Book More and More Veils Lifted from My Face

Download or read book More and More Veils Lifted from My Face written by Esther Okwata and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2010-03 with total page 175 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: More and More Veils Lifted From My Face is more than just Esther's life experience. It will inspire and encourage you as a reader to walk with Jesus. You will also learn to persevere knowing that even amongst hardship, there is also happiness, but only if you receive Jesus Christ as your savior. For Esther, she thought that to be a good Christian was to be humble, carry the Bible and go to church every Sunday. But that was not enough. It was not until she realized God's amazing Grace through the way of salvation that she saw a different page in her life. She was redeemed, became a happy and hopeful person. She confesses that God lifted a veil from her face to know and see the hidden things that she had not known. She remained stagnant for a long time, trying to rely on people to help her stand and walk as a saved Christian, but it wasn't easy because they failed her. Yet another veil was lifted from her face, and she began to rely on God, not man. It is very interesting to know that our faces are covered by so many thin veils, that God Himself lifts for us to see what is happening in the spiritual world. The pivotal part in this book is the instant miracle God performed in Esther's life. That was her biggest turning point, and she encourages people who are not certain about miracles, that they are real, and they still happen

Book excerpt: What do we miss seeing of reality when we don't include the feminine perspective? The feminine principle with all its unique qualities is restoring the lost soul to disciplines once limited by principles of logic, analysis, and reductionism. The experiences of contemporary scientists show how the unveiling of the feminine is enlivening modern science, infusing it with a new spirit of cooperation and compassion, and changing long-held ideas about progress and about what makes "good science". "Her book has led me to think anew about science and about women in science."-Anna J. Harrison, past president of AAAS

Book Rethinking Muslim Women and the Veil Challenging Historical Modern Stereotypes

Download or read book Rethinking Muslim Women and the Veil Challenging Historical Modern Stereotypes written by Katherine Bullock and published by IIIT. This book was released on 2007-01-01 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Until now the bulk of the literature about the veil has been written by outsiders who do not themselves veil. This literature often assumes a condescending tone about veiled women, assuming that they are making uninformed decisions choices about veiling makes them subservient to a patriarchal culture and religion. “Rethinking Muslim Women and the Veil” offers an alternative viewpoint, based on the thoughts and experiences of Muslim women themselves. This is the first time a clear and concise book-length argument has been made for the compatibility between veiling and modernity. Katherine Bullock uncovers positive aspects of the veil that are frequently not perceived by outsiders. “Rethinking Muslim Women and the Veil” looks at the colonial roots of the negative Western stereotype of the veil. It presents interviews with Muslim women to discover their thoughts and experiences with the veil in Canada. The book also offers a positive theory of veiling. The author argues that in consumer capitalist cultures, women can find wearing the veil a liberation from the stifling beauty game that promotes unsafe and unhealthy ideal body images for women. This book also includes an extensive bibliography on topics related to Muslim women and the veil.

Book The Unimagined in the English Renaissance

Download or read book The Unimagined in the English Renaissance written by Andrew Mattison and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2013 with total page 183 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When we read poetry, we tend to believe that we are getting a glimpse of the interior of the poet's mind--pictures from the poet's imagination relayed through the representative power of language. But poets themselves sometimes express doubt (usually indirectly) that poetic language has the capability or the purpose of revealing these images. This book examines description in Renaissance poetry, aiming to reveal its complexity and variability, its distinctiveness from prose description, and what it can tell us about Renaissance ways of thinking about the visible world and the poetic mind. Recent criticism has tended to address representation as a product of culture; The Unimagined in the English Renaissance argues to the contrary that attention to description as a literary phenomenon can complicate its cultural context by recognizing the persistent problems of genre and literary history. The book focuses on Sidney, Spenser, Donne, and Milton, who had very different aims as poets but shared a degree of skepticism about imagistic representation. For these poets, description can obscure as much as it makes visible, and can create whole categories of existence that are outside of visibility altogether.

Book The Torn Veil

Download or read book The Torn Veil written by Daniel M. Gurtner and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2006-12-21 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this 2006 text, Daniel M. Gurtner examines the meaning of the rending of the veil at the death of Jesus in Matthew 27:51a by considering the functions of the veil in the Old Testament and its symbolism in Second Temple and Rabbinic Judaism. Gurtner incorporates these elements into a compositional exegesis of the rending text in Matthew. He concludes that the rending of the veil is an apocalyptic assertion like the opening of heaven revealing, in part, end-time images drawn from Ezekiel 37. Moreover, when the veil is torn Matthew depicts the cessation of its function, articulating the atoning role of Christ's death which gives access to God not simply in the sense of entering the Holy of Holies (as in Hebrews), but in trademark Matthean Emmanuel Christology: 'God with us'. This underscores the significance of Jesus' atoning death in the first gospel.

Book Lifting the Veil

Download or read book Lifting the Veil written by Janet Farrar and published by The Crowood Press. This book was released on 2024-04-22 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written to fill the gap in available knowledge on trance, prophecy, deity-possession and mediumship within the neo-Pagan and Wiccan communities, Lifting the Veil has been developed from Janet Farrar and Gavin Bone's personal work and public workshops on trance-prophecy and ecstatic ritual over 25 years. The book covers the history and modern practice of trance as well as the methods of practice. It also explores the four keys to trance-prophecy, which include the importance of understanding mythical cosmology and psychology, understanding the role of energy in trance, the nature of spirits and deity, and understanding what trance is and the techniques involved. Because trance-prophecy is a very subjective process, the book includes descriptions of the personal experiences of others and transcriptions from several independent sessions by modern seers and priestesses.

Download or read book Lifting the Veil written by Nicholas Moon and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2024-05-13 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lifting the Veil is the second novel in the interdimensional travelers series and follows the initial novel When the Goddess Returns to Eden. Lifting the Veil begins with the existential and paranormal protagonist, Rhea Michaels, awakening in the attic from her cosmic journey where she was forced by ancients to view her crucifixion by the Romans. Turner Ashton, the existential and paranormal antagonist, is introduced in the second book undergoing an interrogation by Ross Jackson, the sheriff. Members of the drug cartel, as existential antagonists, continue their plans to assassinate both Rhea Michaels and Max Hastings, the district attorney. The fictionalized setting remains Bell City in Eaton County, Kentucky. The plot continues to weave the fictionalized main characters and supporting cast in a web of crime, torture, murder, and mayhem with both existential and paranormal features. Lifting the Veil presents themes that are worthy of thought and consideration by multiple members of the at-present civilization, including climate change, overpopulation, pollution, extinction, and enslavement. The connecting element of the interdimensional series is a professor, Bradford Wainwright, who, as a character, not only reads and analyzes the manuscript but also is caught in a web of personal and professional analysis. Once Wainwright finishes reading and reviewing Lifting the Veil, he calls Virgil, his literary agent. While they are speaking, the third manuscript arrives and is entitled Aila's Mission.
