Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents the proceedings of the Workshop on Momentum Distributions held on October 24 to 26, 1988 at Argonne National Laboratory. This workshop was motivated by the enormous progress within the past few years in both experimental and theoretical studies of momentum distributions, by the growing recognition of the importance of momentum distributions to the characterization of quantum many-body systems, and especially by the realization that momentum distribution studies have much in common across the entire range of modern physics. Accordingly, the workshop was unique in that it brought together researchers in nuclear physics, electronic systems, quantum fluids and solids, and particle physics to address the common elements of momentum distribution studies. The topics dis cussed in the workshop spanned more than ten orders of magnitude range in charac teristic energy scales. The workshop included an extraordinary variety of interactions from Coulombic to hard core repulsive, from non-relativistic to extreme relativistic.

Book Exclusive Reactions at High Momentum Transfer IV

Download or read book Exclusive Reactions at High Momentum Transfer IV written by A. V. Radyushkin and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2011 with total page 486 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Proceedings include talks given at the 4th Workshop on Exclusive Reactions at High Momentum Transfer at Jefferson Lab, Newport News, VA, USA, the world''s leading facility performing research on nuclear, hadronic and quark-gluon structure of matter. Exclusive reactions are becoming one of the major sources of information about the deep structure of the nucleons and other hadrons. The workshop focused on the application of a variety of exclusive reactions at high momentum transfer, utilizing unpolarized and polarized beams and targets, to obtain information about nucleon ground state and excited state structure at short distances. This is a subject which is central to the programs of current accelerators and especially planned future facilities. The topics include: generalized parton distributions, deeply virtual Compton scattering, deeply virtual meson production (DVMP), transverse structure of hadrons (TMD), hadron form factors - elastic and transition, quantum chromodynamics (perturbative, non-perturbative, lattice calculations), and physics to study at an Electron Ion Collider.

Book Momentum Distributions

Book excerpt: There have been several excellent reviews of momentum-distribution research in particular subject areas of physics such as electronic systems and nuclear systems. However, it is the commonality of interests, difficulties, and prospects across all of physics, along with certain pivotal advances, which led to the organization of an interdisciplinary Workshop on Momentum Distributions held at Argonne National Laboratory on October 24--26, 1988. The purpose of this overview is to explain why scientists with such diverse backgrounds have been brought together at this meeting, to introduce and discuss the common elements of momentum-distribution studies, and to establish a common language. We hope to facilitate an appreciation of the more specialized articles which follow in these proceedings. We begin by summarizing the general properties of momentum distributions. Differences and similarities of atomic, electronic, and nuclear many-body systems are examined, in terms of characteristic lengths and energies, relative importance of exchange, and the nature of the two-particle interactions. We continue with a brief commentary on the microscopic methods used to calculate n(p) from first principles. Thereafter, the discussion focuses on the ideas, techniques, and issues involved in the experimental determination of the momentum distribution: deep-inelastic scattering, the impulse approximation, Y-scaling, final-state effects, and scale breaking. Finally, some typical examples of theoretical and experimental momentum distributions will be presented and compared, for a variety of systems. 63 refs., 16 figs.

Book Exclusive Reactions Of High Momentum Transfer Proceedings Of The International Workshop

Download or read book Exclusive Reactions Of High Momentum Transfer Proceedings Of The International Workshop written by Paul Stoler and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994-06-22 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: During the past decade considerable literature has appeared on the topic of exclusive reactions at high momentum transfer. Two important recent developments offer the possiblity of experimentally testing the theoretical ideas in a systematic way. These are the potential CEBAF energy upgrades and the proposed 15 - 30 GeV European Electron Accelerator, ELFE.This volume records the state-of-the-art in studying exclusive reactions at high momentum transfers and establishes a common body of knowledge to be shared by all. There is some emphasis on the use of perturbative calculations to connect hadron structure to experimental measureables and other topics, including color transparency, the use of QCD sum rules and experiemental data.

