Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the constant barrage of things that consume our time and energy, it is often difficult for us to steal away and take time to just be quiet. Some things we have to do and choose to do can invade the time that we would have spent just being still. So as we schedule our days why not schedule time to be in the Silence. My Ramblings in the Silence is an opportunity to build the habit of sitting in the silence and listening to the Father. I had to make myself sit in Silence because it is so easy to get caught in the busyness of the day. Even when we think that we have planned well we can look up and find that our time has been spent and we wonder where it went. This devotional challenges you to take 21 days and spend intentional time sitting in the Silence. Not asking for anything, but listening for everything that the Father would want to speak to you. The short devotions shared here are my honest musings as I contend for the Silence. I invite you to share this experience with me and journal what God is speaking to you in the Silence.

Book excerpt: This book started as silly writings on Facebook that blossomed from there to what you see here. All my stories are made up and fictional but have some real characteristics, like people do drive, people do shop, etc. As you will see, they are written in the first person and I make myself the idiot, hero or whatever else one might call me. I referenced Starbucks simply because they are the most widely known coffee shop in the world. That story is also fictitious. My stories are not meant to be prejudicial toward any ethnic group. I have no desire to offend anyone. I wrote a silly story and people responded very positively and said they wanted more. After writing several stories I received responses about the possibility of compiling all my stories into a book. Of course, I laughed and thought that was silly, but the response was so overwhelming that I began to seriously consider it. A few close friends and family members suggested that I had nothing to lose, so I gave it serious thought. Finally, I was convinced, although grudgingly, to contact a publisher and see what happened. It is still silly to me, but if my friends on Facebook want it, I will make it available. The expense of making this book possible is small compared to the joy I hope it brings to my loyal readers. Enjoy the read and by all means, let me know what you think.

Book excerpt: NEW MILITARY FANTASY FROM THE CREATOR OF MONSTER HUNTER INTERNATIONAL LARRY CORREIA AND MASTER OF HORROR STEVE DIAMOND The war between Almacia and the Empire of Kolakolvia is in its hundredth year. Casualties grow on both sides as the conflict leaves no corner of the world untouched. Illarion Glaskov’s quiet life on the fringes of the empire is thrown into chaos when an impossible tragedy strikes his village. When he is conscripted into the Tsarist military, he is sent to serve in The Wall—an elite regiment that pilots suits of armor made from the husks of dead golems. But the great war is not the only—or even the worst—danger facing Illarion, as he is caught in a millennia-old conflict between two goddesses. He must survive the ravages of trench warfare, horrific monsters from another world, and the treacherous internal politics of the country he serves. At the publisher's request, this title is sold without DRM (Digital Rights Management). About Larry Correia: “Correia piles on the intrigue, action, and cliffhangers in the invigorating second Saga of the Forgotten Warrior epic fantasy. . . . Correia also weaves in elements that question the value of belief and the cost of giving authority to those who find more profit in preying on the weak. . . . Brisk fight scenes, lively characters, and plenty of black humor continue to make this series a real pleasure.” —Publishers Weekly About Steve Diamond: ”Residue will scare you—that’s its primary goal—but along the way it will touch you, shock you, make you laugh, make you cheer, and make you think. Horror has been waiting for Steve Diamond.” —Dan Wells

Book Miss MacIntosh My Darling

Download or read book Miss MacIntosh My Darling written by Marguerite Young and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This novel is one of the most ambitious and remarkable literary achievements of our time. It is a picaresque, psychological novel--a novel of the road, a journey or voyage of the human spirit in its search for reality in a world of illusion and nightmare. It is an epic of what might be called the Arabian Nights of American life. Marguerite Young's method is poetic, imagistic, incantatory; in prose of extraordinary richness she tests the nature of her characters--and the nature of reality. Miss MacIntosh, My Darling is written with oceanic music moving at many levels of consciousness and perception; but the toughly fibred realistic fabric is always there, in the happenings of the narrative, the humor, the precise details, the definitions of the characters. Miss MacIntosh herself, who hails from What Cheer, Iowa, and seems downright and normal, with an incorruptible sense of humor and the desire to put an end to phantoms; Catherine Cartwheel, the opium lady, a recluse who is shut away in a great New England seaside house and entertains imaginary guests; Mr. Spitzer, the lawyer, musical composer and mystical space traveler, a gentle man, wholly unsure of himself and of reality; his twin brother Peron, the gay and raffish gambler and virtuoso in the world of sports; Cousin Hannah, the horsewoman, balloonist, mountain-climber and militant Boston feminist, known as Al Hamad through all the seraglios of the East; Titus Bonebreaker of Chicago, wild man of God dreaming of a heavenly crown; the very efficient Christian hangman, Mr. Weed of the Wabash River Valley; a featherweight champion who meets his equal in a graveyard--these are a few who live with phantasmagorical vividness in the pages of Miss MacIntosh, My Darling. The novel touches on many aspects of life--drug addiction, woman's suffrage, murder, suicide, pregnancy both real and imaginary, schizophrenia, many strange loves, the psychology of gambling, perfectionism; but the profusion of this huge book serves always to intensify the force of the central question: "What shall we do when, fleeing from illusion, we are confronted by illusion?" What is real, what is dream? Is the calendar of the human heart the same as that kept by the earth? Is it possible that one may live a secondary life of which one does not know? In every aspect, Miss MacIntosh, My Darling stands by itself--in the lyric beauty of its prose, its imaginative vitality and cumulative emotional power. It is the work of a writer of genius.
