Now a successful doctor and one of the best neurosurgeons in the state, the only thing he still wants are answers about where he came from. Download or read book Citizen written by C. Andrew Doyle and published by Church Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2020-02-17 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A must-read for Christians struggling with the present political conversation Citizen helps Christians find our place in the politics of the world. In these pages, Bishop Andy Doyle offers a Christian virtue ethic grounded in fresh anthropology. He offers a vision of the individual Christian within the reign of God and the life of the broader community. He adds to the conversation in both church and culture by offering a renewed theological underpinning to the complex nature of Christianity in a post-modern world. How did we get here? Is this the way it has to be? Are there implications for conversations about politics within the church? Doyle contends that our current debates are not about one partisan narrative winning, but communities of diversity being unified by a relationship with God's grand narrative. Crafting a deep theological conversation with a unified approach to the Old and New Testament, Citizen asks, what does it truly mean to live in community?

Download or read book Motivational Speaker2 written by Tilawan and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2012-07-19 with total page 404 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inspiring, entertaining, intriguing, and thrilling. He had a smooth and great command of the English language that left one in no doubt of the type of education he had. I was not particularly elated about getting a male caller. The men have a way of drawing you to their problems, which often had to do with their business deals or financial difficulties, and you would end up giving the same advice all over again, and thus turning the show to be a boring repetition of talks. But with the ladies, you are sure to bounce on an interesting topic that reveals a lot of a sleazy life history. It was not that the men had no history of scandals of theirs to reveal, but it was the ladies that normally were more imminent on their life stories. Hello, DJ SST! he said. He was definitely not a regular caller, probably not even a first caller. My buddies on the show were all used to calling me with just SST! Yeah, you are welcome to the motivation dance club on Peoples FM, and what dance steps do you have for us today? I asked in my usual polite and rehearsed manner of speaking to a new caller. Really, sir, this is my first time, he said rather apologetically. I was right. He was a first-time caller! And he was coming with this sir stuff that I haven't heard on the show for such a long time. Since I became a buddy and household name to my callers in Lagos, everybody was quick to address me just as SST. There was no sir or Mr. for me now! For a caller not to call me with my familiar initials could imply he was a new person on the sho' as I call it. And nobody wants to be seen as a new person on the show in Lagos! Anyway, I think I like the guy. He sounded a little cultured and might even turn out to be a gentleman! A gentleman in Lagos? Well, why not? You never know as they say! OK, you are welcome to the motivation dance club, and as you know, I am DJ SST, and we dont need introduction on the motivation dance club in Lagos. We just need more people to move on to our dance floor and show us their dancing steps! I was trying to loosen the tension that he exhibited in his voice. Yes, thanks, sir! he said.

Download or read book Rest for the Justice Seeking Soul written by Susan K. Williams Smith and published by Whitaker House. This book was released on 2019-11-12 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Susan K. Williams Smith is a minister and activist who has been on the front lines of social and racial justice for many years. As she has marched shoulder-to-shoulder to resist systematic oppression, she has heard the same question over and over: “How are we going to get through this?” Rest for the Justice-Seeking Soul was birthed out of those cries. Here is a soul-care manual for social justice-seeking believers who stand in constant vigilance against all forms of racial, class, and gender oppression. The fight for justice and equality is an exhausting daily grind—and the work is never over. That’s why it is incumbent upon all who speak and advocate for the less fortunate to practice self-care. You can’t fight when your tank is empty. In response to the many calls and emails she has received from friends, clergy, and strangers who are in utter despair and even deep depression, she has created ninety daily devotions to provide a daily spoonful of hope and encouragement, a healing balm to “strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees” (Hebrews 12:12). Lift your gaze upward toward a better future by allowing God to restore harmony and focus in your soul and justice in your community. Our God is bigger than whoever is oppressing you. As the old hymn states, “Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal.”