Book Natural Mathematical Distribution of Momentum

Download or read book Natural Mathematical Distribution of Momentum written by Waris Allie and published by Waris Allie. This book was released on with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A theory that's combined with a collection of other theories about the workings of the universe in relation to a natural mathematical distribution of momentum or force. This is a book of personally typed up writings and handmade drawings about the universe. This is unprofessionally made to inspire the poor to pursue education or a career in science even if they think that they can’t afford resources or are too poor to figure things out that relate to science. Kinetic force is the natural mathematical distribution of momentum. It is the way force or energy naturally distributes itself in matter and spacetime to create everything in the universe from the smallest particles to the largest astronomical objects. This book is a theory like mainstream theoretical physics theories about how the universe formed and how everything in it works. This is kinetic force theory

Book Bound State Momentum Distributions PWiA

Download or read book Bound State Momentum Distributions PWiA written by and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Proposed forms for nuclear momentum distributions are investigated. Calculations of (p, p') reactions using those forms are done in a PWIA at angles where the quasielastic peak is seen and also at back angles. The parameters used are derived from (e, e') data, where the nuclear momenta probed overlap with those of the low angle (p, p') experiment. Although there is reasonable agreement for the (p, p') data at 180°, the inclusion of distortion necessitates a different parameter set to obtain agreement for the quasifree process. It is concluded that the (p, p') reaction cannot be readily understood with a simple momentum distribution.

Book Momentum Distributions for math mmultiscripts mi Mathvariant

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: [Background] A primary goal of deuteron electrodisintegration is the possibility of extracting the deuteron momentum distribution. This extraction is inherently fraught with difficulty, as the momentum distribution is not an observable and the extraction relies on theoretical models dependent on other models as input. [Purpose] We present a new method for extracting the momentum distribution which takes into account a wide variety of model inputs thus providing a theoretical uncertainty due to the various model constituents. [Method] The calculations presented here are using a Bethe-Salpeter like formalism with a wide variety of bound state wave functions, form factors, and final state interactions. We present a method to extract the momentum distributions from experimental cross sections, which takes into account the theoretical uncertainty from the various model constituents entering the calculation. [Results] In order to test the extraction pseudo-data was generated, and the extracted "experimental'' distribution, which has theoretical uncertainty from the various model inputs, was compared with the theoretical distribution used to generate the pseudo-data. [Conclusions] In the examples we compared the original distribution was typically within the error band of the extracted distribution. The input wave functions do contain some outliers which are discussed in the text, but at least this process can provide an upper bound on the deuteron momentum distribution. Due to the reliance on the theoretical calculation to obtain this quantity any extraction method should account for the theoretical error inherent in these calculations due to model inputs.

Book Nuclear Internal Momentum Distribution

Book Momentum Transfer in Fluids

Download or read book Momentum Transfer in Fluids written by Wm.H. Corcoran and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 407 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Momentum Transfer in Fluids provides information pertinent to fluid mechanics. This book discusses several topics related to the movement of fluids, including boundary-layer analysis, statistical treatment of turbulence, as well as laminar and turbulent shear-flow. Comprised of seven chapters, this book starts with an overview of the physical nature of momentum and describes the application of this concept to systems of variable weight, which are useful in the prediction of the physical behavior of fluids in motion. This text then explores the fundamental properties and the macroscopic aspects of turbulent flow. Other chapters present the significance and utility of mixing length and other macroscopic turbulence parameters. This book discusses as well the prediction of the velocity and friction as functions of position in the flowing stream. The final chapter deals with the qualitative aspects of boundary flows for compressible and incompressible fluids. This book is a valuable resource for scientists and chemical engineers.

Book Electron Spin and Momentum Densities and Chemical Reactivity

Download or read book Electron Spin and Momentum Densities and Chemical Reactivity written by Paul G. Mezey and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-04-11 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The electron density of a non-degenerate ground state system determines essentially all physical properties of the system. This statement of the Hohenberg–Kohn theorem of Density Functional Theory plays an exceptionally important role among all the fundamental relations of Molecular Physics. In particular, the electron density distribution and the dynamic properties of this density determine both the local and global reactivities of molecules. High resolution experimental electron densities are increasingly becoming available for more and more molecules, including macromolecules such as proteins. Furthermore, many of the early difficulties with the determination of electron densities in the vicinity of light nuclei have been overcome. These electron densities provide detailed information that gives important insight into the fundamentals of molecular structure and a better understanding of chemical reactions. The results of electron density analysis are used in a variety of applied fields, such as pharmaceutical drug discovery and biotechnology. If the functional form of a molecular electron density is known, then various molecular properties affecting reactivity can be determined by quantum chemical computational techniques or alternative approximate methods.
