Book A Disciple s Journey

Download or read book A Disciple s Journey written by Larry Tippetts and published by . This book was released on 2020-07-31 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Disciple's Journey describes my spiritual growth as a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have tried to capture in words the remarkable process by which our loving Heavenly Father communicates with His children, the vital role of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ in the great plan of happiness, and the profound blessing of the Gift of the Holy Ghost to help us through the ups and downs of our mortal journey. The book is divided into four parts: *An overview of my spiritual life from my youth to the present day.*A brief description of the key doctrines and principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ and the great plan of salvation, and why they are so crucial in our quest to be disciples of the Master.*An explanation of how one obtains spiritual knowledge through the scriptures, living prophets, and the gift of the Holy Ghost, including essential ingredients in the process of spiritual formation, with emphasis on spiritual exercises and holy habits.*The final (and largest) section recounts my efforts to apply these divine principles in day-to-day living as a disciple of Jesus Christ--family life, serving in the Church, overcoming obstacles, learning to love others as Christ loved us, and developing a Christ-like character. Many years ago I discovered the power of writing regularly in a personal journal, not only to record significant happenings in my life, but even more as a repository for inspired thoughts and feelings from God through the Holy Ghost. My journal became a means for me to remember the heavenly guidance I was receiving to overcome my sins and weaknesses and, hopefully, become a better man. Over the years it became easier to recognize personal revelation and find words to describe it in my journal. I also used my journal to monitor my progress and my setbacks. Journal writing has become every bit as valuable as the foundational disciplines of scripture study and prayer in my spiritual development.Throughout this autobiography I have included hundreds of short journal entries to illustrate the principles I want to share with others, especially my family and posterity, hoping to encourage my readers to utilize this effective tool for heavenly help.Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer. His atonement in Gethsemane and on Calvary makes it possible for every human soul to return to the presence of Heavenly Father and His divine Son. Mortal life is filled with joys and sorrows, but it is all preparatory to the Life Jesus offers, a more abundant life, beyond our ability to fully imagine, but a life I long for more intently each passing day.

Book In Christ s Stead

Download or read book In Christ s Stead written by Joanna P. Moore and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 1902 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Because of the comfort and help it has given to the neglected little ones of earth. I have never been a wife or mother. Now no true woman can say this without an undertone of regret, and yet, ever since the time I rocked the cradle for my little brothers and sisters, until to-day, the sunny face of childhood and the loving touch of little fingers, be they dark or fair, have kept the mother-love alive in my heart. But the children I saw were too many to be gathered into one mother-heart, therefore God gave help through this blessed Society, which, during its twenty-five years has sent forth a thousand women with the love and patience of true motherhood, and these have saved a multitude of children of all races, from a life of sin and for a life of usefulness on earth and a home in heaven. This service, alone, secures for the Society the gratitude of the whole nation, and with the nation I lay down my little tribute of love. The help given to the children comforts me most, but it is only one of the many streams of blessings that the Society has sent flowing through barren lands in the United States, Cuba, Porto Rico and Mexico, causing them to blossom as the rose. We do not forget that God is the real source of all supplies, but He has used the prayers and careful gleanings of our Baptist motherhood and their children to accomplish this great work, during the last twenty-five years, and that He may grant them still greater zeal, faith and love for the service of the next twenty-five years, or until Jesus comes, is the prayer of the author.

Book Plow To Pulpit

Download or read book Plow To Pulpit written by Jerry D. Johnson and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2021-04-13 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I hope this book will be an encouragement to all that God can use anyone who is willing to totally commit their life to Him. When I first felt the call of God to the ministry, I was convinced that I was not worthy or capable of serving in the ministry. How could a farm boy with very little spiritual background be of any use to the Lord? I have learned that God does not determine the choice of His servants by appearance, education, but by their heart. Samuel 16:7 says, "The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." Fortunately for me, I had spiritual leaders in my life that helped me sort out God's will for my life. When I was convinced that ministry was God's will for my life, then I moved in that direction. Little by little, I sorted things out in my life in terms of God's will. If it was God's will and I was sure of it, then my life must move in that direction. I learned God only opens one door at a time, when we walk through that door and we are sure it is God's direction, then the next door will open. The how and why is up to God, and we must trust Him under all conditions and circumstances.

Book Feed My Sheep

Download or read book Feed My Sheep written by Bernard C Mumford and published by Lifechangers Pub.. This book was released on 2014-09-16 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 1954 to 2014 marks 60 years in active ministry for Bob Mumford. His story began in the Navy in a little four-bed sick bay on the USS Aludra when he began to embrace the call to teach. Feeding God s people in every nation has been his life-long commission. This story chronicles Bob s journey from meeting Christ through his Navy experience, Bible College, Charismatic Renewal, and the Covenant Movement. He shares what he has learned in following Jesus all these years. God, as a heavenly Father, set His choice on a small street kid from the other side of the tracks, moving him towards his destiny we know as THAT. If He can do it with a street kid, He can do it with you and with those whom you are seeking to share the Good News of the Kingdom. Maturity in the body of Christ depends on each of us discovering and being loyal to the process of moving towards our destiny. May we not tire and become weary of the journey; His purpose and intent is more than worthy of our uninterrupted abiding."

Book The Most Excellent Way to Lead

Download or read book The Most Excellent Way to Lead written by Perry Noble and published by NavPress. This book was released on 2016-03-01 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Speakers often use the words vision, boldness, and influence to describe the characteristics of effective leaders. Perry Noble, in The Most Excellent Way to Lead, makes the case that the heart of great leadership lies elsewhere. Perry, despite “winning” the label “least likely to succeed” in high school, beat the odds against him. Today, he inspires thirty-five thousand people every weekend to live for something greater than themselves. He credits this achievement to the leadership principles he has learned from the Bible. Surprisingly, the essence of leadership that produces genuine growth is buried in a Bible chapter often read at weddings. In this groundbreaking book, Perry walks us through that leadership chapter, describing the fifteen qualities of an inspirational leader. Whether you are an entrepreneur or a new parent, this book will encourage you to see every opportunity in life as a chance to lead in the “most excellent way.”
