Book excerpt: A collection of 52 prayers and stories to inspire, unlock inner strength, and navigate daily life with spirit, from the author of Wake Up to the Joy of You. “Prayer is a bridge to your truest self that you can access at any time.”—ARIANNA HUFFINGTON “This lovely book vibrates with wisdom.”—JESSICA ALBA “Read this book to discover the power of prayer.”—GABRIELLE BERNSTEIN Prayer is your ongoing conversation with something larger than yourself. And similar to a mindfulness practice, a daily prayer practice has the power to change your life. Regardless of whether or not you practice organized religion, this gift is available to you as a way to unlock greater awareness and inner strength. With her signature joy and heartfelt wisdom, Agapi Stassinopoulos presents a non-denominational guide to harnessing this power of prayer in your life and using it to find connection, peace, and gratitude. With a structure and style similar to her bestselling meditation book Wake Up to the Joy of You, Agapi encourages us to pray for everything, not just for special occasions. You can get your God fix anytime and anywhere: at the gym or on the train, when you're on a deadline or when you're enjoying your first cup of coffee. Accompanied by her personal stories, she shares fifty-two prayers for a year of personal transformation, from navigating relationships with family and friends and expanding past your fears to uncovering your true self and releasing your inner creativity. With prayers written with her unique poetry, verve, and spiritual insight, Agapi guides us in transforming the fear, worry, and anxiety of everyday life into conscious moments of peace and calm. Ultimately, she is teaching us the language of our own soul and the larger energy out there, whatever you want to call it, which is always available to us if we know how to listen and to speak with spirit.

Book Food52 A New Way to Dinner

Download or read book Food52 A New Way to Dinner written by Amanda Hesser and published by Ten Speed Press. This book was released on 2016-10-18 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A smart, inspiring cookbook showing how to plan, shop, and cook for dinners (and lunches and desserts) all through the week. The secret? Cooking ahead. Amanda Hesser and Merrill Stubbs, founders of the online kitchen and home destination Food52, pull off home-cooked dinners with their families with stunning regularity. But they don't cook every night. Starting with flexible base dishes made on the weekend, Amanda and Merrill mix, match, and riff to create new dinners, lunches, and even desserts throughout the week. Blistered tomatoes are first served as a side, then become sauce for spaghetti with corn. Tuna, poached in olive oil on a Sunday, gets paired with braised peppers and romesco for a fiery dinner, with spicy mayo for a hearty sandwich, and with zucchini and couscous for a pack-and-go salad. Amanda and Merrill’s seasonal plans give you everything you need to set yourself up well for the week, with grocery lists and cooking timelines. They also share clever tips and tricks for more confident cooking, showing how elements can work across menus and seasons to fit your mood or market, and how to be scrappy with whatever’s left in the fridge. These building blocks form A New Way to Dinner, the key to smarter, happier cooking that leaves you with endless possibilities for the week ahead.

Book In My Own Time

    Book Details:
  • Author : Humphrey Burton
  • Publisher : Boydell & Brewer
  • Release : 2021
  • ISBN : 1783274816
  • Pages : 631 pages

Download or read book In My Own Time written by Humphrey Burton and published by Boydell & Brewer. This book was released on 2021 with total page 631 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sir Humphrey Burton is one of Britain's most influential post-war music and arts broadcasters. Witty, humorous and full of humanity, Burton's account presents us with never before recorded perspectives on the world of British cultural broadcasting and classical music. Burton worked with such outstanding directing talents as Ken Russell and John Schlesinger, before becoming the BBC's Head of Music and the Arts. Already in the 1960s, in conversations with Glenn Gould for instance, Burton helped to create innovative ways of presenting music to new audiences. Following Sir David Frost's call to LWT/ITV, Burton rose to prominence with presenting the award-winning arts series Aquarius (1970-1975). The early 1970s saw the beginning of Burton's long association with Leonard Bernstein. Burton was at hand filming the maestro's educational programs, as well as concerts with the Vienna Philharmonic. Unforgettable are his chronicles of Bernstein's last years, culminating in a worldwide broadcast of the conductor's Berlin Freedom Concert after the fall of the Berlin Wall. Burton's gift for communicating music turned him into a celebrated Bernstein biographer. With multi award-winning television programmes to his name, such as the BBC's Young Musician of the Year, Burton left an indelible mark on Britain's music and arts broadcasting history. Sir Humphrey Burton offers us many encounters with twentieth century classical music's superstars and former broadcasting colleagues. What transpires is a creative mind at work that never lost sight of the demand that the appropriate presentation of music can only go hand-in-hand with a deep understanding of music itself. This long-awaited autobiography is a must-read for classical musical enthusiasts and those fascinated by some of the twentieth century's star performers. It also offers unique insights into the history of music, the BBC and arts broadcasting in twentieth-century Britain.

