Both have served in leadership positions in various Christian organizations and in several churches. They have been active members of Faith Family Church in Milton, Washington since 1995. Eldon and Judy have been married since 1964 and have three grown children and five grandchildren. Eldon was saved when he was 17 but was not serving the Lord when they met and married. Her understanding of the Almighty God changed from "The Great Scorekeeper in the Sky" to her loving Heavenly Father. Jesus became her friend and lover of her soul. This understanding deepened with each new life experience, trial and joy. Her understanding of the Word of God increased as she applied it to her soul. This is her story, and the things she learned along the way. If you desire to know more about Personal Freedom In Christ Ministries, you may visit their website at www.personalfreedominchrist.

Download or read book Eating Disorders Anonymous written by Eating Disorders Anonymous (EDA) and published by GŸrze Books. This book was released on 2016-11-21 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Eating Disorders Anonymous: The Story of How We Recovered from Our Eating Disorders presents the accumulated experience, strength, and hope of many who have followed a Twelve-Step approach to recover from their eating disorders. Eating Disorders Anonymous (EDA), founded by sober members of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), have produced a work that emulates the “Big Book” in style and substance. EDA respects the pioneering work of AA while expanding its Twelve-Step message of hope to include those who are religious or seek a spiritual solution, and for those who are not and may be more comfortable substituting “higher purpose” for the traditional “Higher Power.” Further, the EDA approach embraces the development and maintenance of balance and perspective, rather than abstinence, as the goal of recovery. Initial chapters provide clear directions on how to establish a foothold in recovery by offering one of the founder’s story of hope, and collective voices tell why EDA is suitable for readers with any type of problem eating, including: anorexia nervosa, bulimia, binge eating, emotional eating, and orthorexia. The text then explains how to use the Twelve Steps to develop a durable and resilient way of thinking and acting that is free of eating disordered thoughts and behaviors, including how to pay it forward so that others might have hope of recovery. In the second half of the text, individual contributors share their experiences, describing what it was like to have an eating disorder, what happened that enabled them to make a start in recovery, and what it is like to be in recovery. Like the “Big Book,” these stories are in three sections: Pioneers of EDA, They Stopped in Time, and They Lost Nearly All. Readers using the Twelve Steps to recover from other issues will find the process consistent and reinforcing of their experiences, yet the EDA approach offers novel ideas and specific guidance for those struggling with food, weight and body image issues. Letters of support from three, highly-regarded medical professionals and two, well-known recovery advocates offer reassurance that EDA’s approach is consistent with that supported by medical research and standards in the field of eating disorders treatment. Intended as standard reading for members who participate in EDA groups throughout the world, this book is accessible and appropriate for anyone who wants to recover from an eating disorder or from issues related to food, weight, and body image.

Book Life Without My Family Lone Survivor of Eleven Children

Download or read book Life Without My Family Lone Survivor of Eleven Children written by Sophie Scenic-Daniels and published by Austin Macauley Publishers. This book was released on 2022-08-31 with total page 149 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nothing could have prepared me for what I was going to discover during my mother’s funeral. The level of trepidation I felt as I drew closer to my destination was held at bay only by the knowledge that my only surviving sister, Elizabeth, would be there with me, to keep each other company, and to share in the pain of bereavement. We had lost nine of our siblings, some as toddlers, and others as grown women. My sister met me and walked with me towards the crowd of mourners, crying in each other’s arms as we walked. Our mother, our rock and prayer worrier had gone. We had lost a total of eleven people altogether including our dad. Our mother was put to rest. I returned to England after ten days not knowing that would be the last time I would see my sister. She passed away less than a year after my mum. Out of eleven siblings, I was left alone. This is the story of my journey through life as a lone survivor. It is the story of how I have embraced my healing and found purpose for living despite my loss.

Book Pastors Are People Too

Book excerpt: The life of a pastor is not much different than that of most people. They have the same joys, heartaches, difficulties and opportunities, making their life more meaningful, exciting and adventurous. We shop at the same markets, pay the same monthly bills and taxes, experience the same hurts and heartaches, eat the same kind of food, attend the same community activities as everyone else. The only difference is we strive to make the lives of those we minister to more meaningful, less stressful, even enjoyable at times, while helping them in their times of crisis. Our main objective is to get people ready and to prepare themsleves to enter the life after our earthly experience. There is Joy (great Joy) in serving Jesus Christ. There is much satisfaction meeting and working with people on their level of existance. We are all "workers together" in Christ.

