Download or read book Real time 3D Reconstruction and Rendering for Minimally Invasive Surgery with Multi Cameras Array written by Jianwei Ke and published by . This book was released on 2024 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Advancements in digital camera technologies have led to significantly smaller camera sensors without compromising imaging quality. This trend opens avenues for replacing single-camera systems with multi-camera arrays, offering benefits such as an expanded field-of-view and 3D information. However, camera arrays require additional processing to interpret the collected image data. This report addresses two significant algorithmic challenges in developing a camera array. The first challenge involves virtual view generation, which is the task of estimating the image for a virtual camera using image data from multiview cameras. Ideally, if the geometry of the underlying scene is known, the virtual view can be generated by projecting the 3D geometry to the virtual camera. However, finding the 3D geometry of a scene from multiview cameras is an active research topic in Computer Vision. Considering the real-time processing requirement (

Book 3D Reconstruction from Multiple Images

Download or read book 3D Reconstruction from Multiple Images written by Theo Moons and published by Now Publishers Inc. This book was released on 2009-10-23 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The issue discusses methods to extract 3-dimensional (3D) models from plain images. In particular, the 3D information is obtained from images for which the camera parameters are unknown. The principles underlying such uncalibrated structure-from-motion methods are outlined. First, a short review of 3D acquisition technologies puts such methods in a wider context, and highlights their important advantages. Then, the actual theory behind this line of research is given. The authors have tried to keep the text maximally self-contained, therefore also avoiding to rely on an extensive knowledge of the projective concepts that usually appear in texts about self-calibration 3D methods. Rather, mathematical explanations that are more amenable to intuition are given. The explanation of the theory includes the stratification of reconstructions obtained from image pairs as well as metric reconstruction on the basis of more than 2 images combined with some additional knowledge about the cameras used. Readers who want to obtain more practical information about how to implement such uncalibrated structure-from-motion pipelines may be interested in two more Foundations and Trends issues written by the same authors. Together with this issue they can be read as a single tutorial on the subject.

Book Augmented Reality Virtual Reality Semantic 3D Reconstruction

Download or read book Augmented Reality Virtual Reality Semantic 3D Reconstruction written by Zhihan Lv and published by Mdpi AG. This book was released on 2022-12-14 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Augmented reality is a key technology that will facilitate a major paradigm shift in the way users interact with data and has only just recently been recognized as a viable solution for solving many critical needs. In practical terms, this innovation can be used to visualize data from hundreds of sensors simultaneously, overlaying relevant and actionable information over your environment through a headset. Semantic 3D reconstruction unlocks the promise of AR technology, possessing a far greater availability of semantic information. Although, there are several methods currently available as post-processing approaches to extract semantic information from the reconstructed 3D models, the results obtained results have been uncertain and evenly incorrect. Thus, it is necessary to explore or develop a novel 3D reconstruction approach to automatically recover 3D geometry model and obtained semantic information simultaneously. The rapid advent of deep learning brought new opportunities to the field of semantic 3D reconstruction from photo collections. Deep learning-based methods are not only able to extract semantic information but can also enhance fundamental techniques in semantic 3D reconstruction, techniques which include feature matching or tracking, stereo matching, camera pose estimation, and use of multi-view stereo methods. Moreover, deep learning techniques can be used to extract priors from photo collections, and this obtained information can in turn improve the quality of 3D reconstruction.

Book A Framework for Realtime 3 D Reconstruction by Space Carving Using Graphics Hardware

Download or read book A Framework for Realtime 3 D Reconstruction by Space Carving Using Graphics Hardware written by Christian Nitschke and published by diplom.de. This book was released on 2007-03-05 with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inhaltsangabe:Introduction: Reconstruction of real-world scenes from a set of multiple images is a topic in Computer Vision and 3D Computer Graphics with many interesting applications. There is a relation to Augmented and Mixed Reality (AR/MR), Computer-Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW), Computer-Aided industrial/architectural Design (CAD), modeling of the real-world (e.g. computer games, scenes/effects in movies), entertainment (e.g. 3D TV/Video) and recognition/analyzing of real-world characteristics by computer systems and robots. There exists a powerful algorithm theory for shape reconstruction from arbitrary viewpoints, called shape from photo-consistency. However, it is computationally expensive and hence can not be used with applications in the field of 3D video or CSCW as well as interactive 3D model creation. Attempts have been made to achieve real-time framerates using PC cluster systems. While these provide enough performance they are also expensive and less flexible. Approaches that use GPU hardware-acceleration on single workstations achieve interactive framerates for novel-view synthesis, but do not provide an explicit volumetric representation of the whole scene. The proposed approach shows the efforts in developing a GPU hardware-accelerated framework for obtaining the volumetric photo hull of a dynamic 3D scene as seen from multiple calibrated cameras. High performance is achieved by employing a shape from silhouette technique in advance to obtain a tight initial volume for shape from photo-consistency. Also several speed-up techniques are presented to increase efficiency. Since the entire processing is done on a single PC, the framework can be applied to mobile setups, enabling a wide range of further applications. The approach is explained using programmable vertex and fragment processors and compared to highly optimized CPU implementations. It is shown that the new approach can outperform the latter by more than one magnitude. The thesis is organized as follows: Chapter 1 contains an introduction, giving an overview with classification of related techniques, statement of the main problem, novelty of the proposed approach and its fields of application. Chapter 2 surveys related work in the area of dynamic scene reconstruction by shape from silhouette and shape from photo-consistency. The focus lies on high performance reconstruction and hardware-acceleration. Chapter 3 introduces the theoretical basis for the proposed [...]

