’s best restaurants and carried in dozens of retail outlets across the country, these ethnic gems can now be made at home with The Hot Bread Kitchen Cookbook.