And the only clouds we see when we look up are the dark, black ones hurling around our head. We often wonder within ourselves, “Does God love me?” The answer is a resounding yes! Although God permits painful tragedies to come into our lives, He also will provide grace to get to the other side of it when we finally trust in His love. Yes, it may be painful, but you will get through it! This book, God of My Storms, is filled with my personal testimonies of God’s faithfulness to do just that in my life. According to Romans 8:28, we know that God will work all things for our good when we love and trust him.

Book A Journey Round My Room

Download or read book A Journey Round My Room written by Xavier de Maistre and published by . This book was released on 1871 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1790, Xavier de Maistre was 27 years old, and a soldier in the army of the Sardinian Kingdom, which covered swathes of modern-day Northern Italy and Southern France. He was placed under house-arrest in Turin for fighting an illegal duel. It was during the 42 days of his confinement here that he wrote the manuscript that would become Voyage autour de ma chambre. Inspired by the works of Laurence Sterne, with their digressive and colloquial style, de Maistre decided to make the most of his sentence by recording an exploration of the room as a travel journal. de Maistre’s book imbues the tour of his chamber with great mythology and grand scale. As he wanders the few steps that it takes to circumnavigate the space, his mind spins off into the ether. It parodies the travel journals of the eighteenth-century (such as A Voyage Around the World by Louis de Bougainville, 1771), and could be read today as an early take on the modern vogue for “psychogeography” — each tiny thing that he encounters sends de Maistre into rhapsodies, and mundane journeys become magnificent voyages.

Book excerpt: In this extraordinary third and final work in the second DemonWars trilogy, R. A. Salvatore weaves a diverse tapestry of characters and events from all novels of the series into an epic, unforgettable conclusion as a dark young king is driven by a quest to remake humankind. In Honce-the-Bear, King Aydrian Boudabras wakes in a cold sweat, his conscience haunted by those he has killed in order to garner power, including the rightful king before him, Danube, his mother’s husband. Now, Aydrian is preparing his armies for war, forging loyalties, playing one adversary against another, and giving those around him barely a glimpse at his remarkable powers. In the neighboring Behren, the evil Yatol Bardoh is unleashing a war engine of his own, using armies of mercenaries and horrific tactics to bring down the walls of Jacintha and to drive a ferocious dragon from the city of Dharyan. Between these two men, an explosive chain of events has been set into motion. Refugees flood the roads and valleys, alliances are formed and broken, navies clash at sea, and assassins seek their moment to strike. With Aydrian’s power and popularity turning into an avalanche and the courageous Byrnn Dharielle valiantly standing in the way of the Yalot Bardoh, the great players in the DemonWars saga will unite and clash on a single, magnificent stage. In book three of the second DemonWars trilogy, #1 New York Times bestselling author R. A. Salvatore concludes the second trilogy and gathers the whole arc of the seven books of the DemonWars saga in a stunning conclusion that Kirkus Reviews claims “fans will dance with joy” to experience.

Book Genesis Your Journey Home 2Nd Edition

Download or read book Genesis Your Journey Home 2Nd Edition written by Terry L. Newbegin and published by BalboaPress. This book was released on 2011-04-21 with total page 705 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Genesis: Your Journey Home is a groundbreaking book that goes far beyond the usual levels of biblical interpretations, and the ideas taught by religion that are difficult to understand. It bypasses word definition, root studies, historical explanations, and the ideas taught by religion that are difficult to understand but are important. This book examines the first twenty-five chapters, verse by verse, exploring and revealing the deeper metaphysical (beyond the literal) meaning of the text. Most people know that there are multiple levels of truth contained within the Bible, but until now none have brought forth the ultimate Truth hidden within the mundane, semi-historical writings. Rather than creating new doctrines, this book gently peels back ALL levels of dogmatic views to reveal the true core essence of God, humanity, and the nature of reality. Deep within the ancient biblical text is found the true story (record) of creation, the reason for our very existence, and the history of All That IS. This book is for those that are searching for authenticity, purpose, and a sense that truth lies somewhere beyond religious teachings but who are reluctant to discard the inherent value of scripture. This book brings comfort, personal empowerment, a new understanding of God, and fosters a renewed sense of responsibility for life. It is a book whose time has come at last, as it brings humanity to a deeper understanding of God and a realization of their ultimate purpose.

