Book Iterative Methods for Solving Nonlinear Equations and Systems

Download or read book Iterative Methods for Solving Nonlinear Equations and Systems written by Juan R. Torregrosa and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-12-06 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Solving nonlinear equations in Banach spaces (real or complex nonlinear equations, nonlinear systems, and nonlinear matrix equations, among others), is a non-trivial task that involves many areas of science and technology. Usually the solution is not directly affordable and require an approach using iterative algorithms. This Special Issue focuses mainly on the design, analysis of convergence, and stability of new schemes for solving nonlinear problems and their application to practical problems. Included papers study the following topics: Methods for finding simple or multiple roots either with or without derivatives, iterative methods for approximating different generalized inverses, real or complex dynamics associated to the rational functions resulting from the application of an iterative method on a polynomial. Additionally, the analysis of the convergence has been carried out by means of different sufficient conditions assuring the local, semilocal, or global convergence. This Special issue has allowed us to present the latest research results in the area of iterative processes for solving nonlinear equations as well as systems and matrix equations. In addition to the theoretical papers, several manuscripts on signal processing, nonlinear integral equations, or partial differential equations, reveal the connection between iterative methods and other branches of science and engineering.

Book Monotone Flows and Rapid Convergence for Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations

Download or read book Monotone Flows and Rapid Convergence for Nonlinear Partial Differential Equations written by V. Lakshmikantham and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2019-09-11 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A monotone iterative technique is used to obtain monotone approximate solutions that converge to the solution of nonlinear problems of partial differential equations of elliptic, parabolic and hyperbolic type. This volume describes that technique, which has played a valuable role in unifying a variety of nonlinear problems, particularly when combined with the quasilinearization method. The first part of this monograph describes the general methodology using the classic approach, while the second part develops the same basic ideas via the variational technique. The text provides a useful and timely reference for applied scientists, engineers and numerical analysts.

Book Impulsive Differential Inclusions

Download or read book Impulsive Differential Inclusions written by John R. Graef and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2013-07-31 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Differential equations with impulses arise as models of many evolving processes that are subject to abrupt changes, such as shocks, harvesting, and natural disasters. These phenomena involve short-term perturbations from continuous and smooth dynamics, whose duration is negligible in comparison with the duration of an entire evolution. In models involving such perturbations, it is natural to assume these perturbations act instantaneously or in the form of impulses. As a consequence, impulsive differential equations have been developed in modeling impulsive problems in physics, population dynamics, ecology, biotechnology, industrial robotics, pharmacokinetics, optimal control, and so forth. There are also many different studies in biology and medicine for which impulsive differential equations provide good models. During the last 10 years, the authors have been responsible for extensive contributions to the literature on impulsive differential inclusions via fixed point methods. This book is motivated by that research as the authors endeavor to bring under one cover much of those results along with results by other researchers either affecting or affected by the authors' work. The questions of existence and stability of solutions for different classes of initial value problems for impulsive differential equations and inclusions with fixed and variable moments are considered in detail. Attention is also given to boundary value problems. In addition, since differential equations can be viewed as special cases of differential inclusions, significant attention is also given to relative questions concerning differential equations. This monograph addresses a variety of side issues that arise from its simpler beginnings as well.
