In a clear and compassionate style, Colier shows us how to understand and overcome the psychological barriers that keep us from achieving our full potential. The book demonstrates how to radically change our relationship with negative thoughts, move beyond comparison, self-doubt, and jealousy, and stop chasing a perfect and unattainable future and start living the moment that's here now. The work also chronicles the impact of those tragedies upon loved ones and friends, when the help necessary for liberation from a life of tragedy through proper counseling was not sought. Recorded within the book, is one man's struggle for redemption and reconciliation, of all that he lost or threw away, once the decision was reached and sought to bring an end to everything around him through a cycle of self-destruction. A cycle that was brought to a culminating point, on the modern day battlefields of Iraq.
Download or read book An Account of Hope written by John Billington and published by Tate Publishing. This book was released on 2007-11 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I AM WHO I AM, ' God told Moses. 'But who do you say that I am?' Jesus asked. These dramatic declarations conjure thoughts about God and are perhaps the single-most important factor in determining how we will live out our faith. What do we believe about God? Can His hand really guide our lives perfectly today? The issue is being able to trust that God is capable of what He claims and is trustworthy to fulfill it. An Account of Hope explores why the God of Christianity is who He says He is and what place reason holds in believing that to be true. An Account of Hope is a personal journey, answering questions regarding absolute truth in a culture saturated with relativism, as well as an inquiry into the belief systems that underpin and sustain our most-cherished needs. These needs, like hope, purpose, value, love, forgiveness, and meaning, define humanity, making life worth living. An Account of Hope approaches this subject from the thought that any belief system purporting to account for the worlds existence and humanitys needs should be evaluated by how well it accomplishes those tasks.

Book excerpt: My life revolves around just one thing: my daughter. I don't have the time or energy for anything else—not my foolish dream of an acting career and definitely not the annoying woman who opened a gym in the warehouse behind my garage. Piper's a menace to society, between her loud music, hurling weights around like a shot putter, and her building that is definitely not up to code. Unfortunately, my kid thinks she's the best thing since unlimited screen-time. It's getting harder to avoid Piper when my daughter keeps going over there to ask about hair braids and sports teams. Maybe I took things too far when I called the building inspector on Piper, but she can't keep bringing clients into that fire hazard of a gym. And I can't have her behind my house all the time, clad in spandex and making me think about things I have no business wishing for. I'm done with relationships. Whatever I feel for Piper is passing. If I drive her away, I can get back to raising my daughter in peace. Anything else is just a pipe dream… Speed Rail is a smoldering single-dad romance, the third stand-alone installment of the Bridges and Bitters series. If you love found family, hilarious antics and off-the-charts heat, you'll devour these sexy romantic comedies.
