With extensive repairs required to bring the property back to its original state, Bill hires several townsfolk to help, including Ed the carpenter, Little Bit the housekeeper, and Lauri the bartender. On New Years Eve, high above the Fork River, chaos ensues. Partygoers are attacked. The enemy is just a single cell in hundreds that have invaded America to find hidden nuclear weapon plans. Some of the employees are forced to do as their captors saylike Lauri, who must serve the enemy food, drinks, and anything else they may desire. Bill devises a plan to take back the mountain, even if they have to go underground to survive. Other townsfolk get creative, devising weapons out of crude farming equipment while staying alert at all times. As the leader, Bill must stay strong to keep things in some kind of order, find a way to rescue Lauri, and stop the infiltrators.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Horus is a very social dragon. He has many friends and is busy with lots of activities that he enjoys. Horus seems happy—but he’s not. When he’s home, by himself, Horus is actually a very sad dragon. You see, Horus has a secret wish. For as long as he can remember, Horus has yearned for wings. But only girl dragons have wings, and Horus learned when he was just a small dragon that he shouldn’t even think of having wings of his own. So it seems that poor Horus’ wish will never, ever come true. Then one day a dragon with the most beautiful rainbow wings comes to speak at Horus’ church, and suddenly Horus has a chance to be truly happy, after all. The Secret Wish of Dragon H, a delightful story in its own right, is also an educational tool that will be welcomed by parents, educators, and faith communities who are looking for a gentle, age-appropriate way to help children begin to understand transgender identity. A discussion guide for parents and teachers is included, with questions to help deepen children’s understanding and to serve as a springboard to conversation.

Book excerpt: How does one know the will of God? For many people, the will of God seems to be a neverending quest to uncover an illusive mystery. But for Alexander Isaacs, knowing the will of God is a way of life. Born and raised in Guyana, Alexander's early years were met with family tragedy and hardship. Through hard work and determination, he grew and thrived, especially in the classroom. Then, when he learned about God through a Branch Sabbath School program, his life changed. But what next? What should he do with his life? What career should he pursue? In what capacity should he serve God? Did God have a plan for his life? The questions of life were before him, and he wisely sought God's guidance for his life. Through prayer and fasting, Alexander waited for God to reveal His will for his life. And God did not let him down. Time and time again, Alexander has asked God for direction when faced with life decisions. And time and time again, God has led Alexander in the path he should go. Be inspired. Be motivated. Be encouraged. But above all, learn how to exercise faith in God's leadings after reading the story of a man who was willing to say, Thy Will Be Done.

Download or read book The War of Women II written by Alexandre Dumas and published by Lindhardt og Ringhof. This book was released on 2022-09-13 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ‘The War of Women II’ follows the continuing rivalry between Nanon de Lartigues and Viscountess de Cambes, who have both fallen in love with the Baron de Canolles. Unlike many of his other works, this book and its predecessor focus their attention on the two women, casting the male characters in secondary roles. Set in 17th century France, the political unrest has deepened, and chaos threatens the monarchy. However, Baron de Canolles has more pressing matters on his mind. A boisterous romp, packed with twists and turns, dastardly villains, and historical detail, this is a must for fans of Dumas’ swashbuckling stories. Alexandre Dumas (1802 – 1870) was one of the most popular French authors and playwrights of the 19th Century. After the death of his father, Dumas travelled to Paris where he eventually decided to work in the theatre. He first came to public attention at the age of 27 with his first play, ‘King Henry III and his Courts.’ After a succession of successful stage plays, Dumas turned his hand to writing novels. Many of these were serialised in newspapers, such as ‘La Comtesse de Salisbury; Édouard III,’ and ‘Le Capitaine Paul.’ Many of Dumas’ later works have been hailed as timeless classics and adapted for television and the silver screen, such as ‘The Three Musketeers’, starring ‘Lord of the Rings’ ́ Orlando Bloom, and ‘The Count of Monte Cristo’, starring ‘Superman’ star, Henry Cavill.
