Book My Memories of Hardin Simmons University

Download or read book My Memories of Hardin Simmons University written by Roy E Peterson and published by . This book was released on 2020-07-13 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: My memories of Hardin-Simmons University will stimulate memories for alumni and present students at HSU, but it is more than that. I wrote it as a great recruitment tool for use by the Admissions Office. The fun of being a student at HSU in particular is accented along with the academics and normal student life. For young adult males the stories are particularly relevant from the shaving cream fights to the selection of roommates. The story of Dam-It, the old dead dog mascot, is an HSU legend. The lessons learned in the final chapter certainly are relevant to everyone. I had a lot of lessons to learn the hard way. I never realized it more than when I wrote the material in the book. Some will find the poems in Sections 2 and 3 somewhat redundant, but they are excellent sound bites and instill images of key things about Hardin-Simmons and the activities associated with the institution. There is nothing greater than learning in a Christian environment where all the students are brothers and sisters in Christ and those that aren't are treated with respect. My life was enriched by my student experiences at Hardin-Simmons. Outstanding academics, a full student experience, close relations with the professors and a caring administration make HSU a top selection for a college or university. As the HSU song states, "Long live her noble cause."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This may be the most honest book ever written about Jesus. As a veteran pastor in the United Church of Christ, Dr. Watson shares his thoughts on the timeless topic of Christology--the doctrine of Christ--with new and creative insights, informative and accessible theology, personal anecdotes, and lively wit. Nothing is off-limits in this no-holds-barred contribution to the Jesus genre. Big Jesus is not another theological "spin" on the identity and nature of Jesus of Nazareth, nor is it a sentimental fairytale for those who prefer their Christology to be served up on Sunday mornings with fluffy sheep, little children, and footprints in the sand. This book is for Christian adults with a sense of humor.

Book Godfather of Poker

Download or read book Godfather of Poker written by Doyle Brunson and published by Cardoza Publishing. This book was released on with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The story of Doyle Brunson, an American treasure and the greatest poker player of all time, is one for the ages. Its a story of guts and glory, of good luck and bad, of triumph and unspeakable tragedy, of courage and grace. He has survived whippings, gun fights, stabbings, mobsters (the real-life ones portrayed in the movie Casino), murderers, and a death sentence when, riddled with incurable cancer, he was given months to live by doctors who told him his hand was played out.A master of the bluff, his most outrageous bluff came after being pistol-whipped and told hes going to die with a gunman pointing a pistol at his forehead. Again, he lived. Brunson has seen it all: from the athletic dreams and a leg shattered by a freak injury which waylaid his path to the NBA (he was drafted by the Lakers), to the devastating death of his first-born daughter, to outrageous exploits like trying to discover Noah Ark and raise the Titanic. Doyles rollercoaster of a life defines the saying: Truth is stranger than fiction.Twice a winner of the prestigious World Series of Poker in Las Vegas, he's won millions and lost millions sometimes in seconds but decidedly more of the former than the latter. Brunson can still be found playing in the highest stakes poker games in the world, often with as much as one million dollars in front of him. To every one of the 250 million people worldwide who play poker each year, Doyle Brunson, is the legendary Babe Ruth of Poker the greatest gambler and poker player who has ever lived.
