Download or read book Multidimensional Weakly Singular Integral Equations written by Gennadi Vainikko and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-11-15 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The final aim of the book is to construct effective discretization methods to solve multidimensional weakly singular integral equations of the second kind on a region of Rn e.g. equations arising in the radiation transfer theory. To this end, the smoothness of the solution is examined proposing sharp estimates of the growth of the derivatives of the solution near the boundary G. The superconvergence effect of collocation methods at the collocation points is established. This is a book for graduate students and researchers in the fields of analysis, integral equations, mathematical physics and numerical methods. No special knowledge beyond standard undergraduate courses is assumed.

Book Multidimensional Singular Integrals and Integral Equations

Download or read book Multidimensional Singular Integrals and Integral Equations written by S. G. Mikhlin and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2014-07-10 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multidimensional Singular Integrals and Integral Equations presents the results of the theory of multidimensional singular integrals and of equations containing such integrals. Emphasis is on singular integrals taken over Euclidean space or in the closed manifold of Liapounov and equations containing such integrals. This volume is comprised of eight chapters and begins with an overview of some theorems on linear equations in Banach spaces, followed by a discussion on the simplest properties of multidimensional singular integrals. Subsequent chapters deal with compounding of singular integrals; properties of the symbol, with particular reference to Fourier transform of a kernel and the symbol of a singular operator; singular integrals in Lp spaces; and singular integral equations. The differentiation of integrals with a weak singularity is also considered, along with the rule for the multiplication of the symbols in the general case. The final chapter describes several applications of multidimensional singular integral equations to boundary problems in mathematical physics. This book will be of interest to mathematicians and students of mathematics.

Book From Divergent Power Series to Analytic Functions

Download or read book From Divergent Power Series to Analytic Functions written by Werner Balser and published by Springer. This book was released on 1994-08-29 with total page 124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multisummability is a method which, for certain formal power series with radius of convergence equal to zero, produces an analytic function having the formal series as its asymptotic expansion. This book presents the theory of multisummabi- lity, and as an application, contains a proof of the fact that all formal power series solutions of non-linear meromorphic ODE are multisummable. It will be of use to graduate students and researchers in mathematics and theoretical physics, and especially to those who encounter formal power series to (physical) equations with rapidly, but regularly, growing coefficients.

Book Singular Integral Equations

Download or read book Singular Integral Equations written by Ricardo Estrada and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 433 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many physical problems that are usually solved by differential equation techniques can be solved more effectively by integral equation methods. This work focuses exclusively on singular integral equations and on the distributional solutions of these equations. A large number of beautiful mathematical concepts are required to find such solutions, which in tum, can be applied to a wide variety of scientific fields - potential theory, me chanics, fluid dynamics, scattering of acoustic, electromagnetic and earth quake waves, statistics, and population dynamics, to cite just several. An integral equation is said to be singular if the kernel is singular within the range of integration, or if one or both limits of integration are infinite. The singular integral equations that we have studied extensively in this book are of the following type. In these equations f (x) is a given function and g(y) is the unknown function. 1. The Abel equation x x) = l g (y) d 0

Book Multidimensional Integral Equations and Inequalities

Download or read book Multidimensional Integral Equations and Inequalities written by B.G. Pachpatte and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-07-26 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Since from more than a century, the study of various types of integral equations and inequalities has been focus of great attention by many researchers, interested both in theory and its applications. In particular, there exists a very rich literature related to the integral equations and inequalities and their applications. The present monograph is an attempt to organize recent progress related to the Multidimensional integral equations and inequalities, which we hope will widen the scope of their new applications. The field to be covered is extremely wide and it is nearly impossible to treat all of them here. The material included in the monograph is recent and hard to find in other books. It is accessible to any reader with reasonable background in real analysis and acquaintance with its related areas. All results are presented in an elementary way and the book could also serve as a textbook for an advanced graduate course. The book deserves a warm welcome to those who wish to learn the subject and it will also be most valuable as a source of reference in the field. It will be an invaluable reading for mathematicians, physicists and engineers and also for graduate students, scientists and scholars wishing to keep abreast of this important area of research.

Book Approximation Methods for Two Classes of Singular Integral Equations

Download or read book Approximation Methods for Two Classes of Singular Integral Equations written by and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The dissertation consists of two parts. In the first part approximate methods for multidimensional weakly singular integral operators with operator-valued kernels are investigated. Convergence results and error estimates are given. There is considered an application of these methods to solving radiation transfer problems. Numerical results are presented, too. In the second part we consider a polynomial collocation method for the numerical solution of a singular integral equation over the interval. More precisely, the operator of our integral equation is supposed to be of the form \ $aI + b \mu^{-1} S \mu I $\ with \ $S$\ the Cauchy singular integral operator, with piecewise continuous coefficients \ $a$\ and \ $b, $\ and with a Jacobi weight \ $\mu.$\ To the equation we apply a collocation method, where the collocation points are the Chebyshev nodes of the first kind and where the trial space is the space of polynomials multiplied by another Jacobi weight. For the stability and convergence of this collocation method in weighted \ $L^2$\ spaces, we derive necessary and sufficient conditions. Moreover, the extension of these results to an algebra generated by the sequences of the collocation method applied to the mentioned singular integral operators is discussed and the behaviour of the singular values of the discretized operators is investigated.

Book The Splitting Extrapolation Method

Download or read book The Splitting Extrapolation Method written by C. B. Liem and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1995 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The splitting extrapolation method is a newly developed technique for solving multidimensional mathematical problems. It overcomes the difficulties arising from Richardson's extrapolation when applied to these problems and obtains higher accuracy solutions with lower cost and a high degree of parallelism. The method is particularly suitable for solving large scale scientific and engineering problems. This book presents applications of the method to multidimensional integration, integral equations and partial differential equations. It also gives an introduction to combination methods which are relevant to splitting extrapolation. The book is intended for those who may exploit these methods and it requires only a basic knowledge of numerical analysis.

Book Volterra Integral Equations

Download or read book Volterra Integral Equations written by Hermann Brunner and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2017-01-20 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers a comprehensive introduction to the theory of linear and nonlinear Volterra integral equations (VIEs), ranging from Volterra's fundamental contributions and the resulting classical theory to more recent developments that include Volterra functional integral equations with various kinds of delays, VIEs with highly oscillatory kernels, and VIEs with non-compact operators. It will act as a 'stepping stone' to the literature on the advanced theory of VIEs, bringing the reader to the current state of the art in the theory. Each chapter contains a large number of exercises, extending from routine problems illustrating or complementing the theory to challenging open research problems. The increasingly important role of VIEs in the mathematical modelling of phenomena where memory effects play a key role is illustrated with some 30 concrete examples, and the notes at the end of each chapter feature complementary references as a guide to further reading.