Download or read book Awakening To Me written by Kerri Hummingbird Sami and published by Siwarkinte. This book was released on 2014-06-07 with total page 244 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Awakening To Me is the Category Winner in 2014 The Indie Spiritual Book Awards, and 2015 Pinnacle Book Achievement Awards. It is a story of personal metamorphosis, written over the course of several years in real time as life unfolded and lessons were learned. It is a work of naked truth about Kerri Hummingbird's struggles with borderline personality disorder, recovering from divorce after a 20 year marriage, and seeking love from outside herself. The story documents how alternative healing methods (shamanic energy medicine and reiki) and mindfulness practices (Yoga and Toltec wisdom) led to an amazing transformation that arguably negates the former psychological diagnosis. Kerri shares her story so that others may witness that with dedication, faith, and a willingness to shine a light into the shadows, challenges can be overcome and lasting inner peace and self-love can be cultivated. Let Kerri's story and her heartfelt recommendations for self-help inspire you to begin your own journey of healing. "Kerri's raw courage and vulnerable transparency blaze a trail for any woman on a healing journey. Awakening to Me is a magnificent book that takes us behind the scenes of transformation, and shows how even the most difficult situations can be the fodder for finding oneself. Let Kerri's book guide you to find your independence and self-love." — HeatherAsh Amara, author of The Toltec Path of Transformation and Warrior Goddess Training "In Awakening To Me, Kerri shares her intimate and difficult personal and spiritual journey to identify and express her authentic being into the world. Her story is engaging, sometimes disturbing, yet with a clear underlying thread of compassion for herself and others also engaged in their own struggle with borderline personality disorder. In her words, she seeks to give voice to those who have no voice. Her life voyage takes her through light and darkness, to amazing heights and agonizing lows. In her world travels she meets with some of the teachers who have helped shape the views of spiritual development for a generation. Each has something to share with her that may shed light upon your own path, as well. It has been my pleasure and honor to walk with Kerri through some of her journey. I heartily recommend this book to you as a tool for your own amazing self-exploration. Among these pages you will find a courageous and dedicated explorer of life and spirit." — Gerry Starnes, M.Ed, author of Spirit Paths: The Quest for Authenticity “This powerful book intensely and beautifully expresses the internal world of someone with Borderline Personality Disorder. The author takes us on a tour of her internal emotional world: the depths of despair, the emptiness, and frantic efforts to find love. Ms. Hummingbird takes us with her on the journey toward internal independence and core stability – what works and what doesn’t. From her personal work she provides suggestions, exercises and quotes. This book will be of profound use to anyone with this diagnosis, their family members, therapists and allies. In fact, I’d also recommend it for those diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or who have symptoms of Bipolar Disorder. But, in truth, we can all benefit from reading this book. Awakening to Me is an invitation to self-honesty, persistence in seeking meaningful help, and the long work of sustained effort. This book is well written and well organized but it is the author’s honesty and insight that makes it powerful. Her emotions and thoughts, the related beliefs are clearly described. These are in turn related to events in Ms. Hummingbird's history, into present relationships and dynamics in a manner that doesn’t lose the reader in her internal world. Instead, we understand ourselves better, our friends and family members. We understand better what it means to be human.” — Category Judge, Indie Spiritual Book Awards 2014
Download or read book Evangelizing the Depths written by Simone Pacot and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2018-09-28 with total page 167 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many people don't know how to reconcile the spiritual with the reality of where they are psychologically, so their psychological issues are not submitted to the spirit. Thus, followers of Christ are often living with shame, oppression, or even hatred. It should not be this way. The good news is that there is a way to wholeness. Evangelizing the Depths calls us to listen closely to the Word of God as, very practically, Simone Pacot explains how the grace of the Triune God can restore us to life in every facet of our being, even those that have been deeply wounded by events of the past. As the entwining of the spiritual and psychological levels is explored, this book will help establish us in the love and the truth of God. As this happens, it becomes possible to identify the paths of death that we have taken in the past and then leave them behind as we choose to follow Christ along the way of true life.
