Statistics show there has been an increase of emergency visits, hospitalizations, and deaths related to TBIs. TBIs can cause many medical issues which could lead to a challenging recovery process. Patients typically need to undergo intensive rehabilitation therapies programs. These therapies can include physical therapy, speech and language pathology, occupational therapy, and music therapy. Interprofessional collaboration among these therapies is beneficial to both the clinicians as well as the patients. Though there is little research on the collaboration of these specific therapies, the rehabilitation therapies sometimes use music-based interventions to help patients; and music therapy works to achieve some of the same goals as the rehabilitation therapies. Through this research, the author created guidelines to help music therapists collaboratively work with the rehabilitation therapies to help patients achieve their goals. The author includes recommendations for the guidelines, as well as recommendations for future research and interprofessional collaboration education.