Book Advances in Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing

Download or read book Advances in Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing written by Joao Tavares and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-12-21 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational methodologies of signal processing and imaging analysis, namely considering 2D and 3D images, are commonly used in different applications of the human society. For example, Computational Vision systems are progressively used for surveillance tasks, traf?c analysis, recognition process, inspection p- poses, human-machine interfaces, 3D vision and deformation analysis. One of the main characteristics of the Computational Vision domain is its int- multidisciplinary. In fact, in this domain, methodologies of several more fundam- tal sciences, such as Informatics, Mathematics, Statistics, Psychology, Mechanics and Physics are usually used. Besides this inter-multidisciplinary characteristic, one of the main reasons that contributes for the continually effort done in this domain of the human knowledge is the number of applications in the medical area. For instance, it is possible to consider the use of statistical or physical procedures on medical images in order to model the represented structures. This modeling can have different goals, for example: shape reconstruction, segmentation, registration, behavior interpretation and simulation, motion and deformation analysis, virtual reality, computer-assisted therapy or tissue characterization. The main objective of the ECCOMAS Thematic Conferences on Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing (VIPimage) is to promote a comprehensive forum for discussion on the recent advances in the related ?elds trying to id- tify widespread areas of potential collaboration between researchers of different sciences.

Book Multiple View Geometry in Computer Vision

Download or read book Multiple View Geometry in Computer Vision written by Richard Hartley and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2004-03-25 with total page 676 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A basic problem in computer vision is to understand the structure of a real world scene given several images of it. Techniques for solving this problem are taken from projective geometry and photogrammetry. Here, the authors cover the geometric principles and their algebraic representation in terms of camera projection matrices, the fundamental matrix and the trifocal tensor. The theory and methods of computation of these entities are discussed with real examples, as is their use in the reconstruction of scenes from multiple images. The new edition features an extended introduction covering the key ideas in the book (which itself has been updated with additional examples and appendices) and significant new results which have appeared since the first edition. Comprehensive background material is provided, so readers familiar with linear algebra and basic numerical methods can understand the projective geometry and estimation algorithms presented, and implement the algorithms directly from the book.

Book Deep Learning Based Single View 3D Reconstruction

Download or read book Deep Learning Based Single View 3D Reconstruction written by Henry Smith and published by Salman Khan. This book was released on 2023-02-20 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Deep Learning-Based Single View 3D Reconstruction" is a research area that focuses on creating three-dimensional (3D) models of objects from a single two-dimensional (2D) image using deep learning algorithms. This technique has the potential to revolutionize fields such as computer vision, robotics, and virtual reality. The process of reconstructing 3D models from a single image involves several steps, including feature extraction, camera pose estimation, and depth estimation. Deep learning techniques, particularly convolutional neural networks (CNNs), have shown great promise in improving the accuracy and efficiency of these steps. The use of deep learning in single view 3D reconstruction has several advantages over traditional methods, including the ability to learn and generalize complex features and the ability to handle noisy or incomplete data. Additionally, deep learning techniques can be trained on large datasets, allowing for better generalization and improved performance. Henry Smith is not a known author in this field of study, but there are many researchers and experts working on this topic, including David Novotny, Jiri Sedlar, Andrea Vedaldi, and Kostas Daniilidis, among others.

Book Markerless 3D Reconstruction of Temporally Deforming Surfaces from Multiple Cameras

Download or read book Markerless 3D Reconstruction of Temporally Deforming Surfaces from Multiple Cameras written by and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 3D content generation is a major challenge in computer graphics, and generating realistic objects with time-varying shape and motion is a big part of creating realistic virtual environments. An attractive approach for generating content is to acquire the shape of real objects using computer vision techniques. Capturing the real world avoids the complexity of mathematical simulation as well as the time-consuming and difficult process of creating content manually. Traditional acquisition methods, such as range scanning, work well for static objects. However, temporally deformable objects like garments and human faces pose greater challenges. Here, the capture process must reconstruct both the time-varying shape as well as the motion of the object. Additionally, per-frame texture maps should be acquired for realistic rendering. Previous methods contain various limitations, such as the use of structured illumination patterns, or hand-placed markers on the surface in order to guide the reconstruction. Placing markers on garments limits the types of garments that can be captured. Both markers and structured light on human faces limit the ability to capture high-quality per-frame texture maps, which are essential for reconstructing performance-specific details such as sweating, wrinkles and blood flow. In this thesis we propose new, entirely passive techniques for advancing the state-of-the-art in 3D reconstruction of temporally deformable surfaces. We reconstruct high-resolution, temporally compatible geometry using multiple video cameras, without the need for either markers or structured light patterns. This thesis contains several contributions, both in computer graphics as well as computer vision. We start with new methods for multi-camera calibration and synchronization, which allow us to employ inexpensive consumer video cameras for reconstruction. We also present a novel technique for multi-view stereo reconstruction, capable of building high-resolution geometric me.
