Book Multivariable Calculus

Download or read book Multivariable Calculus written by Don Shimamoto and published by . This book was released on 2019-11-17 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers the standard material for a one-semester course in multivariable calculus. The topics include curves, differentiability and partial derivatives, multiple integrals, vector fields, line and surface integrals, and the theorems of Green, Stokes, and Gauss. Roughly speaking, the book is organized into three main parts corresponding to the type of function being studied: vector-valued functions of one variable, real-valued functions of many variables, and, finally, the general case of vector-valued functions of many variables. As is always the case, the most productive way for students to learn is by doing problems, and the book is written to get to the exercises as quickly as possible. The presentation is geared towards students who enjoy learning mathematics for its own sake. As a result, there is a priority placed on understanding why things are true and a recognition that, when details are sketched or omitted, that should be acknowledged. Otherwise, the level of rigor is fairly normal. Matrices are introduced and used freely. Prior experience with linear algebra is helpful, but not required. Latest corrected printing: January 8, 2020. Updated information available online at the Open Textbook Library.

Book Multivariable Calculus Early Transcendentals

Download or read book Multivariable Calculus Early Transcendentals written by Jon Rogawski and published by Macmillan. This book was released on 2007-06-22 with total page 610 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organized to support an "early transcendentals" approach to the multivariable section of the course, this version of Rogawski's highly anticipated text presents calculus with solid mathematical precision but with an everyday sensibility that puts the main concepts in clear terms. It is rigorous without being inaccessible and clear without being too informal--it has the perfect balance for instructors and their students.

Book Advanced Calculus Revised Edition

Download or read book Advanced Calculus Revised Edition written by Lynn Harold Loomis and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2014-02-26 with total page 595 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An authorised reissue of the long out of print classic textbook, Advanced Calculus by the late Dr Lynn Loomis and Dr Shlomo Sternberg both of Harvard University has been a revered but hard to find textbook for the advanced calculus course for decades. This book is based on an honors course in advanced calculus that the authors gave in the 1960's. The foundational material, presented in the unstarred sections of Chapters 1 through 11, was normally covered, but different applications of this basic material were stressed from year to year, and the book therefore contains more material than was covered in any one year. It can accordingly be used (with omissions) as a text for a year's course in advanced calculus, or as a text for a three-semester introduction to analysis. The prerequisites are a good grounding in the calculus of one variable from a mathematically rigorous point of view, together with some acquaintance with linear algebra. The reader should be familiar with limit and continuity type arguments and have a certain amount of mathematical sophistication. As possible introductory texts, we mention Differential and Integral Calculus by R Courant, Calculus by T Apostol, Calculus by M Spivak, and Pure Mathematics by G Hardy. The reader should also have some experience with partial derivatives. In overall plan the book divides roughly into a first half which develops the calculus (principally the differential calculus) in the setting of normed vector spaces, and a second half which deals with the calculus of differentiable manifolds.

Book Multivariable Calculus with Vectors

Download or read book Multivariable Calculus with Vectors written by Hartley Rogers and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 824 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text is for the third semester or fourth and fifth quarters of calculus; i.e., for multivariable or vector calculus courses. This text presents a conceptual underpinning for multivariable calculus that is as natural and intuitively simple as possible. More than its competitors, this book focuses on modeling physical phenomena, especially from physics and engineering, and on developing geometric intuition.

Book Multivariable Mathematics

Download or read book Multivariable Mathematics written by Theodore Shifrin and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2004-01-26 with total page 514 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multivariable Mathematics combines linear algebra and multivariable mathematics in a rigorous approach. The material is integrated to emphasize the recurring theme of implicit versus explicit that persists in linear algebra and analysis. In the text, the author includes all of the standard computational material found in the usual linear algebra and multivariable calculus courses, and more, interweaving the material as effectively as possible, and also includes complete proofs. * Contains plenty of examples, clear proofs, and significant motivation for the crucial concepts. * Numerous exercises of varying levels of difficulty, both computational and more proof-oriented. * Exercises are arranged in order of increasing difficulty.

Download or read book Multivariable Calculus written by James Stewart and published by Class Medical Science. This book was released on 2003 with total page 577 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stewart's CALCULUS, FIFTH EDITION has the mathematical precision, accuracy, clarity of exposition and outstanding examples and problem sets that have characterized the first four editions. Stewart retains the focus on problem solving and the pedagogical system that has made the book a favorite of students and instructors in a wide variety of colleges and universities throughout the world. In this Fifth Edition, he has made hundreds of small improvements: new examples, additional steps in existing examples, updating of data in existing examples and exercises, new phrases and margin notes to clarify the exposition, references to other sources and web sites, redrawn art, and references to the TEC CD (Tools for Enriching Calculus). These refinements ensure that students and instructors have the best materials available. The number of pages in the book, however, remains unchanged from the 4th edition. Further support for students and instructors is now available through a vast array of supplementary material.

Book A Course in Multivariable Calculus and Analysis

Download or read book A Course in Multivariable Calculus and Analysis written by Sudhir R. Ghorpade and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-03-20 with total page 477 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This self-contained textbook gives a thorough exposition of multivariable calculus. The emphasis is on correlating general concepts and results of multivariable calculus with their counterparts in one-variable calculus. Further, the book includes genuine analogues of basic results in one-variable calculus, such as the mean value theorem and the fundamental theorem of calculus. This book is distinguished from others on the subject: it examines topics not typically covered, such as monotonicity, bimonotonicity, and convexity, together with their relation to partial differentiation, cubature rules for approximate evaluation of double integrals, and conditional as well as unconditional convergence of double series and improper double integrals. Each chapter contains detailed proofs of relevant results, along with numerous examples and a wide collection of exercises of varying degrees of difficulty, making the book useful to undergraduate and graduate students alike.
