Book Vehicle Multiplex Communication

Download or read book Vehicle Multiplex Communication written by Christopher A Lupini and published by SAE International. This book was released on 2004-05-28 with total page 394 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multiplexing can be best discussed at three levels - vehicle, ECU or component, and IC. Within each level are partitions for software and hardware, and within each partition are divisions of functionality such as buffer size. The content in this book will help the reader to acquire a basic understanding of vehicle multiplexing systems, primarily from the passenger car and light truck viewpoint. Some discussion of heavy-duty and off-road vehicle multiplexing is presented, along with a look at industrial automation - a fast-growing multiplex field already eclipsing automotive usage.

Book Generation Multiplex

Download or read book Generation Multiplex written by Timothy Shary and published by University of Texas Press. This book was released on 2009-01-27 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When teenagers began hanging out at the mall in the early 1980s, the movies followed. Multiplex theaters offered teens a wide array of perspectives on the coming-of-age experience, as well as an escape into the alternative worlds of science fiction and horror. Youth films remained a popular and profitable genre through the 1990s, offering teens a place to reflect on their evolving identities from adolescence to adulthood while simultaneously shaping and maintaining those identities. Drawing examples from hundreds of popular and lesser-known youth-themed films, Timothy Shary here offers a comprehensive examination of the representation of teenagers in American cinema in the 1980s and 1990s. He focuses on five subgenres—school, delinquency, horror, science, and romance/sexuality—to explore how they represent teens and their concerns, how these representations change over time, and how youth movies both mirror and shape societal expectations and fears about teen identities and roles. He concludes that while some teen films continue to exploit various notions of youth sexuality and violence, most teen films of the past generation have shown an increasing diversity of adolescent experiences and have been sympathetic to the particular challenges that teens face.

Book The Good The Bad and The Multiplex

Download or read book The Good The Bad and The Multiplex written by Mark Kermode and published by Random House. This book was released on 2011-09-01 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If blockbusters make money no matter how bad they are, then why not make a good one for a change? How can 3-D be the future of cinema when it's been giving audiences a headache for over a hundred years? Why pay to watch films in cinemas that don't have a projectionist but do have a fast-food stand? And, in a world where Sex and the City 2 was a hit, what are film critics even for? Outspoken, opinionated and hilariously funny, The Good, The Bad and The Multiplex is a must for anyone who has ever sat in an undermanned, overpriced cinema and wondered: 'How the hell did things get to be this terrible?'

Book Beyond the Multiplex

Download or read book Beyond the Multiplex written by Barbara Klinger and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2023-09-01 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since the mid-eighties, more audiences have been watching Hollywood movies at home than at movie theaters, yet little is known about just how viewers experience film outside of the multiplex. This is the first full-length study of how contemporary entertainment technologies and media—from cable television and VHS to DVD and the Internet—shape our encounters with the movies and affect the aesthetic, cultural, and ideological definitions of cinema. Barbara Klinger explores topics such as home theater, film collecting, classic Hollywood movie reruns, repeat viewings, and Internet film parodies, providing a multifaceted view of the presentation and reception of films in U.S. households. Balancing industry history with theoretical and cultural analysis, she finds that today cinema's powerful social presence cannot be fully grasped without considering its prolific recycling in post-theatrical venues—especially the home.

Book The Multiplex in India

Download or read book The Multiplex in India written by Adrian Athique and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2009-12-17 with total page 361 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the decade of its existence in India, the multiplex cinema has been very much a sign of the times – both a symptom and a symbol of new social values. Indicative of a consistent push to create a ‘globalised’ consuming middle class and a new urban environment, multiplex theatres have thus become key sites in the long-running struggle over cultural legitimacy and the right to public space in Indian cities. This book provides the reader with a comprehensive account of the new leisure infrastructure arising at the intersection between contemporary trends in cultural practice and the spatial politics that are reshaping the cities of India. Exploring the significance, and convergence, of economic liberalisation, urban redevelopment and the media explosion in India, the book demonstrates an innovative approach towards the cultural and political economy of leisure in a complex and rapidly-changing society. Key arguments are supported by up-to-date and substantive field research in several major metros and second tier cities across India. Accordingly, this book employs analytical frameworks from Media and Cultural Studies, and from Urban Geography and Development Studies in a wide-ranging examination of the multiplex phenomenon.

Download or read book Multiplex Networks written by Emanuele Cozzo and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-27 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides the basis of a formal language and explores its possibilities in the characterization of multiplex networks. Armed with the formalism developed, the authors define structural metrics for multiplex networks. A methodology to generalize monoplex structural metrics to multiplex networks is also presented so that the reader will be able to generalize other metrics of interest in a systematic way. Therefore, this book will serve as a guide for the theoretical development of new multiplex metrics. Furthermore, this Brief describes the spectral properties of these networks in relation to concepts from algebraic graph theory and the theory of matrix polynomials. The text is rounded off by analyzing the different structural transitions present in multiplex systems as well as by a brief overview of some representative dynamical processes. Multiplex Networks will appeal to students, researchers, and professionals within the fields of network science, graph theory, and data science.

Systems considered are the Michelson and Lamellar-grating interferometers, the Mock interferometer, and the Hadamard transform spectrometer. (Author).

Book Screening the World

Download or read book Screening the World written by Stuart Hanson and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-07-26 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book charts the development of the multiplex cinema as the pre-eminent form of film exhibition across the world. Going from its origins in the USA in the 1960s to its expansion overseas from the mid-1980s across Europe, Australia and other parts of Asia-Pacific, the book considers the emergence of a series of initially regional, then national and then international exhibition circuits. However, more than a consideration of US overseas expansion on the part of companies, this book examines the hegemony of the multiplex as a cultural and business form, arguing for its significance as a phenomenon that has transcended national and global boundaries and which has become the predominant venue for film viewing. Implicit in this analysis is a recognition of the domination of US media multi-nationals and Hollywood cinema, and the development of the multiplex cinema as symbolic of the extension and maintenance of the USA’s cultural and economic power. With case studies ranging from European countries such as Belgium, France, Germany and The Netherlands, to Pacific-Asian countries such as Australia, China, Japan and South Korea, this book is the first to explore the development of multiplexes on a global scale.

Book excerpt: With an increasing number of Muslims living in the West, and studies suggesting that mental illness may be more prevalent and chronic amongst Muslim cultural groups, there is a pressing need for appropriate treatment options. This book provides mental health professionals with a practical guide to delivering culturally adapted therapy to Muslim immigrants, refugees, and those with a Muslim religious or cultural background. It takes into account the religious, spiritual, social and cultural dimensions of individuals, framing elements such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and sleep problems within well-known Islamic terms and concepts. The book covers issues such as prominent somatic symptoms, multiple comorbidities, low education, ongoing life difficulties and mental health stigma. As Multiplex Therapy is transdiagnostic, targeting anxiety and mood disorders, the treatment is applicable to a large proportion of patients. Each chapter guides the reader through therapy sessions, giving clinicians an invaluable everyday manual for delivering treatment.