Download or read book Follow Me to Ground written by Sue Rainsford and published by Scribner. This book was released on 2020-01-21 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of Literary Hub’s Favorite Books of the Year A haunted, surreal debut novel about an otherworldly young woman, her father, and her lover that culminates in a shocking moment of betrayal—one that upends our understanding of power, predation, and agency. Ada and her father, touched by the power to heal illness, live on the edge of a village where they help sick locals—or “Cures”—by cracking open their damaged bodies or temporarily burying them in the reviving, dangerous Ground nearby. Ada, a being both more and less than human, is mostly uninterested in the Cures, until she meets a man named Samson. When they strike up an affair, to the displeasure of her father and Samson’s widowed, pregnant sister, Ada is torn between her old way of life and new possibilities with her lover—and eventually comes to a decision that will forever change Samson, the town, and the Ground itself. Follow Me to Ground is fascinating and frightening, urgent and propulsive. In Ada, award-winning author Sue Rainsford has created an utterly bewitching heroine, one who challenges conventional ideas of womanhood and the secrets of the body. Slim but authoritative, Follow Me to Ground lingers long after its final page, pulling the reader into a dream between fairy tale and nightmare, desire and delusion, folktale and warning.

Book excerpt: *This book is part of a SERIES and NOT a standalone.A gripping, friends-to-lovers-to-enemies, dark romance.New York City-not for the faint-hearted or the sweetest of souls. The last thing I expected was to be back in this city, after all these years. And I definitely did not expect to be back in this house, where it all started. I have spent years avoiding this place, and the cold hard reality of what happened here. But I have no choice. We are all quarantined together in this house. It took the end of the world, for me to come back here and face him.Milo Sinclair.Once my legal guardian and savior in life. The person who saved me from drowning in loneliness. Who gave me everything I ever wanted. But then he took everything away from me. Plus interest. He broke me. He will not break me again. This is a dark forbidden romance. It contains discussions about the pandemic, mental health issues, mature new adults. It also contains dubious situations that some readers might find offensive.Dark romance is subjective. Some readers have found this book to be a light read while others were sensitive to the material. Milo isn't a normal romance hero, and some might not consider him a hero at ALL. So, please don't read this if any of the above bothers you.Quarantined is book one of The Quarantine Series.

Book The Gift of an Ordinary Day

Download or read book The Gift of an Ordinary Day written by Katrina Kenison and published by Grand Central Publishing. This book was released on 2009-09-07 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Gift of an Ordinary Day is an intimate memoir of a family in transition, with boys becoming teenagers, careers ending and new ones opening up, and an attempt to find a deeper sense of place—and a slower pace—in a small New England town. This is a story of mid-life longings and discoveries, of lessons learned in the search for home and a new sense of purpose, and the bittersweet intensity of life with teenagers—holding on, letting go. Poised on the threshold between family life as she's always known it and her older son's departure for college, Kenison is surprised to find that the times she treasures most are the ordinary, unremarkable moments of everyday life, the very moments that she once took for granted, or rushed right through without noticing at all. The relationships, hopes, and dreams that Kenison illuminates will touch women's hearts, and her words will inspire mothers everywhere as they try to make peace with the inevitable changes in store.

Download or read book In the Quarantine Kitchen written by Traci Cangiano and published by . This book was released on 2020-10-24 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a product of quarantine. People from all over the US and beyond came together on a Facebook page and united. No politics. No negativity and NO corona. We supported each other, allowed only cooking and food to be on the page, and our page commanded over 34k people since 3/18/2020. This book is a compilation of 116 recipes that were submitted, photos, stories and dedications from the members of this page. The proceeds of our book will benefit a local charity (Stephen Siller Foundation/Tunnel to Towers Covid19 Heroes Fund) that is supporting front line heroes. This book will also serve as a piece of history. It will remind any one who purchases it that during a very dark time in our country's history there was that one group who stuck together and supported one another through cooking and meals for our families. It has been nothing short of amazing to have created this with my daughters and to now turn it into a much asked for book. We have many front line members/family who contributed to our book and the stories will reflect it. The feedback on this project has been amazing. People love it and so do we.