Book excerpt: Finding herself alone, upon the untimely death of her grandmother, young Elayna became increasingly troubled about her future, but more than that. She needed to know where her grandmother was and that she was okay. She wanted so much to know who she was without her grandmother and what there was to hope for after this life. Was that, which existed beyond the veil, friend or enemy? She yearned for understanding, direction, and comfort. If she was to find the answers she sought, she could not detour off course due to imprudent effort. Deficient in the foundation of the workings of God and His purposes, she was determined to obtain answers. She needed answers: Was there a god and if so how would she know? Elayna set out on a quest of discovery. With the mutual help of a friend, she came to believe in the gift of angels and the love of God. Her journey begins—to conquer discouragement, dispel all doubts, and continue in purpose…to believe…to know. The purpose of life can sometimes be challenging to comprehend when it presents so many varying philosophies, theories, ideas, and perceptions which can leave a person confused and unsure of how to interpret the who, what, where, how, and why of it all; let alone to conclude why the understanding of god, Christ, and their angelic servants are so crucial in our lives. How have they become integral to our happiness in and outside this sphere we call Earth, our temporary home? Elayna and her prospective husband, Craig, embark on a quest of discovery. They dig through a collection of questions and deep contemplation, hoping that in the end, when analyzed, they will have answered the question - 'Who am I and what does it matter?’ Accept that you are God’s child Accept that there is a loving God Accept that you have an important purpose Accept that you are NOT alone Accept that, notwithstanding trials, there is hope-things do work out Accept all have differences- in their own way, time, and by their own gifts, all contribute to the world they live in. By contributing, you are also contributing to God’s purposes Accept that there is good Accept that with sincere effort and intentions – the path you need to be on will be revealed Accept Christ as Redeemer, rescuer, and friend Accept that this life does not end here. There is a beautiful new world, life, and existence beyond our own

Book My Journey to Divine Healing

Download or read book My Journey to Divine Healing written by Henry E. Dorsey and published by Author House. This book was released on 2011-07-06 with total page 94 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was written from my personal experience with the provisions and principles described in trhe Bible. My personal health problems encountered over the course of my 73 years on this Earth was in part, the reason this book was written. I share my story now in hope that someone will be blessed my the information set to print here. My primary audience is the American Church, from which my Journey began. In my early years, I was blessed to be a part of the Baptist congregation in Berkeley, California. As time progressed from my exposure to the Gospel in the Church to my actual conversion experience at 12 years old, many questions arose which were not answered by my Church. In my conversatons with my peers and family, the gap in the questions and answers only got wider. Many of these questions are answered in this book. It is suficent to say, MY JOURNEY TO DIVINE HEALING was my effort to organize my life experiences in such a way as to convey both meaning and structure around existance. It is my belief that many people have had, and still have the same life experiences and concerns as myself and have not recieved satisfactory answers. It is my intent to shed light on these concerns from a Biblical foundation, with logic, knowledge, undrestanding and wisdom. I believe the reader will be rewarded many times over when digesting the content of this Book. In addition I think the reader will be pleasantly surprised when they begin to do what they learn.

Book It s Not Too Late

  • Author : Dan Dupee
  • Publisher : Baker Books

  • ISBN : 1493401629
  • Pages : 208 pages

Download or read book It s Not Too Late written by Dan Dupee and published by Baker Books. This book was released on 2016-03-08 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It has long been said that once kids are in high school and college, they are beyond the influence of their parents. This pervasive cultural myth is not supported by research, biblical teaching, or even anecdotal accounts. Yet because of it, many Christian parents live in silent angst about the faith of their older and adult children, thinking they can no longer do anything to shape their kids' spiritual and life decisions. Drawing on sociological research and Scripture, Dan Dupee shows parents that it is not too late--and in fact these turbulent years of transitioning into adulthood are a time when their kids may need their guidance the most. He shows parents how to make the most out of the opportunities they have to offer guidance, wisdom, and spiritual support, with the goal of seeing their children not just survive college with faith intact but enter adulthood with a faith of their own--one that will carry them through all that life brings their way.
